To report racism to employer?

I have an acquaintance from school on fb who, in light of the terror attack yesterday, has taken to posting disgusting things about how Muslims aren't human beings, 'I think we all know the solution to the problem', you can't be British as well as being a Muslim, etc etc etc.
She works for the NHS, and to me it's worrying that someone with views like that is caring for vulnerable and unwell people, especially given that at some point in her career I'm sure she will come across Muslim patients. AIBU to report her?

OP posts:

muhajaba it is a silly thing to say, and I would imagine they are talking about Muslim extremists and not all Muslims, they are just expressing it in a rather stupid way but even the stupidest person knows that not all Muslims are out to abolish the western way of life. Knee jerk reaction to what has just happened.

Yes report her, she is inciting hatred towards a group of people. I know some posters are saying it can't be racist because she talks about religion, but clearly the 'go back home' comment highlights that the person in question can't differentiate between religion and race. Furthermore, as a public sector worker she will no doubt be bound by the NHS social media policy. Organisations(public or otherwise) do not take kindly to staff bringing the reputation into disrupt.

Rita going on what the OP said she isn't just talking about extremists, she is talking about all muslims- you cant be British as well as being a Muslim I don't see how suddenly developing such strong and abhorrent views is a logical or likely reaction to a terrorist attack.

Absolutely you should report, and good for you in confronting her.

I can't quite believe people are advising you not to. Shocking Angry

Surely reporting this is the same as reporting someone for drink driving or benefit fraud (if you're certain). You are not responsible for the consequences - her employer will be responding to her behaviour. Yes she might lose her job or get a warning but only if her employer decides she deserves to.

Been thinking about this for a while and although I don't think I would report her myself, because I couldn't deal with the potential chain of events, I can see why many of you would.
