To be heartbroken at yet ANOTHER fave product being discontinued?

I have just discovered Thorntons have discontinued their strawberry fondant chocolate pigs, and I am quite frankly devastated. These have been my fave little treat since I was about 12, and now they are no more!

It's the latest in a long line of favourite products being discontinued - does anyone else get unreasonably irritated by this?! I'll start a list, feel free to add to it...

  • Thorntons strawberry fondant pigs (sob)
  • Benefit 'So Hooked on Carmella' perfume
  • Lush Aqua Mirabilis (my thighs will never be the same again)

Bumble & Bumble leave in conditioner. It's so hard to find a decent one, and without it my hair is like pubes. Pubes made out of straw. I resorted to paying £100 on amazon for one from America (ridiculous but a bottle does last for months and months!) but now even that source has dried up.

Found a philosophy one but it's not as good.

Also paco rabanne XS Pour Elle and Ultraviolet - I loved those in my 20's!

Killerqueen2244 · 05/03/2017 16:18

Another one for Fuse bars, I'm sure I saw a Cadbury twitter campaign about bringing either that or the marble bar back. Must have dreamt it cause I'm pretty sure Fuse woulda won and I've not sniffed one out yet!!

Also missing Dermalogica Treatment Foundation, the new stuff is like orange paste and I'm too lazy/sad to find a replacement that suits my almost transparent skin! 😬

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 05/03/2017 16:26

sundaysmum I think I love you! Need to get DH to take me to Heron to check this out!

phizzwizard · 05/03/2017 16:27

Almost - you can still get feast ice creams - well, they sell them in some corner shops near us. Ice cream vans sometimes sell something similar but not quite so nice, can't remember what they're called though.

I still yearn for spangles, and a Next perfume, bergamot and rich amber I really like seems to have vanished, and I find it really hard to get perfumes I love.

saveforthat · 05/03/2017 16:32

Someone upthread mentioned a cappacino cake, M&S do a cappacino roulade. It looks a bit boring but is the nicest cake I have ever had

misskatamari · 05/03/2017 16:40

So many things! Yes to mingles, they were ace!

Things I'm gutted have been discontinued are Ghost - Summer Dream perfume. It was our for a couple of summers in the early 00s and is my absolute favourite perfume. I have got on at the moment which I managed to find on eBay, but it's reserved for special occasions.

Random but Morrisons used to do a wholemeal frozen garlic bread, and it was delicious! Wish they still did it.

LightOfTheSun · 05/03/2017 16:46

Yes! As a pp said, the Burger King veggie whopper (and King fries)!

Completely delicious.

Replaced with a disgusting bean and pea burger which doesn't even match the shape of the strangely no bread tasting bun. And is soggy. With damp lettuce.

Sara Lee chocolate gateau is the taste of Sunday tea in the eighties.

Benefit did a really lovely foundation before the one that's out now. It was called Non-Fiction.

Heinz baked bean pizzas that you microwaved, I still think about them regularly. I used to go to my grandparents in my early teens to play games on their computer. My nan would always take me to Waitrose to buy these and she'd 'cook' me one whilst my new game downloaded and would bring it to me in the office. They were delicious.

Tesco used to do a filthy dirty delicious pasta ready meal. It was just tomato sauce based but it had two big garlic dough balls in it too. It was disgustingly good.

woodwaj about 2 years ago in summer in a newsagents near East Street, Walworth London I found both ready salted and salt and vinegar chipsticks so they are still made!

I did a happy dance!

HunterofStars · 05/03/2017 16:52

I also miss Wimpy's bender in a bun. In fact I miss Wimpy altogether.

Yellowbird54321 · 05/03/2017 16:55

Bon matin body spray and Carousel boxed chocolates. No one else ever remembers either!
The Carousel chocs were so fab - all different and unusual flavours - must have been the 1980's when they were around, I can't remember who made them but seem to remember the box being white with the word 'carousel' across the front in colourful fairground type font lettering. My Mum used to always buy me a box on my birthday.
I've had flashbacks of Cadburys Lovelys from reading this thread - I'm sure I remember them but didn't know they were called that!
I remember my Mum using Tweed perfume but imagine that was discontinued years ago? Bet if I smelled that again it would be v nostalgic.

Bitza Pizza crisps, ready salted Chipsticks, Potato Puffs, Piglets...

I've always had a love of salty snacks, and the choice has really gone downhill over the years. Where are all the delicious cheap crisps nowadays?

HelenRose1111 · 05/03/2017 17:02

Clinique Blended loose Powder (the one with the brush) - I used 01 transparency until they discontinued it about 5 years ago...I bought up every one i could find on eBay but I've used them all now...WHY? WHY? The replacement Colour is literally grey (I'm very pale, and this was the only powder I could use with just concealer underneath .....argh! )

Still not found anything equivalent which covers and matifies without going orange.
Unless anyone knows otherwise?

Cabana....mmmmm
Opal Mints / Pacers
TErrys Neapolitans
Frys 5 centres....

Just thought of another, Bobbi Brown Blush lip colour ...grr. Annoying as it's still on her colour chart but you can't buy it? WTF

ShatnersBassoon · 05/03/2017 17:04

Yy to Carousel chocolates - 'a whole sweetshop in a single box' Smile

Miserylovescompany2 · 05/03/2017 17:39

Found an empty Carousel box on the net...made by Terry's.

MadisonAvenue · 05/03/2017 17:47

Walkers Poppadom crisps, they were around in the late 80s/early 90s and were curry flavoured. Just a 30g bag or thereabouts and they were so tasty!

Miserylovescompany2 · 05/03/2017 17:49

Does anyone remember fruity toffos? I bloody loved them :(

Yellowbird54321 · 05/03/2017 17:49

Oooh shat you remember them too Smile
That's them misery - lettering different to how I remember but that box just makes me smile - thank you Smile

Yellowbird54321 · 05/03/2017 17:50

And yes misery I remember fruity toffos - bloody loved them!

Yellowbird54321 · 05/03/2017 17:52

And Tooty fruities! And Tooty minties (I think - not sure if I've just made them up now Confused

BoJolly · 05/03/2017 17:53

Smith's savoury vinegar crisps. Last seen in the '70s Sad

In fact, Smith's crisps in general. Their Bovril flavour was also delish.

SuperFlyHigh · 05/03/2017 18:01

Shatners they must make them still because you can find Chipsticks (very rare mind you and some shops only stock the salt and vinegar ones).

HunterofStars if you're ever down south there's a genuine real Wimpy in Beckenham went there about 2 years ago. M

SuperFlyHigh · 05/03/2017 18:03

look what I found Chipsticks

I miss a cake from the 70s. I think it was Mr Kipling, a delicious fudge cake. They also did a chocolate version. Mmmmm

ChessieFL · 05/03/2017 18:06

Does anyone remember Inspirations? Think they were Cadbury but not sure. They were fruit-based chocolates and they came in a box with little drawers. I liked them.
