We spent £120 for a party at a soft play centre for 9 children. I didn't think it was that overpriced. I reckon it's usually £10-£15 a head for children's parties so unless you only have around 4 kids attending, the price isn't exactly beyond normal surely?

Beeziekn33ze · 25/03/2017 17:42

Mrs
9 year old loves sushi, had friends round to make their own, not too difficult and very popular!

Classic MN boast Grin

Ooh how do you have a LAN party?? (Or do you just mean they are all on your wifi?)

I think they do both. There are usually 8-10 of them, they all bring their computers and connect them together and play that way, but they also play with people online.

UptheChimne · 25/03/2017 20:08

Well, i suppose if you don't have a home large enough to host a party for 9 or 10 children, you have to rent somewhere like a soft play centre. I'm now counting myself lucky I've never had to resort to such places!

Dontactlikeyouknowme · 25/03/2017 20:11

Nandos middle class my arse.

AutomatonSimine · 25/03/2017 20:14

I never knew Nando's is middle class either. So peculiar class ideas.

19lottie82 · 25/03/2017 22:42

Ooops my mistake sorry mrsgb

They do it in the family room, which is the lower level of our house. It's just one big room, with a bathroom and a laundry room off of it. We setup folding tables and they all sit there and play all night long. I periodically throw snacks downstairs and run away.

CampingManDad · 26/03/2017 14:04

re the class thing, I'm not from this country and haven't read the idiots guide to the class system but in my head there's 3 classes, those poor people that can't afford to pay for a dozen kids at Nandos, those rich people that can afford to buy a Nandos and the rest of us in between.

Steff, that sounds like my kids' dream party! 😂

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 26/03/2017 14:20

I've never been to Nandos. Are people thinking it's too nice/ expensive for middle class, or not nice enough?

AutomatonSimine · 26/03/2017 14:47

Not nice enough.

Sarahrellyboo1987 · 26/03/2017 18:56

Yes, you are being unreasonable.
If you can't afford it then don't offer it.
Or, maybe raise your child so she isn't entitled

How old are the entitled middle class kids? Too old for a birthday party maybe but I guess it's the done thing so you just go along with it.

I don't do Birthday parties for my teen but I'm amazed by how many parents still do. They've gone from soft play to trampoline park and Nando's or a manicures and tapas. When does it end ffs. Not only that but as they are too old for the kids menus, you are taking a bunch of adults out for dinner and that's pretty expensive. That's on top of the present list. Seriously a sleepover and a pizza is all that happens here.

ilovechocolate07 · 27/03/2017 14:19

At some other restaurants a table of 10 plus involves an optional service charge. It's harder for them to try to serve 10 plates at the same time so I don't think you could argue for a discount.

ZombieApocalips · 27/03/2017 15:02

If £100 is too much invite less people.

Where we live, smart parents schedule cinema parties so the kids aren't hungry after the movie so a Costa Creamy Cooler or McFlurry hits the spot.

Btw Beauty and the Beast is a PG so the 12 year olds won't need an adult with them.

19lottie82 · 27/03/2017 16:21

campingmaddad I wouldn't say being able to afford Nando's makes you rich

mygorgeousmilo · 27/03/2017 16:36

Entitled?! Says the person wanting a discount because....well, because. Sorry, why do you think you should have some kind of discount?

I feel like Nando's is not middle class.

ZombieApocalips · 27/03/2017 17:29

Ordering chips definitely not middle class. Must order quinoa, spicy rice or corn on the cob. 😂

Robstersgirl · 27/03/2017 17:31

Council workers get discounts too.

Dearlittleflo · 27/03/2017 17:36

Ha ha, there was a quiz in the Sunday Times a few months ago titled "How liberal elite are you?" and one of the questions was about whether you knew the ordering system at Nandos. (Knowing it- v much not liberal elite, rotfl)

MaliceKitten · 27/03/2017 18:02

Bloody hell, is this normal for kids these days?! Mine will be getting home made cakes, jelly, ice cream and snacks at home like I did with their friends like I did >.< kids these days sound so spoiled.

RiverdaleJughead · 27/03/2017 18:27

I have a student discount and find KFC is extortionate
