To be heartbroken at yet ANOTHER fave product being discontinued?

InMemoryOfSleep · 05/03/2017 09:14

I have just discovered Thorntons have discontinued their strawberry fondant chocolate pigs, and I am quite frankly devastated. These have been my fave little treat since I was about 12, and now they are no more!

It's the latest in a long line of favourite products being discontinued - does anyone else get unreasonably irritated by this?! I'll start a list, feel free to add to it...

  • Thorntons strawberry fondant pigs (sob)
  • Benefit 'So Hooked on Carmella' perfume
  • Lush Aqua Mirabilis (my thighs will never be the same again)

Just remembered Phineas Fogg Mignons Morceaux sort of mini garlic bread chunks. They also used to do peanut snack which was peanuts with a very thin, crispy coating. They were very savoury and extremely moreish. DH and I loved those.

ShatnersBassoon · 05/03/2017 19:16

Ooh, just remembered Phileas Fogg Mignons Morceaux. They were the most sophisticated snacks ever.

Laineymc7 · 05/03/2017 19:17

Secret bars
Chocolate cornflakes
Prescriptives makeup. Gutted I can't get my foundation anymore. I bulk bought years ago.

ShatnersBassoon · 05/03/2017 19:17

Ha! Perfectly synchronised drooling over garlic snacks Grin

MaQueen · 05/03/2017 19:18

Clinique's Sheer Tint Moisturiser in Blonde SPF 15. Just the perfect shade for me, and my fail safe Summer coverage. They still do it, but have changed the shades, and none of them work for me Angry

Laura Ashley's L'Eau perfume. I would pay a lot of money for a bottle of this.

Nicky Clarke's Hairomatherpay shampoos and conditioners - smelt divine.

adaisychain · 05/03/2017 19:19

@Laineymc7 I found kellogs chocolate cornflakes in the pound shop the other week!

Laineymc7 · 05/03/2017 19:21

adaisychain thank you. I must have a look. I have not seen them in any supermarket for years. Looking forward to a box now. Smile

EchoesOfLeon · 05/03/2017 19:26

The microwave popcorn that had a big slab of toffee that you melted over it, would kill for that!!

SoleBizzz · 05/03/2017 19:33

Cadbury coconut boost, salt and vinegar Krunchie Puffs.

Mummysh0rtlegs · 05/03/2017 19:34

marcel's minions we used to call those phileas fogg things, oh god I want some NOWWWWWW

Sundaysmumisfullofwine · 05/03/2017 19:38

I can still taste those Phileas Fogg garlic breads. The biggest treat ever, a bag of those.

Sparklingbrook · 05/03/2017 19:40

I liked the Phileas Fogg Shanghai Nuts.

Cremolafoam · 05/03/2017 19:44

Is the phil fogg factory still even there in Consett?

Wordsalad · 05/03/2017 19:45

Wholemeal golden syrup cake, can’t remember who made it, it was shaped like malt loaf.
Wholemeal carrot cake, from the range you get in health shops with fermented/sourdough which as far as I know is still on the go.
New York Cheddar flavour Kettle Chips - the mature cheddar ones are not the same.
Body Shop Mountain Dew perfume oil in the 1980s/ early 90s. Even though it sometimes stung slightly (I could only wear it inside my elbows/knees, skin too sensitive to oil in the usual places) So many memories of youth in that perfume.
I was in tears when they discontinued Moncler Derma, a vague skin treatment, sometime in the late 1970s or 80s I think. It was a yellow gel that actually looked a bit yellow when it went on. But it turned out that it was just working as an oil free moisturiser on a slight patch of dermatitis. Mind you that was just before oil free non-comedogenic moisturisers came onto the market. What on earth we did before that, if using a drying skin treatment for acne, I can’t imagine.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 05/03/2017 19:46

Looney toons crisps, they were crisps with the outlines of the characters in flavouring on them.
Also no idea what brand, but icecream which was half milk choc and half white choc flavour swirled together.

BaldricksWife · 05/03/2017 19:52

Victory V gums.

ChristmasEvePJs · 05/03/2017 19:56

Walkers sensations Mexican crispy thins... they were amazing and nowhere to be seen now.
Special K multigrain almond porridge.
No7 Divine (nude pinky) lipstick.
My favourite ever UGG thong sandals with a heel strap... tan leather with a stunning bronze metal plate.
I feel rather depressed after writing this post Sad.

Binkybix · 05/03/2017 20:02

They still do feasts!

Secret bars were sort of a mouse on the inside with a chocolate lattice on the outside. They didn't last long.

Yes to coffee revels.

My own lost one is Very Vermonty Ben and Jerrys. All the ones now are so sickly and yuck.

Binkybix · 05/03/2017 20:04

Oh - in the 80s there were these ice lollies that had some sort of jelly on for inside, and elephants on the pack. Anyone remember those?!

BellMcEnd · 05/03/2017 20:11

Boots used to do this lilac coloured body lotion called Tahitian Gardenia. That was lovely.

Could really go for a bag of Phileas Fogg Mignon Morceaux right now, washed down with a can of Quattro.

As an aside, wasn't it Mignon Morceaux that spawned the whole Pomme Bear thread? Didn't the husband bottle out of saying "care for a Phileas Fogg Mignon Morceaux?" and offer Pomme Bears instead at a dinner party?

Binkybix · 05/03/2017 20:12

I never had one but I think I would have loved the Frys 5 fruits. I feel robbed.

kierenthecommunity · 05/03/2017 20:26

The Bar Noir which was the plain version of Bar Six

Salt and vinegar/cheese Snaps. You still see the tomato ones in some places but they were my least favourite

Knoodles which were the Knorr version of Pot Noodle. My sister and I used to get one as a Friday night treat from Asda

Quosh squash, especially the orange and pineapple one. So sweet it made your eyes bleed

CottonSock · 05/03/2017 20:28

Yes to spira, fuse, coconut boost

Just discovered my tea discontinued . Was lipton moroccon, then rebranded pg tips herbal mint and spice, then mint and liquorice... now gone. Have purchased in bulk.

Also can't find in any shop my vaseline deodorant

Hidingtonothing · 05/03/2017 20:31

Ooh also Nibbits crisps, they were a sort of wheel shape and came in onion and vinegar or plain I think, massive bags for about 50p.
