AIBU to think Katie Hopkins is straying closer and closer to the line that separates legitimate "right wing" politics, and unacceptable "far right" extremism?

I find this article a) utterly incoherent in its argument and b) utterly abhorrent in its content....

Yesterday's attack is deeply deeply saddening- we live in London and we're heartbroken that this has happened again- but I actually find Katie's bile almost as saddening and troubling- as I fear these are views held by many many more people... sure these are just words, and yesterday saw vile, violent actions... but those actions would have begun with words of hate and anger too...

one thing that really upsets me about the current situation is there are so many happy , mixed communities in the UK. It may not be perfect but there are loads of people living in mixed communities where everything is just fine thanks.

Longer established communities and this is all forgotton by the likes of kh

OMG I had never read anything by KH but I just read the article. Her thinking is very muddled, isn't it? Other than that you can see she is full of hatred and having seen her on TV I think she has a personality disorder. People like her are easily manipulated and can turn into mouthpieces for the real evil guys that want to divide to conquer and will end up destroying this country.
...

nikelarsedstirgin · 24/03/2017 09:46

I suspect that anyone who agrees with katie hoping article, probably agrees with the sentimnets within. Not much explaining really needs to be done does it?

They are surely just letting you know there are people out there who agree.

I think it is a shame, but I think once people have got to tge point that they agree with katie hoping you have to ask yourself why.

I have been clear that I find her comments on khan really awful and don't like the way it is written. I do agree with her that something needs to be done. There maybe should be an approach, such as warnings on all religious material about how certain passages are historical and not suitable to practice on a modern multicultural society.

Some people would say that was a "racist" view and shout me down.

I do not believe it is.

nikelarsedstirgin · 24/03/2017 09:48

All quarans should be printed with this as a waring printed underneath each paragraph which is dangerous in the modern world
That would be blasphemy though. It would be the satanic verses all over again. Publishers would be bombed and beheaded.

Then they are extremists and should be incarcerated and educated.

Imjustapoorboy · 24/03/2017 09:48

Wow those little black shirts are fitting in nice and snuggly on this thread aren't they?

Let's look at the facts. One crazy pathetic excuse for a man who was a fundamentalist islamist lunatic killed people. He is a MURDERER. It's a shame he died as prison would have been a better punishment. He aim was publicity and to create terror and hatred

One crazy pathetic excuse for a woman who is a right wing supremacist lunatic is using the pen rather than the sword. Her aim is publicity and to create terror and hatred

Ta da!

MsHooliesCardigan · 24/03/2017 09:50

I do agree that there doesn't seem to be the range of beliefs within Islam that you get within Christianity, I don't know if that's because Christianity has been around longer so has had more time to evolve.
There are Christians who take the bible literally and those who take hardly any of it literally. There are ultra right wing Christians like Pence who condemn homosexuality and Christians who are fine with gay marriage.

but they come here and take our jobs

Lweji · 24/03/2017 09:52

I think it does. I can explain why I don't agree and which points I don't agree with.
People should be able to explain why they agree and say what with.

I think it is a shame, but I think once people have got to tge point that they agree with katie hoping you have to ask yourself why.

No, we should ask them why. And they should say why. What's the point in guessing or not engaging?
We are accused of not listening, but if people refuse to talk or explain, whose fault is it?

TedEriksen · 24/03/2017 09:52

Her aim is publicity and to create terror and hatred

I disagree - her aim is to get paid. If there was a bigger paycheque in advocating calm and tolerance then she would write that. Her cynicism knows no bounds.

Imjustapoorboy · 24/03/2017 09:52

Oh userblablah

As the saying goes if someone with English as a second language, who is prepared to do the most menial of jobs to create a better life for themselves takes your job then you must have been really shit at it

nikelarsedstirgin · 24/03/2017 09:53

but they come here and take our jobs

What pence? Eh?

Imjustapoorboy · 24/03/2017 09:53

ted I wish that were so. I think she believes her own lies

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 24/03/2017 09:53

Exactly my point poorboy.

Lweji · 24/03/2017 09:54

We should be looking at who pays her...

surferjet · 24/03/2017 09:54

There's an element of truth in a lot of what KH says, that's why she frustrates her critics because they know she's a tiny bit right.

Imjustapoorboy · 24/03/2017 09:55

The Fascist Fail and their fascist mates

nikelarsedstirgin · 24/03/2017 09:57

There is no reasoning with people once they get like kh though. They do not WANT to be persuaded.

It is like SNP supporters. They just can't cope with people criticising their ideology. I'm sure it is the same with ISIS.

nikelarsedstirgin · 24/03/2017 09:58

We should be looking at who pays her...

Thos

Imjustapoorboy · 24/03/2017 09:59

Absolutely!

Tis the tyranny of the myopic. Stumbling forward without thought. It's the same with any followers/believers who do not question a person, a trend, a politician, a religion etc. It becomes cult like

TedEriksen · 24/03/2017 09:59

I wish that were so. I think she believes her own lies

I'm not so sure - I don't believe she has any real convictions but, in Stewart Lee's words, 'has controversial opinions for money'.

I didn't agree with a word Melanie Phillips wrote, and I seldom agree with Peter Hitchens, but I would say their writings come from their convictions. Katie Hopkins is too calculatedly offensive for that, and I believe her to be a supermarket brand version of better writers.

nikelarsedstirgin · 24/03/2017 10:00

Cult like indeed.

user1484578224 · 24/03/2017 10:05

sorry I was being deeply sarcastic. Of course anyone with half a brain could not believe that......oh hang on some people do.

nikelarsedstirgin · 24/03/2017 10:05

I still think all religious texts should have warnings about literal interpretation.

Count2three · 24/03/2017 10:05

The irony is that her biggest critics are every bit as intolerant as she.

We know what she is but this anger is misdirected, be it at Khan or Katie. The terrorists and their well meaning apologists deserve our wrath.
