To take the kids to the park at 7am?

We have an hour and a half before we leave for school. They've been up since 6am. They're breakfasted, dressed and getting bored. This is a regular occurance but now the weather is nicer I had a brainwave that a trip to the park would help pass the time.
Or will we become the weird family of the village?

Id do it! Are they old enough so that you can sit at the side with a coffee?

Alternatively doed the school have a brrakfast club they could go to earlier just to get them up and out?

Depends on the location, if it is somewhere very residential I wouldn't go too early!

Do it. As long as it's not too close to houses you'll be fine. My friends use to take his kids swimming early doors as the would have been up since half 5/6

When my dc were little dh would take them to the park at 730 every Sunday morning so I could sleep. They wouldn't come back until at least 11.

Won't they expect that every day? Also as others have said, if it's too close to houses they'll be noisy. How about a 24 hours tescos?? .

Seriously, I'd be looking to keep them in their rooms until 7am, doing a quiet activity by themselves. I have early risers too.

Be aware that everything will be damp as the dew won't have had a chance to dry off so take a towel or wear waterproofs.
We did this loads in the first year of DC2's life. 2.5yr age gap so DC1 was able to have a go on most things by herself & I could sit on the bench & bf DC2 whilst she played. I didn't have to worry about her being knocked over, pushing or being pushed, not taking a turn etc as there was no one else there. There were a few spots out of my eye line but, again, I didn't have to worry as what could happen?
There's a Tesco Metro on the High St so we used to call in there on the way to the park or home & get a croissant.

I'll keep on top of the noise levels and be mindful of the neighbours.

I don't think they will mind going this early. They keep asking for the tv but it causes havoc with them fighting over what to watch and then play up when it's time to turn it off - I don't think it puts them in the right frame of mind so tv is no longer allowed before school.

So instead they now bicker and argue whie complaining they are bored. (My parenting fail of the month).

I used to do this with my two when they were younger, I had waterproof 'overtrousers' and macs for them to wear to protect their uniforms, it was great fun. It's not a problem of you got to a closed off play park bit but if you want to kick a ball about on a grassed area be aware that 7-8am is a prime dog walking time (or at least it is around here).

Obviously no considerate parent would let their kids scream their heads off but normal playing noise shouldn't bother anyone.
I would totally go to the park.

We quite often have spare time in the morning but the 'local' park is too far away. I would take them, as long as it's not too near houses or your dc are reasonably well behaved (mine would be screaming and shouting).

In our house we sit at the table and do some reading or writing (dc enjoy, I don't force them!).

DD and I go to the park about 7am in the holidays, it's beautifully quiet, the play area bit isn't near any houses though so there aren't any neighbours to upset.

I often take my two very early to the swings. They both wake up at around 6am too and once they've had their breakfast they have a tendency to get bored. Thereafter, the tantrums and wailing start. Better to bung them in the pram and get out of the house for a while! More often that not for my sanity.

Take a towel as pp have said to wipe down the damp equipment

Posted too soon, we don't go on school days because DD can be an absolute brat about leaving the park when I tell her too and we'd end up being late for school, she'd arrive all tearstained and stroppy and it's just too much hassle.

I work as a nanny and do this kinda stuff all the time or we might go for a walk in the rain jumping in puddle scooter ride a ride on the bike. We have been known to take a breakfast with us. one of our parks is away from houses and even lit at night. Go for it.

Just because you are up does not mean everybody else is. Everybody else on this forum is trying to be considerate and kind, shame there is always one who is not.

Do it! I'd would have loved to do this as a kid and my local park was just a short walk over the field from my house. Your children will think you're amazing for letting them do something fun before school, and will probably tell all their friends /teachers about it.
Like previous posters have said take some water proofs or towels to wipe off the dew & as you've said already you'll be mindful of the noise. Who knows you might start a new trend

A P whose DC are up by 6, who has the strength to ban early morning TV, have the essentials sorted, and contemplating healthy activity at 6.52 is , in my book, a giant among parents, and has no business applying the words parenting fail to themselves.
