Horrible events. But the aura of calm, confidence and control around the response is extremely reassuring.
We have some very good people doing very tough jobs. We are really lucky.

I am a PC and this has affected me greatly tonight. It really brings home your little gripes and moans when a colleague has lost their life.

My thoughts are with the innocent bystanders and their families.

Thin blue line a little bit thinner again tonight. 💙

Snap8TheCat · 22/03/2017 20:37

Another one whose DH is still on shift from 7am this morning.

Thoughts are with the bereaved.

I hope we get all our loved ones back home soon

Believeitornot · 22/03/2017 20:38

DontBuyANewMumCashmere

Thank you for help protect us as a PC. What a commendable job you do.

I smiled at the armed police at the station today. I really do appreciate everything they do.

PausingFlatly · 22/03/2017 20:41

Thanks to everyone serving today in London - police, emergency services, NHS.

And Thanks to all those around the country who know what it means to be in the frontline.

This:
Terrorism, you have failed on me. One person has cowardly undertaken despicable acts of violence, and in doing so shown up the bravery of hundreds of others.

DorotheaBeale · 22/03/2017 20:41

Agreed.

And not forgetting the RNLI, who were also out on the river in response to this afternoon's events.

10storeylovesong · 22/03/2017 21:06

dontbuyanewmumcashmere I'm a PC and I've cuddled my little boy slightly longer tonight before bed. We go out there every day, knowing in the back of our minds that we might not come home, but things like this just bring it to the forefront of our minds again. Lots of somber people at work tonight with none of the usual banter.

GinAndTunic · 22/03/2017 21:08

I am grateful to the public services, whatever sector they may be.

niddy · 22/03/2017 21:08

Absolutely, please let us properly value, support and reward appropriately all of our vital services. Let's face it. In any really awful situation that arises. These are the people we expect, and want around us in our time of need.
Although this seems to be very quickly forgotten when awarding financially or otherwise. Sadly.

meditrina · 22/03/2017 21:16

Also, well done to whoever fished the woman out of the Thames.
Was that the coastguard, Port of London police, or just someone be else. On the river?

tinyterrors · 22/03/2017 22:08

I've always been incredibly proud of, and grateful to, our police force, paramedics, armed forces, fire fighters, RNLI, and NHS. Sadly these services, along with many others, have been cut to the bone and its only in times like this that some in this country realise just how important these services and the men and women who work within them are.

My heart goes out to the family of the police officer killed today. He is a true hero.

Thank you nicknacky, notstopped, dontbuy, 10storey and to all those who work, or have worked, in the emergency services and armed forces. I for one appreciate everything you've done to help keep us safe.

Thank you too to ihatethecold, thehauntedfishtank, snap8thecat and all those who have loved ones in the police, front line services and armed forces. Having watched my dad go away to war zones and conflict zones I know the sacrifices you make to support them and the fear when they leave that they won't come back and it's bloody hard and terrifying.

BakingWithPreSchoolerand6YO · 22/03/2017 22:15

Love and thanks to the emergency services and to their families who support them in their roles - jobs that mean they are in danger in order to protect us.

Thoughts are with all those affected by today's events.

Wholeheartedly agree with terrorism failing - just shown how amazing and resilient people can be in the face of hatred.

OllyBJolly · 22/03/2017 22:22

Can I just add my thanks and respect?

The emergency services do an amazing job protecting us all. They don't hesitate, don't judge, - just get on with their job. Yet we allow their pay and conditions to be cut, and their responsibilities stretched.

It's a pity it takes events like today before we realise how much we appreciate them.

Nicknacky · 22/03/2017 22:25

Thank you tiny x

MycatsaPirate · 22/03/2017 22:27

My DD is at uni studying to be a paramedic, she starts placements in May. I looked at those scenes today and realised that one day, that will one day be my dd. Which brings it home that all those paramedics and police offers today are someone's child. Someone's partner, Someone's parent.

RIP Keith Palmer - The Thin Blue Line is a little thinner tonight and my thoughts are with your family, your wife and children.

cowgirlsareforever · 22/03/2017 22:28

I am in awe of their skill, courage and professionalism.

BloodyEatSomething · 22/03/2017 22:31

Something everyone in the country should be able to agree on. Hurray! The emergency service personnel are amazing professionals, and deserve all our support.

UnGoogleable · 22/03/2017 22:33

I have enormous respect for the emergency services.

My first thought when I heard this breaking news was that the Met Police would have shut it down immediately - which they did. Absolutely sterling job.

AdoraBell · 22/03/2017 22:35

Another one here with great respect and appreciation for our police and other emergency services.

Polarbearflavour · 22/03/2017 22:37

Thank you for looking after us.

That poor police officer - left home to start work on an ordinary day and will never go home again. Tragic.

MiriamWebster · 22/03/2017 22:39

Absolutely, I agree, they have done a great job. Heavy police presence around London almost immediately after the attacks. And they are everywhere tonight.

I had to be out and about in London this evening and they are all over the place. Thank you, all of you.

HelenaDove · 22/03/2017 22:46

Well done to our paramedics (who take the risk of being hurt themselves by tending to the injured in incidents like this) our doctors NHS and police.
