To be heartbroken at yet ANOTHER fave product being discontinued?

InMemoryOfSleep · 05/03/2017 09:14

I have just discovered Thorntons have discontinued their strawberry fondant chocolate pigs, and I am quite frankly devastated. These have been my fave little treat since I was about 12, and now they are no more!

It's the latest in a long line of favourite products being discontinued - does anyone else get unreasonably irritated by this?! I'll start a list, feel free to add to it...

  • Thorntons strawberry fondant pigs (sob)
  • Benefit 'So Hooked on Carmella' perfume
  • Lush Aqua Mirabilis (my thighs will never be the same again)

DiscoBear · 06/03/2017 21:46

Prescriptives make up

@DanniiMinogue the name of the body shop exfoliator was Japanese washing grains they were amazing! Really miss their passion fruit face cleansing gel too.

erudiostressed · 06/03/2017 21:49

Asda got rid of tomato garlic bread can only get cheese.... olay stopped doing my vitamin toner and biore stopped doing ice blemish cleanser so you are not alone quite frankly fed up of finding something I like then it being discontinued!!!!!

WanderingStar1 · 06/03/2017 21:55

Helens - yes Cabana bars, I loooooved them!!

Also Heinz toast toppers (yes - I know!! .... but the chicken and mushroom, and mushroom and bacon ones were actually nice, and so quick and easy.......) Blush

Also Morrisons' ready meal sausage and pasta bake (hmm see a theme here)

And coffee walnut whips. I know M&S do their own but my nearest is miles away......... Sad

DanniiMinogue · 06/03/2017 21:56

Thanks to StUmbrageinSkelt , Napoleon's Nose and Disco Bear for providing the correct name for the Japanese Washing Grains

Morrisons used to do an amazing cheese and onion bread, and a cheese and pepper bread, freshly baked. A little bit soggy but gorgeous. Local store doesn't do the pepper one now and the cheese and onion is so stingy on the topping you may as well not bother with it.

.....Robin Starch.....I really miss it. Sad, but true. A very nostalgic fresh scent.

As for the travesty that is "Cadbury" surely there is an enormous opportunity for someone to bring back proper tasting chocolate in all its many wonderful guises? I dont even bother buying chocolate now, it is so disappointing. And therefore pointless.

In the late 70's Walls (I think) produced a lemon sherbert icelolly with a white candy coating. It was truly awesome. Anyone remember what it was called? of course I am far too young to have tried it, someone must have told me about it

YorkieDorkie · 06/03/2017 22:15

Toffo 😢

OwlinaTree · 06/03/2017 22:32

Oooh galaxy truffle eggs!

QueenRefusenik · 06/03/2017 22:36

@SloanyAnne - perfect curls is back in a new guise?! What do I need to look for? Tell me I will no longer have to fill up suitcases with the stuff when I visit Spain or the US!

SophieGiroux · 06/03/2017 22:39

Vo5 colour shampoos - loved the silver blonde and golden blonde. smelled lovely like apples too.

Delial sun lotion circa 1995 before it got taken over by ambre solaire. Was lovely smelling and absorbed nicely, not sticky. Found some old after sun on eBay a few years ago which had the lovely scent but it's gone off now Sad

burblish · 06/03/2017 23:05

Batiste dry shampoo for black hair. Can only get the one for dark brown hair now and it doesn't compare.
Body Shop perfume bar, bath pearls and Ice Blue shampoo
Cadbury chocolate before it turned into quasiHersheydogshit
Spearmints - like Trebor Mints but softer chalky texture and spearmint flavour
Rimmel Black Cherry lipstick
Armani Gio and Acqua di Gio (for women) - my favourite perfumes ever
Krunchie Puffs - tiny packets of maize puff crisps that cost 5p a bag
Coffee creams in selection boxes
Worcester sauce twiglets

burblish · 06/03/2017 23:11

I've just remembered another one - a little tube of blemish zapping gel from the Dead Sea range. Gutted when I couldn't find that anymore.

2468whodoweappreciate · 06/03/2017 23:18

Cadbury chocolate philadelphia Sad Twas gorgeous.

SloanyAnne · 06/03/2017 23:21

Queen sadly not. They've named it similarly but according to the reviews it's rubbish and people want the proper stuff back.

Kelsar · 06/03/2017 23:29

Benefit perfume - horrendous news
I love love love the smell
When did they stop doing it ? And why ?

Kelsar · 06/03/2017 23:31

Tab clear awesome
Do you also remember the Hubbard bubba drink in a pink can??

Kelsar · 06/03/2017 23:33

Rimmel - Heather shimmer - didn't everyone own one at some time ??

Titsywoo · 06/03/2017 23:35

Vladi10 - waitrose do pork pies with cheese and pickle. They call them ploughman's pies.

Pandakin · 06/03/2017 23:46

Asda's BBQ veggie burger mix, nobody seems to remember it but it was fab to keep in the cupboard. I think the sausage mix has gone now too and the branded version was changed so it looks green from all the herbs and has a horrible overpowering flavour. :(

Superdrug B foundations and other makeup, they stopped producing them months ago for rebranding. Hoping they don't fiddle with the actual product but they probably will.

Aldi dark chocolate digestives which were addictive until they added milk. The Morrisons saver hazelnut chocolate spread was also lush as a treat then they added milk. My heart sinks when I see "new improved recipe" on the stuff I really like.

Those wooden hair brushes from The Body Shop I loved, I ordered a few on Ebay with bamboo bristles and handles which are better than plastic but not quite as good.

Flozle · 06/03/2017 23:48

Body shop watermelon self tan. Never streaked, perfect colour for my pasty skin;
Thorntons champagne truffles (egg shaped, white interior: very different from the things they're trying to pass off as a champagne truffle nowadays);
Ben and Jerry's Vermonster;
Coffee walnut whips (M&S do a fake one, but they don't actually contain a walnut, ffs).
Harrumph.

Jeanneweany · 07/03/2017 00:10

5 centres fondant chocolate bar.
Coffee walnut whip.

RedRoseMummy · 07/03/2017 00:11

Yes to Mignons Morceaux and the Burger King Mushroom Double Swiss!

Do any of you remember the Caesar Salad bottles from a few years ago. You got a little jar of marinade for your chicken and a bottle of salad dressing all wrapped up together so it looked like it was one bottle. I think they were Hellmans? I loved them!

I love a strong, pure Gardenia fragrance bit it seems like every time I find a range I like it's been discontinued by the time I want to buy it again.

BrianCantsPants · 07/03/2017 00:15

Galenco peach bubble bath. Twas gorgeous in smell and amount of bubbles Sad
And to all those crying about old fashioned chocolate that is no more, I highly recommend trying www.aquarterof.co.uk for old sweets from the past. He specialises in retro sweets and I believe I have seen Texan bars on my kitchen table on the website Grin

raspberryblush23 · 07/03/2017 00:44

Boots 17 supervixen eyeshadow: it was a perfect pale iridescent pink and I've never found anything close to it. Also spira bars and Starbucks vanilla spice latte.
