And 5ft 9?
I've put on loads of weight and would feel comfy being a 16 but it's a long way off.
I'm guessing I've about 8 st to lose to be a 16. I'm disgusted with myself BlushSad

OP, don't focus on how much weight you will lose per week, or what size you will be when you've lost X stone, but on eating well as often as you can. Weight loss is not linear and the number on the scale is only half the story.

There will be slip ups and days when the right food is not available, but you just have to do the best you can and get back on it as soon as possible.

If you have a lot of weight to lose, it's never going to be possible to stick to a diet plan 100% for what will be several months at least.

As to what sort of diet you do, depends on what food you like as the world's fussiest eater, any allergies or lifestyle factors as it has to be workable long term.

Trying to eatlow carb high fat if you are vegetarian will make things difficult for you, or if you don't cope with hunger very well, 5/2 might also not work. If you say what your likes and dislikes are and whether you cook from scratch or eat quick ready prepared stuff, are feeding just yourself or a family, people might be able to suggest which sort of diet will work best long term.

You need to think of it as a lifestyle change not a 'I will lose X stone by Y date and then I can go back to eating what I like, because that's how you've gained weight in the first place.

RentANDBills · 15/03/2017 17:01

I'm 5ft8, currently 11st10 and size 12.

Two weeks ago I was 12st6 and size 14.
But my life fell apart and I stopped eating, not a diet I'd recommend!

tiredbuthappyworkingmum · 15/03/2017 17:02

5ft8.5 and nearly 15 stone and size 18 currently. In my 20s and 30s I was always around 10 stone and a size 12. Now I am in my 50s it is so hard to lose weight... I know I need to exercise more. I'd like to lose two stone to get back to size 14.

LBOCS2 · 15/03/2017 17:12

5ft 6, size 16-18, and I'm about 16st (I haven't weighed myself in a while but everything fits the same as it did when I was 16st).

I'm quite balanced in size - I'm all boobs and bum mainly, but I've just gone up a bra size to a 38H. I'm breastfeeding - but also just have massive boobs. I was a 32DD when I was a size 8.

I'd drop a lot of weight if I stopped drinking wine, I seem to gain most from alcohol. I've ended both my pregnancies lighter than I started them because I'm not boozing at all Blush

Miniwookie · 15/03/2017 17:22

This is why there is no point asking this question OP. (No offense meant, I struggle with my weight and like to know what I'm aiming for too)

To ask how much you weigh if your a size 16/18?
nebulae · 15/03/2017 17:59

A quick and easy method is to wrap your thumb and middle finger around your wrist, just above the wrist bone. If your fingers overlap, you have a small frame. If they just meet, you have a medium frame. , if there is a gap you have a large frame

This makes me even more baffled about my own size. I'm 5' 10" and weigh 12st 7lbs. I wear size 16 jeans. Yet lots of people on here weigh much more, at a similar height, and wear size 16 or even less. So I must have a large frame right? But my thumb and middle finger overlap quite a lot using the above method. My second finger overlaps. My first finger meets. I'm not small framed, nobody would describe me as small framed.

Astoria7974 · 15/03/2017 19:05

Nebulae - you might be pear shaped, more toned or wearing a proper size 16 that hasn't been vanity sized. For ex I was a H&M 16 in jeans/trousers while being 13 st at 5 7.

Itsnotwhatitseems · 15/03/2017 20:45

thanks for that nebulae I now know I am a small frame, hence I should be 8 stone and not 10 stone 4 (both acceptable for 5ft 4).....sadly I am currently 12 stone so need to lose closer to 4 stone than 2 :(

Somuchweighttolose · 15/03/2017 21:04

Oh gosh that is true with that pic isn't it!

I like; meat, cheese, bread, beans, mushy peas, potatoes, curry, milk then chocolate Blush very very limited.
I tend to have a lot of beef stews with peas or chilli & rice

I'm not buying the wrist measurement thing. I have long fingers and can easily overlap them. My wrists are quite small but I have wide hips, rib cage and shoulders, my frame is most definitely large! At the smallest I have ever been as an adult (11 stone) my hips and ribs protrude horribly. I know women with small frames who are my height and a stone or more lighter than me who don't look wrong at that weight. But I most definitely would.

NanooCov · 15/03/2017 21:15

I'm 5ft 6 and a 16-18 and I currently weigh 94kg which is about 14st 11lb

notasausage · 15/03/2017 21:17

13.5 would be a comfortable 16 for me. If I can get under 13st I'm at the top end of a size 14. I'm 5'7"

Wordsaremything · 15/03/2017 21:47

Hello
Your post really resonated. I can sense your desperation.

Listen. You can definitely do this. As to how - you know this really, I'm sure, but smaller portions and more of the good stuff less of the bad. Particularly avoid ready meals and too much sugar. I would avoid low fat products as they tend to be full of sugar.

Gradually you'll really start wanting more of the healthy stuff - your body will crave it.

Meal plan and prep as much of your own food as you can. Invest in some lovely containers(systema are good) for meals on the go.

I have bought a nutri bullet and am having fun with juices and smoothies.

No alcohol, or very little. Lots of water.

Make it about fulfilment and abundance not denial and punishment. You are nourishing your body with lots of good things.

As the weight comes off, do a little gentle exercise and gradually increase it. I use the pacer app as a motivator. It really helps. There are also, some great documentaries on Netflix - hungry for change is a good one.

I've lost over 20 pounds since Jan, another 20 odd to go. Down to a size 16 trousers ( stretchy material, but still!) from a size 20. No crash diets. They won't work in the long term. Slow and steady is the way to go.

Dress size is only part of it though. My skin glows, my eyes are bright and my hair is shiny. I sleep well and wake refreshed. I have lots of energy and I feel healthier than I have in a long time.

Last year I could barely get out of bed some days, so the change of eating habits has been transformational.

You can do that too.Smile

Somuchweighttolose · 15/03/2017 22:01

words thank you I really appreciate it, it's all good & true, I need to stick with it.
Good tip about Netflix I didn't think to look on that.
Well done on your weight loss :)

Before pregnancy I was 14st7lbs and a size 16 at 5ft7.
My lowest weight was 10st and I wore a size 10 very comfortably. I also had more muscle mass then.

P.s. muscle does not 'weigh more' than fat. That's bullshit. 1lb of something weighs the exact same as 1lb of something else, they both weigh 1lb! However muscle takes up less room than fat and so someone weighing 10st with 18% body fat will look considerably smaller than someone weighing 10st with 28% body fat and so on.

fortheloveofcheese · 15/03/2017 23:30

I was looking through to see how I compare with someone my height. There isn't anyone Grin I feel like an oddity. I am 5ft1 and weigh 8.12/9st ish although I think I am shrinking and may be 5ft. So many tall ladies, you lucky things.

Tamberlane · 16/03/2017 06:05

When I was 15 stone I was a 16, sometimes 18....I'm also a 16 when im 13 stone,size 14 at 12 stone....I'm 5"6 and built stocky!

Ive had massive success with myfitnesspal when I needed to get back on track.
Its all diet for me.I was doing interval training for a long time and was at one stage a very fit 15 stone! but only got results weight wise when I started to manage my food and calorie intake.

Emma98 · 16/03/2017 06:06

I'm 5ft 2 I was size 16 and 13 and a half stone pre pregnancy and I'm currently 14 stone and wearing more 18s than 16s x

Bellerophon · 16/03/2017 09:56

Wow, wow, wow

Somuchweighttolose · 16/03/2017 13:03

I will download myfitnesspal, it seems its worked well for a lot of people :)

5ft 10, 13 stone

NotCitrus · 16/03/2017 13:52

I'm 5'8" and more of an 18 than a 16 now, and just under 14 stone.

Sallycinnamum · 16/03/2017 14:01

It's bizarre reading this because I am 5ft5 and weigh 11 stone and I'm a size 16.

I've got massive boobs and hips though, which doesn't help.

I've been cutting down my portions and avoiding carbs and have lost 2lbs in three weeks. Not exactly speedy results but hey ho.

stabbybitch · 16/03/2017 14:16

Size & weight really does depend person to person. Iv recently put on over 2 and half stone, and finding it really hard to buy clothes.
I'm 5"5, 11.1stone and a 10 on top & 14 on thighs and bum but my waist is a 10ish, I can't get jeans to fit they are either too big round waist or too tight to get over thighs.
I'm a total pear shape and always have been but it's now extreme. Im starting to live in yoga pants as they are only thing to fit at the moment.

Astoria7974 · 16/03/2017 18:22

Same stabby bitch. I wear the larger size due to my bum - my waist is 24 inches. Generally women who put the weight on on their boobs and tummies will wear a lower size than women who put it on their hips and thighs. It's just how Uk fashion seems to work.
