To be impressed by the metropolitan police and our other emergency services?

Horrible events. But the aura of calm, confidence and control around the response is extremely reassuring.
We have some very good people doing very tough jobs. We are really lucky.

I think they're incredible. We owe a lot to our emergency services and in particular the police who take so much flack but have no hesitation in running toward the danger everyone else is running away from.

Yes..they rush in as everyone else runs away. It's part of their job but how terrifying it must be. And today another police officer has died in the line of duty. Sad

Hats off to them all for their bravery today.

I just hope Teresa May is appreciating all the police that are protecting her today while their numbers are being decimated.

Absolutely Play, I was about to post something similar (but probably much less eloquent).

It's easy to criticise the emergency services - the police in particular come in for a lot of stick - but they do stand in the way of danger when the rest of us are cowering in the corner.

Today's shown how their absolute professionalism and dedication comes through when most people would be panicking and fleeing.

YANBU. We are so lucky to have so ,any incredible people, both police, emergency services and NHS, working so hard to take care of us and protect us.

I'm sure she'll come out with a lot of platitudes about how wonderful the emergency services are. I just wish she'd back her words up.

The impression I've got from watching the news since shortly after 3 is that the damage limitation has been impressive between the emergency services.

You can never eradicate the threat of terrorist attacks, particularly now there's a trend of simplistic low tech approaches that are harder to detect in the research stage, but I feel that it would have been difficult to have further mitigated the damage caused on this occasion.

Enormous respect to all those involved and my deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the officer who has paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.

Also to the bravery of others who intervened to help. The MP who assisted the officer, and the MP who got the tube station shut down to protect the public as well.as others who assisted in the area.

Terrorism, you have failed on me. One person has cowardly undertaken despicable acts of violence, and in doing so shown up the bravery of hundreds of others.

I just couldn't imagine running towards that when most people's gut instinct is to run away. There are some amazing people around!

It makes you take a step back and just realise how trivial some things are. My trains in/out of London were all delayed today (unrelated incident) but is so insignificant when you think of the family's that have been told that their son/daughter/brother/sister/mum/dad won't be coming home again

My DH is in royalty and diplomatic protection with the police.
He's texted me to say he won't be getting home tonight.
He started work at 6am this morning.
The police cuts are absolutely crazy.
They all work so hard but the overtime they all have to do because of shortages is shocking.

They are amazing. The emergency services response to the terrible, horrible, tragic incident today was impeccable.

They were all over it, and quickly got on top of it so there was no further carnage. Our services are a well oiled machine and so efficient.

My heart goes out to the family of the police officer who died in the line of duty, as well as the others who died and all those affected by the actions of that man.

I'm a police officer and this has really affected me tonight. That poor officer and their poor family.

I'm in London for the marathon and try as I may to not be afraid to be in London, I am.

They are brilliant and the underfunding and cuts are appalling. DH is forces and regularly on standby to cover for them which never used to happen.

I'm an ex met police officer. This was my worst nightmare. Our police training is excellent

So those who wish to privatise the NHS claiming it is inefficient.... can't see how this would be done any better tbh
