Driver caused me to emergency stop and just drove off!

Hi,
I've just returned from going out with my 20 month old daughter in the car. Whilst driving along a road, a learner driver pulled out in front of me, causing me to emergency stop, the driver just carried on and swiftly drove away. Am I being unreasonable to be shocked that the driving instructor in charge didn't get out to see if we were ok, or even awknowledge what had happened. We are ok and I have his reg no.
Thanks!

OP isn't coming back, but anyway: you should always be travelling at a speed whereby you can stop if something unexpected happens. 30 was the speed LIMIT, not the target speed.

Coming round a blind corner with a junction out of sight? There was probably a sign warning you, but even if there wasn't, I'd have still been travelling less than 30 if I was in a 30 limit and couldn't clearly see the road ahead.

Also, some of the responses on this thread had me chuckling Grin

I think we need to see the Compo face for the win.

Catlady1976 · 28/02/2017 18:12

Well if you come back op Yabu but I get it. The 1St time someone pulled out on me on a roundabout cause me to brake and swerve with pfb in the car I overreacted. Hand on horn etc. Not my finest hour but I was so shocked.
These things happen sadly as nobody is perfect.

Oblomov17 · 28/02/2017 18:15

Ha ha. This thread is well funny. 20 mth old prosecution. Ha ha.

Oblomov17 · 28/02/2017 18:17

Where's the diagram?
At least the supermarket cafe thread had a diagram the other day!

GrumpyOldBag · 28/02/2017 19:01

I hope I am not going to be slammed for pedantry here ....

but it's brakes, not breaks. More than one poster has made this error.

PurpleDaisies · 28/02/2017 19:04

Not sure whether it's a minor or a major on the car test though.

Minor-my driving instructor said as long as you were stopped quickly enough and restarted the engine it wasn't an issue.

cauliwobbles · 28/02/2017 19:14

God have you got one of those awful 'Baby on Board' signs in you back window?

RockyBird · 28/02/2017 19:16

No need for them to stop if there was no collision.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 28/02/2017 19:21

Thank God you got the reg number! Now you can report this learner driver for not being a very good driver.
Oh wait....

Seriously, get a grip! Being a learner driver is fucking hard and you are always going to make mistakes. Try being a bit more sympathetic and remember how you felt as a learner.

Writerwannabe83 · 28/02/2017 19:25

Loving the fact that the OP got the registration details because they made her do an emergency stop Grin

You are seriously over reacting.

Poor OP was just a bit shook up and wanted to vent.

Not really. She also made up some new laws. And wants to report someone for breaking imaginary laws.

She wasnt just having a vent/rant. She actually asked if she was b u to be annoyed that nobody got out the car (just round a bend in the road so there would have been 2 cars stopped in the middle of the road) to see if she was ok as it was a legal requirement. Shock

Everyone pointed out that she was BU due to circumstances and the fact that nothing actually happened to warrant this. She also sat in the road, where she admitted there was a bind corner and wrote down the reg number of the other car. She obviously thought she could 'report them' for breaking her imaginary 'law' and expected everyone to tell her to do so. The irony of sitting in her car just round a bend and possibly causing a real accident was apparently lost on her.

When everyone didnt agree and pointed out her error in her knowledge of the law she didn't come back not even to admit to her mistake Smile

KateDaniels2 · 28/02/2017 19:48

Annoyed and making up a load of rubbish to support her outrage. Thats not a rant.

NotStoppedAllDay · 28/02/2017 19:53

Poor op??

PurpleDaisies · 28/02/2017 19:57

Hot sweet tea is disgusting. I'd go for wine instead. Smile

MamaMoose1 · 28/02/2017 20:02

I haven't replied because I'm not going to fuel a load of bitchy women, your replies were unhelpful, just bullyish and childish and I was spending quality time with my children, as you do. There are so many assumptions here, it's laughable, yes maybe he didn't need to get out of the car, but a hand up to acknowledge wouldn't have gone amiss. I was neither speeding, it wasn't a sharp bend (whoever made that up) the road did bear round to the left slightly and I could see ahead, it was not a sharp bend as someone else made up, the instructor should have double checked himself and used his dual controls. I am always cautious on roads, never have ever sped, the road is notorious for speeding drivers and this would have been a collision, if I hadn't acted quickly. I am generally a courteous person, if i caused someone behind me to stop and holt to a stop, I would check and apologise myself, I have experienced whiplash in the past, which was the result of an emergency break (not my fault), so I am as a result, anxious of driving. I am just so glad I don't know any of you personally, you sound like miserable women, who have nothing better to do than bully someone online, if you have nothing constructive to say, don't say it at all. Oh and I wonder if this happened to you all, you would just laugh it off. Peace!

YY purple. If I ever have a nasty shock or accident one of my biggest fears is that it's going to be made worse by some helpful sod trying to force sweet tea down me. Bleugh.
