It's interesting to see that some of his vocal supporters here have been quiet on this.

Yes, Morgan, looking at you. Morgan's been tweeting about Arsenal and seems not to be concerned about the 'tapping'.

Have I said this before? I'm getting so thoroughly sick of people mocking Trump followers for their spelling.

Someone tweets (via TrumpRegrets) "After voting for you and supporting you, I realize now I made a huge mistake. Your not a little egotistical, your just NUTS".

Instant response = "What is it with Trump voters and your/you're? FFS".

I was called a nag on Twitter earlier for calling someone out on the same thing. (Ironically he was more insulting to me than any Trump fan or bot has been).

But it drives me nuts: why mock people? It will never ever make them warm to you, or make them more likely to listen to you. It just makes you look like a smug git - and I say that as someone with 2 degrees from a very good uni. Angry

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 20:01

By the way, Kitty. I'm not as despondent about Gorsuch as some people. Smile

CussingQuim · 05/03/2017 20:01

(Gah! Which wasn't meant to sound like any kind of boast, just saying I bloody know the value of spelling and vocabulary, but they're not the be-all and end-all. Especially when someone's meaning is completely clear.

It's a bit like threads on here where people tear into the OP for their spelling after something like "help my daughter's bin run over" instead of helping.)

BiglyBadgers · 05/03/2017 20:09

I agree cussing. I also don't believe there is anyone on Twitter (on any other site for that matter) who has not made a spelling/grammer mistake while typing on their phone in a rage. I do it all the time. It is not an indication of a lack of intelligence, it is an indication of the fact I am human and technology is sometimes annoying.

BiglyBadgers · 05/03/2017 20:12

Saw this thread from a CNN anchor saying contacts in the WH have told him Trump did indeed get the wire tapping thing from Breitbart.

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 20:20

And where did Breitbart get it from? Smile

CussingQuim · 05/03/2017 20:24

Grin Dum, I do think that the freaking President of the USA should be more careful and use spell-checkers. Can't help eye-rolling there.

But having said that, even when there are typos or errors, the meaning is usually perfectly clear.

It just often feels like a form of bullying to me on those who are, for whatever reason, less able, and it misses the point of the (sometimes reprehensible) things being said. And mocks them when we need solidarity and understanding.

I dunno though, this may well be an Aspie obsession frustration of mine! I may try and stay offline for a while now and do some distracting stuff Smile

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 20:25

Just ignore them. (The pedants.) Smile

BiglyBadgers · 05/03/2017 20:28

Trump's big mistake was trying and failing to correct it. If he had just left the first one I doubt it would have caused all that much of an eyebrow raise.

If that was about me commenting on "week" (sic) on the Fox site, well I'm not sure what to say. I didn't comment on the Fox site directly. I was just observing that some of it was quite poorly written by picking up on it in my post. Of course, their meaning was clear but the raging typos/spelling errors made me wonder about their general level of education. That's absolutely not to say that many very bright people don't have problems with spelling - there are very sparky dyslexics in my family.

CussingQuim · 05/03/2017 20:37

No Mort, it was me talking about people's replies on Twitter Smile

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 20:38

He doesn't have a clue, Bigly. Not a clue.

Ouch.

Lweji · 05/03/2017 20:46

The problem with Trump's misspellings is that he called other people (particularly the previous administration) stupid, he called himself highly educated and that he knew all the best words. It's his arrogance that makes it a problem.

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 20:49

Lweji

It's that which makes everything he does a problem!

Neverthelessshepersisted · 05/03/2017 20:56

1 Go Pope F!

2 lol at "I'd play more golf if I were him."

3 I agree that misspellings/misused apostrophes in otherwise clear messages are not a problem that needs challenging plus there is no appropriate way to do it.

4 how weak are the Democrats? Is it us bad as Labour here?

amispartacus · 05/03/2017 21:06

Misspellings - Piers Morgan takes great pleasure in retweeting mistakes people make when they tweet him.

Of course, people who take great pleasure in doing that usually fuck up and make a mistake with their spelling - and then get hoisted by their own petard.

OP posts:
CussingQuim · 05/03/2017 21:15

I actually had to unfollow Piers, his was the one account out of all thos Trump follows which raised my blood pressure every time he tweeted. I'm (honestly) usually quite the pacifist, but my feelings towards him are far from it, the little troll.

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 21:22

Sounds rather like 45, ami. Grin (Hoisted with his own petard.)

They're pretty weak I think, Nevertheless. It's the particularly difficult time frame allied with the current lack of real candidates. I think you're going to see a stalking horse or two - to challenge President (Pence?) - and then someone will 'emerge' in 2019. Just my own thoughts, though, and very dependent on how things develop.
