You can get NHS discount but I think it's only on two meals.

DementedUnicorn · 25/03/2017 10:27

You can either afford it and being a tight arse.

Or you can't afford it and are responsible for making one of those spoilt kids. HTH

ShowMePotatoSalad · 25/03/2017 10:30

placemarking in anticipation of some ranty comments Halo

Trills · 25/03/2017 10:32

You're thinking of Pizza Express, that's the one with all the vouchers.

I second the idea of getting a number of platters (and bottomless soft drinks of course) rather than letting the kids pick.

My 7 year old ds wants to go to rick stein for his b.day. No he really does Confused

Chewbecca · 25/03/2017 10:37

£100 sounds like a bargain bucket party

ds's birthday was well over £200 so count yourself lucky! (8 for pizza, activity then sleepover)

Crumbs1 · 25/03/2017 10:41

Nando's should do a discount because the diners have to do,half the work! Fast food environment and food at restaurant prices.

Boulshired · 25/03/2017 10:42

My teenager DCs and friends have a thing about Nando's but then most only order the plain chicken so I really do not see the point.

PetalMettle · 25/03/2017 10:48

I think it's fashionable precisely because it's a step up from KFC. When I was a teenager we thought pizza express was sophisticated as it wasn't Pizza Hut.
I wouldn't expect teenagers to pay for themselves unless they were late teens

ofudginghell · 25/03/2017 10:49

The cost of the meal in itself depending on how many will be going isnt horrendous. (I paid over £150 for a Mexican meal out for ds birthday last year. )It was a big birthday so factored it into the total birthday cost.

This year we will be going as a family for a lunch out somewhere nice and then he can go out in the evening or make plans with friends.
I will be picking where we go as ds has a tendency to pick the most expensive places and meals on a menu and then never bloody eat much of it Confused
That happened once or twice over the years so we learnt to arrange it ourselves to our budget, not the other way round.

No offence but either you factor it in to the total birthday cost and can afford it or you put your foot down.
If she's entitled it's only because you seem to be bringing her up that way.
Keeping up with the jones won't do her any favours when she's older.

B) register for a Nando's reward card and cannily split your order to maximise your stamps - that way it'll still cost you a packet today but at least you'll get a free meal for yourself out of it next time

You can't do that - you can only earn one reward a day, no matter how much you spend.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 25/03/2017 10:52

This doesn't work...you get one regardless of how many transactions you do as it's electric boy stamps now

Therein lies the 'cheeky fucker' thread and why places have to put restrictions in like only 1 reward a day.

MerryMarigold · 25/03/2017 11:00

Surely it should be based on how much you spend, nothing else. Like all the supermarkets. Are you saying, you can buy a coffee and get the same amount of reward as a £100 meal?

bloodyfuming9 · 25/03/2017 11:04

Shall I cancel the cheque?

expatinscotland · 25/03/2017 11:05

Having never been in a Nando's in my life, Merry, but from IHope's post, it appears your rewards stamp is based on the number of times you patronise the establishment for a meal, as you get only one reward stamp/visit. Otherwise, as you see, people take the piss.

JonesyAndTheSalad · 25/03/2017 11:14

You don't HAVE to have it there you know. Just because your child WANTS to does not mean it's a given she or he gets it!

MerryMarigold · 25/03/2017 11:18

I love Nandos, go about once a year though so no reward card! Just surprised it is worked out on 'visits' rather than 'amount of money'. Seems odd to me.

DaisyBlameless · 25/03/2017 11:20

Hundred pound is about right for a nandos meal.
