To take the kids to the park at 7am?

We have an hour and a half before we leave for school. They've been up since 6am. They're breakfasted, dressed and getting bored. This is a regular occurance but now the weather is nicer I had a brainwave that a trip to the park would help pass the time.
Or will we become the weird family of the village?

School starts at 9. Round here, good schools have a catchment area of a couple of hundred meters diameter, so 5 minutes walk. I know loads of people getting up at 8.

Kids need a lot more sleep than adults. Unless they are going to bed ridiculously early they are going to be sleep deprived getting up at 6am regularly.

I'd do it and not give two hoots about a dirty uniform.

toffee yes I had a snigger about people worrying about dirty uniform too! It's only a bit of dust - nothing like the caked on food/paint etc they come home in!

And realpootroll my kids get up at 6am regardless of what time they go to bed - so I have to put them to bed 'ridiculously early' in order that they get their 11-12 hours sleep. I could push it later but they'd still be up at 6!

pointstaken what lazy-arsed world do you live in where sleeping in past 7 on weekdays is normal! It sounds blissful, mind you...

Why do you need to be up at dawn if you don't start work until 9? Confused

Haven't managed to get out to the park early yet because the weather has been bad.

They both go to bed between 7-7.30 sometimes 8 if we have had a busy evening.

Eldest is 6 now and has always woke early. As a toddler he liked to wake at 5am but as he has got older I was able to get him to stay in his room until 7... until the youngest moved out of my room and now they wake each other up.

The rule is still 7am but if they really want to be up earlier then the eldest is expected to get dressed and serve cereal for them both. Gives me a little bit more time in bed at least!
