To not complain about the KFC drivethru man?

BillyButtfuck · 21/03/2017 21:43

I've just been to pick up KFC for me and DP. I went on my own as babies are in bed and DP still working from home.
The man working behind the drive thru was very forward and called me gorgeous. I awkwardly smiled, took my food and said thanks, didn't think anymore of it.
DP was taking the food out from the bag and came across a note on a napkin saying 'send pics' with the following info.

snapchat: username
Instagram: username

I've had a stalk on his Facebook and he's mutual friends with my best friends little brother and he's 17. I'm 23.

I think just leave it, throw it away and next time send DP to pick up our weekly monthly KFC, DP is quite annoyed about it.

His main point is that it's really inappropriate and if he did it to someone in an abusive/jealous relationship there could be trouble for an innocent woman. He said if he had randomly found a guys snapchat with 'send pics' on my pocket he would assume I'm messing about.

He thinks I should complain. I just want to leave it, it's more hassle than it's worth.

WWYD?

I suspect the posters on here who don't have an issue with what this guy did are the same people who think it's "political correctness gone mad" when women object to being wolf whistled as they walk past a building site.

Glad you reported it, OP

LoveDeathPrizes · 22/03/2017 10:40

What an entitled prick.

BillyButtfuck · 22/03/2017 10:59

As funny as it would be to bombard with funny photos, I don't really want to make any contact or give him my social media accounts. He would probably think it's funny, tell his mates and then do it again for the banter Grin

I haven't heard anything back from the email but will update when I do.

Complain, very inappropriate, and pervy asking op to send pictures of her to him, when all she wanted was takeaway.

ADisappearingDreamOfYesterday · 22/03/2017 11:11

Christ there is some depressing attitudes towards sexual harassment (which is what this is) on this thread.

I would have sent him a photo of my complaint letter, tbh.

JonesyAndTheSalad · 22/03/2017 11:14

Poo it's NOT normal for shop staff to ask customers though!

LoveDeathPrizes · 22/03/2017 11:47

It is sexual harassment. You did not approach that man for conversation outside of the context of his profession.

He overstepped a boundary twice. His note reads at best - entitled and assumptive and at worst, demanding and threatening depending on the experience of who it was received by (which he had no way of knowing)

His communication with you was only enabled by his job - he has a contract in place to ensure such communication is respectful.

I would definitely complain.

Cel982 · 22/03/2017 12:21

The send pics thing is nasty but that's how the kids flirt these days innit.

If it is, then we should be using every opportunity to point out how unacceptable it is Hmm

You were absolutely right to send the letter, OP, he was way out of order.

OddJobMan · 22/03/2017 12:30

Must be m slow news day

BillyButtfuck · 22/03/2017 12:38

Oh FFS Hmm I came on here for advice on what to do not to make a huge deal of it, but some genuine opinions.

Jesus that was fast!

CosyCoupe88 · 22/03/2017 12:44

Haha oh that's ridiculous!

SoupDragon · 22/03/2017 12:44

I notice they didn't use your posting name, OP...

QueenInsomnia · 22/03/2017 12:46

How has it managed to get on the sun!? Really have to be careful what I write in the future Shock
I hope you get a response from KFC soon OP, it wasn't appropriate at all.

BillyButtfuck · 22/03/2017 12:46

I'm guessing he might get more then the 'talking to' that I was hoping for. I'm sure bringing the company into national papers in a negative way will result in a sacking Sad

" I hope you get a boneless feast out of this" Boneless I don't think was on his agenda. Hormones raging, not sure I'd want him touching my order, thanks!

This does though have a serious side on two counts. Firstly "Send pics" is disgusting.
Secondly, and I've asked it before, why is it always mumsnet that gets quoted in the press and television?

I post on larger sites than this that never get quoted, thank God. I suspect both have clauses that all content belongs to them.

MN do have control over a thread, so why cannot they extend that to the whole MN?

I know the arguement of once it's out there and all that, but MN is a community. Sodding Sun and DM will be read by all.

When I first began reading here years ago, this lazy poaching didn't happen, but started I think with the beaker thread.

Sometimes, even the most private of us need to reach out for help, advice or a hand hold.

I nearly did, but it's sorted tentatively since yesterday. So good news.

Had I gone ahead and it been published in MSM, it could well have destroyed our relationship completely.

There has to be an answer to privacy which may be paid membership.

Going back to the OP, her letter was almost perfect but always go back and trim what is not necessary.
Hope you get the apology you need OP and stop this idiot in his tracks.

welovepancakes · 22/03/2017 14:41

I often think people post far too much detail about stories which could identify them / other people involved. Better to give the bare bones of the story

WaegukSaram · 22/03/2017 15:03

Better to give the bare bones of the story

I agree, but when that happens there are always posters who say "Impossible to comment without more detail"!

Hope the KFC kid still has a job tomorrow.

ImaLannister · 22/03/2017 15:17

Yeah just read it and seen it in the sun! On a more serious note I know that you was just looking for advice on here, n now that the papers have got hold of it it's all been blown up to a huge scale. No chain likes it when complaints make it into the papers. He will defiantly face disciplinary action, wether that's a good bollocking or loosing his job. Its out of your hands. What the media get up to on here is out of your hands also. Don't feel bad OP. You did right to send the email and complain, after all that's all you did.

HeeHighls · 22/03/2017 15:20

I hope any one who say's "Send me pics" will be sacked." 17 or 70. It's wrong. Especially writing it on a napkin?
Looking at that message, I wouldn't want to eat that food.

ImaLannister · 22/03/2017 15:22

Definitely not defiantly** damn auto correct dictionary.

BillyButtfuck · 23/03/2017 08:14

Had a pretty generic response saying they are always disappointed when people don't leave as happy as possible.
They have asked the area coach to look into further training locally and they hope I come back soon for something tasty.
