Really close to running out of my stash of Always silk collection unscented pads.

Seems it's now discontinued and everything is scented! WTF has everyone else started using now, instead? :(

I'm lucky to have a pretty light flow, but still need a proper pad rather than a panty liner. Struggling to find anything for normal flow, without wings, unscented.

I really don't want to make the same mistake - I bought a scented pack (it was marked unscented... but odor neutralising... very misleading... I don't trust any of these pads marked "odor neutralising" now...) and had to throw it out straight away, the smell was sick. I know that sounds dramatic, but the smell was... something else. Confused

Mooncup. I have a light flow, so I only empty it once in the morning, and once at night.

When I'm not using it, it is in a blue jar in the bathroom, with a Milton solution in it.

newmumwithquestions · 18/03/2017 19:39

hotcrossbun I have an intimina lily compact. Was a bit scared as I have been 'rearranged' post kids and it was recommended as being softer than some, so maybe moulds to different shapes better. Only used it 3 periods but it only leaked once (I hadn't put it in properly) I do find I have to move it around a bit until I can no longer feel it.
Hopefully a more experienced cup used will tell you how to avoid leaks though!

Screwinthetuna · 18/03/2017 19:47

I'm so surprised that mooncups are so popular! I've never met anyone who's used one (not that it's something you talk about all the time) and thought it was some kind of hippy device that sticks over your cervix.
I've had to Google and then I wanted to see what full moon cups looked like...my internet history must look pretty weird ;) They do actually look good but they're massive! I think I would struggle getting that massive thing up my vagina Shock. I can't use tampons because I find them too fat and they hurt (and I can never get them far enough up so I can always feel it kind of sticking out).
Haven't you dropped your mooncup on the floor? I'd end up dropping mine on public toilet floors or something. The whole thing is a bit fascinating to me, haha.

busyboysmum · 18/03/2017 19:55

They scrunch up so you can insert them then they pop open and lodge. You can't feel them in, can forget about them for the rest of the day. My cramps are much less practically non existent as is any dryness.

TheNewSchmoo · 18/03/2017 19:57

I absolutely love my mooncup but I'm still having to wear a pad as it leaks. Just bought some reusable ones thanks to MN, but can anyone help with where I'm going wrong?

Screwinthetuna · 18/03/2017 19:58

Do they ever fill to the brim, so you have to really carefully get it out, like a full glass of wine? How do you wash it, don't your worry that there might be some bacteria left to grow on it? I guess it's gotta be cleaner than a dirty willy Hmm So any questions...

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 18/03/2017 20:01

Mine leaks sometimes too. I just put up with it as I get TTS from tampons.

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 18/03/2017 20:03

How do you wash it, don't your worry that there might be some bacteria left to grow on it?

During my period I wash it out under hot water when I'm at home. Out I just wipe it with some paper.
After my period I soak it for 24 hours in some milton.
Hardcore you shouldn't store your Mooncup in Milton. It should be kept in it's little bag.

busyboysmum · 18/03/2017 20:04

Mine never leaks but did soon after I'd had ds3 so maybe the muscles need to be strong to keep it in place? I have no clue really just guessing.

I've never done anything other than rinse mine with water and have never had any infections etc

BeachyKeen · 18/03/2017 20:08

I used a moon cup right up until I had my ablation. It was the only way to manage as my flow was so heavy

DrippyWet · 18/03/2017 20:18

I accidentally bought a huge stash of the scented Always pads - they are the best pads but the sickly smell is really revolting and so strong. I find it disgusting. 🤢🤢🤢

You can smell it through jeans.

ChaiTeaTeddy · 18/03/2017 20:25

Track own brand pads. Cheap, ins enter and no different from Always.

ChaiTeaTeddy · 18/03/2017 20:25

"Cheap, unscented ..." That should say

user1480267413 · 18/03/2017 20:29

Tesco own brand cheapies! Not scented, no wings, good absorbency and about 50 pence per pack.

MetalLaLa · 18/03/2017 20:30

I use bodyform unscented (orange pack) you can get them for under £1 in discount shops such as B&M too which helps.

SuperFlyHigh · 18/03/2017 20:31

The best pads I bought unscented were in Barcelona, a Spanish brand. Should've started importing them!

coffeetasteslikeshit · 18/03/2017 20:32

Moon cup. Love love love it.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 18/03/2017 20:34

I've taken to using waitrose own brand incontinence pads. They are unscented and very comfy. Quite cheap too.

Madbengalmum · 18/03/2017 20:36

Always infinity are unscented and the best i have found.

haveacupoftea · 18/03/2017 20:37

Another vote for Always Infinity they are really good.

Madbengalmum · 18/03/2017 20:39

Always infinity are 2 for £4 at boots at the moment too.

LavenderDoll · 18/03/2017 20:42

After advice on here bought a mooncup- it's amazing won't be using anything else going forward

Bangkokbaby · 18/03/2017 20:43

I use a mooncup and cloth reusable pads. The cloth pads are such a revelation. So soft and comfortable and the fabrics are so colourful. It's like having a tiny pillow in my pants! You get none of the sweaty, sticky feeling of normal pads. My period is also pretty much pain free since I started using them.

MontyPythonsFlyingFuck · 18/03/2017 20:45

Poundland usually has the orange (unscented) packs of Always. And I'm a massive Mooncup fan - for those of you asking how to stop it leaking, you might need to have a prod around to make sure it's covering your cervix - if you bear down it's pretty easy to tell IME.

The other thing to bear in mind is that lady tena pads are unscented, or rather have a sort of homey smell (can't really explain it, but had to borrow some from my mum when I was caught short staying with her) - certainly infinitely better than the scented monstrosities. They do fairly teeny ones now.

rainbowsockstoday · 18/03/2017 20:47

Mooncup and csp's it means I always know I'm safe, healthy and I'm not creating unnecessary waste.
