AIBU?

Anyone else a little envious of celeb mums like Holly Willoughby?

I know I am being totally irrational and unreasonable but does anyone else think like this? Holly seems to have the ideal life. Great job, great working hours. Husband who earns well. Beautiful, healthy children. Can afford a great house, good child care, close to her sister, turns her hand to most things and makes good money from her ventures blah blah.. Same with Louise Redknapp, great lifestyle business she runs with a friend, beautiful husband , lovely home, supportive extended family. It's not like they are awesomely great at what they do.. I just feel a little envious that's all. Daft isn't it!

Nope, look at Peaces Geldoff - you never know what's really going on and they must be under huge pressure and scrutiny.

Must be nice to have a successful, exciting quirky, well paid career but i imagine it's hard to juggle with a family.

Philip Scofields a good example of a man whose wife stays out of the spot light. She'll have the benefit of lots of money without having to be in the lime light herself. The down side of course is being married to him.

Another downside would be always wondering if he's secretly comparing you to his glamorous TV wife Hmm

Another Judy & Richard fan.
The trashy magazines are forever trying to find unflattering pics of middle aged women and stick them on the cover.
What are they trying to prove?
It makes me want to buy their magazines even less.

I love that phrase Tinsel. I'll have to remember that for future reference.

Friend of a friend is a well established actor, normally 4th or 5th on a cast list, has done loads of TV. He has been offered leading roles, but doesn't like the trade off of losing his privacy for the media circus mega fame brings. He and his wife have been together since university, they live in a small village where everyone knows and ignores them. The wife is on the PTA and used to run Mother's and Toddlers. They seem to have found a good balance and work hard to keep it that way.

I wouldn't like the paparazzi following me but a lot of celebs call them anyway. It's just perhaps to me she seems quite smug and perhaps I'm seeing that the money seems to ease any issues she may encounter. But I'm definitely intrigued to read the 'rumours'. I'm off to google!

The magazines i see on the shelves seem to have it in for Judy Finnigan dont they? always unflattering pictures of her, more than a few hints of drinking problem and thats just the front page, god knows what they actually write inside the mag! Or a picture of them both looking stressed.
Must be awful to be under the spotlight like that all the time.

Has anyone watched any of the In Therapy series on Channel 5? That'll put you off being a celeb!

Report
seagazer · 01/03/2017 10:01

Yes i've watched those "In therapy" programmes. The cynical side of me thought "how much are you getting paid for this". Then i think how much some of these vain celebs must love having a whole hour devoted to their self absorbed ramblings. All those "self pity" tears.

Sea gazer you are probably right . They can make money even if they are miserable by selling their stories to magazines etc. I certainly don't envy Coleen Rooney, or most of the wags, even Victoria Beckham, as I really feel they will have done major demons to deal with. ( Why would posh be so utterly skeletol ) if she was truely happy? I just got the impression Holly didn't seem to need to worry about much. But like other people have pointed out, I really don't know what goes on behind closed doors. So I'll take some comfort from that and try to stop over analysing .. After work I'll go read some gossip sites instead :-)

i think the key to happiness secret is something that money just can't buy. Granted it helps a lot and gives us freedom, but why then i wonder are so many celebs miserable, e.g. Victoria Beckham. No matter how many big houses, flash cars and exotic holidays rich celebs have.....it's never enough is it. That's because things can't make you happy, You can guarantee they'd give it all away in a flash if it meant the difference between wealth or health.

Holly's life , nor her husband are not as perfect as they look like. And childcare was a problem at one stage too.

Downright nasty if you ask me.

Tiddler Oooh, i'm intrigued. Can you elaborate?

Holly is beautiful & seems like a lovely person, I used to follow her husband on Twitter and he was hysterical. I can see what she sees in him. He appears to be successful & funny and I don't think he's unattractive.

I am "jealous" that she can afford a Nanny, she's also mentioned that her mum has helped out in the past. My mum works full time so can't help me out that much when my freelance work gets very demanding. I'd LOVE my mum to be able to help me more, until I can afford a nanny!

Jamie redknapp has cheated on Louise before and still does. Don't believe what you read.

Yes Tiddler, do you know more than what's reported. ? Love to know. Always wondered if Jamie R would have been tempted away, he was a footballer after all and a good looking guy, so probably has women offering themselves to him regularly. I don't think I've read anything negative about him though.

I had to google Holly's husband and i didnt think he looked too bad to be honest- i dont know much about her and him and i dont buy the gossip mags.
Mind you, my dear Auntie used to have a theory ( and it was only her theory!) that anyone who is naturally pretty or attractive always go out with people that arnt - that way they can keep the spotlight on them! might be something in that - we are programmed to acknowledge beauty even if we say that we dont do this.

Holly's husband isn't the handsome looking type of guy that celeb women tend to go for. I think your Aunt may be right, as I've wondered if she went for someone who is clever/funny/dependable but also knowing perhaps she wouldn't have to worry too much about women throwing themselves at him(like footballers wives often have to put up with).

I wouldn't hate to have her life, she's done well and has healthy kids and never has to worry about money.
She must hardly ever see her kids though and must have missed out on so many of their milestones/school plays/school trips/cuddling them all day when they're ill. Her life won't be all a bed of roses

Report
The80sweregreat · 01/03/2017 11:44

No, i am sure there are times she wished she didnt have to get up at the crack of dawn and look fabulous and just slob about at home with the kids when its the holidays or whatever - women work and dont get the perks she must also get, so its all swings and roundabouts i suppose.

Her previous nanny hit her child on the playground, and people saw it, so the nanny was sacked.

Husband is arrogant and not so nice to other people.

Holly is nice but not easiest to work with. Will not tell more, can't afford to be outed.

HW's husband: IMO would be good looking/attractive in normal real life contexts. He's just not preened and good at posing for cameras

See Tiddler, that's the news I want to read. That celebs are actually normal people, that they go through normal everyday issues and are not a 'perfect human'. I can understand why young impressionable girls can get depressed when all they see is a picture perfect lifestyle being portrayed. Same with us tired, over worked mummies!
Wonder if Holly is on mumsnet? Oops!

I had to Google her, and her Wikipedia page lists what sounds like a fairly grim slog through stints of modelling pants, presenting routine children's TV shows, before moving on to the most vacuous-sounding adult TV - Celebrity Wrestling: Bring It On?

It's not my definition of 'enviable'.
