Northern Ireland goes to the poles this Thursday. Our local government collapsed following the exposure of a corrupt scheme, endorsed and allegedly protected by the first minister. The deputy first minister resigned so we are without government and on the cusp of direct rule from Westminster.
Fellow northerners... please join me in voting out the status quo. Please vote for anyone other than the DUP and Sinn Fein. We've got nowhere with these clowns for the past 10 years. Give peace a chance. Give your vote to alliance, people before profit, the sdlp, the uup.
Hold the self proclaimed 'First Lady of Northern Ireland' accountable for what she has done. £500,000,000 of your cash would have been squandered on her cronies had she not been exposed! Come on, use your vote!!!!!!!

I totally agree with you. Won't be voting for any of the anti choice, anti gay marriage hypocrites either though. Alliance or PBP. Also don't think anyone outside NI gives a flying...

The thought of going back to the 70's & 80's here is terrifying, but somehow seems closer than ever post Brexit/Trump etc.

Foster needs to go but she won't because her grassroot supporters are stuck in a time warp manipulated by fear and they foolishly believe that a vote for the DUP will keep the "Catholics at bay" because we're all monsters who need to be held down.

The politics of green and orange benefits the DUP and Sinn Féin because it strengthens the "divide" and it is this division that keeps both of these parties relevant.

The people will vote pretty much in the same way as they did 8 months ago and we'll end up with the same bunch of lying, thieving fuckers back up in Stormont but Stormont does not work and will not work, it never has.

The whole thing is a shambles - That said however the "smaller" parties are no better for the most part, I wouldn't vote Alliance, TUV, UUP, SDLP, GREENS but I do like some of what PEOPLE BEFORE PROFIT are offering and I would hope their share of the vote in the least increases this time around; I can certainly see McCann and O'Carroll re-elected and I would like to see Ferguson take some first preference votes from the shinners, the DUP and the SDLP.

Im sick of the lot of them. Unfortunately a lot of young people think it changes nothing so dont vote. Had a facebook discussion with one and he just steadfastly refused . Im voting to bring n.i in line with peoples rights in the uk and the south of ireland. Arlene Foster showed herself to be petty bitchy vindictive and downright nasty over the proposed bill to protect the irish language . She has clearly forgotten what language her forebearers here in n.i spoke . Sinn fein are no better. They dont speak for me they never did.

It's a complete shambles. I won't be voting for either the DUP or the Shinners. Do you reckon the Executive might collapse anyway, over the Irish Language Act issue? I can't see a Foster/O'Neill combination working at all well.

I can't see it working either. Foster needs to go. Any other politician in any other part of the world would have stepped aside at the very least. She is so damn arrogant it's unreal. That news release she gave after the rhi stuff first broke was comical. It was like a scene out of the simpsons and she was like mr burns! She should have held a press conference and answered questions from the press. She's awful!
I really hope they don't come back with the majority vote. I think there is a lot more yet to come with the rhi scandal.. I don't think we have heard the half of it.

I work closely with a number of MLAs for my area (I'm not in politics) & I see the groundwork they put in. I've met lots on the campaign in recent weeks, all promising the earth...

I also attend a lot of local council meetings & see the work the elected members put in at grassroots level.

TUV are useless at council level, (in my area anyway) yet I've met & spoken to Jim Allister, heard him at public meetings & admire his intelligence - but the man's buckin mad!

I'm in a mixed marriage & historically dh & I voted nationalist & unionist to 'balance each other out' but I've a feeling we'll be taking it more seriously this time.

Out of curiosity, have you lot had many of them at your doors?

Had 1 UUP at the door. Came home from work today to a DUP leaflet and guess where that went!!??
I've no doubt many of them do work their butts off.. it's the select few that give the hard workers a bad name. I'm just so angered by all the corruption and cronyism in the DUP. I've no doubt the shinners have a few skeletons.

From the feedback I'm getting (via work) a lot of them are worrying.

One DUP MLA I know of was only elected last year & from what I hear is panicking like mad - he ditched his well paid managerial position to sit on the assembly & he is at risk.

I can't help but feel it'll be a case of 'same old' though. My dd is 15 & can't wait to be able to vote. But it's shocking how few of the teens are interested.

My two nephews are 21 & neither have voted before. I'm not even sure they're going to vote this time.

My sisters never vote, my mother never voted. This year one particular party has helped me lots with DLA/blue badge/cater allowance forms, so I know I'll vote for them. Bur I can't see a massive change from the norm.

In the last election I switched my usual choice & give SDLP a go - but then they didn't show for a vote on gay marriage & went away down in my estimation.

And I haven't had one of them at my door. I've had flyers from Alliance, TUV, DUP, SDLP & a letter from Michelle O'Neill mo chara

No-one at my door. I'm East Londonderry ward. Voted for Claire Sugden last time and won't be making that mistake again. RHI scandal showed how deep into Arlene/DUP pockets she is. Green/Alliance in my constituency. The Green Party candidate hasn't a hope in hell, but I completely agree with his stance & politics. Alliance good too, but wishy washy on integrated education which is an important consideration for me.

And agree with the apathy surrounding voting - but it's not limited to the younger generation. Marginalised liberals from my parents generation also don't vote because they can't change the foothold of the DUP. I'm convinced them that times, they are a'changing, and they have voted last year and will again this year.

Is that the CC&G area you're under? Or more the Derry side?

There's a new Alliance candidate in North Antrim this time - saw something in the paper this week from her. She was in a local integrated college (Bmena I think?) & was saying how important it was for their voices to be heard.

I bloody hope so. Someone just tried to kick our door in, and we are suspecting that it's because of a Donegal reg car out the front (not ours). Sectarian politics need to go.

Ridiculous. Particularly when anyone you're speaking to these days just want to get on with everyone.

I've had hardly anyone at the door, and if they do come they shove a leaflet through saying 'sorry we missed you'. They're too spineless to even come out and try to justify themselves.

I loathe the DUP and I loathe Sinn Fein. TUV are like some kind of frothing madmen party. UUP are mildly less offensive than DUP, but not exactly forward thinking. SDLP don't have much regard for women. Alliance couldn't even be arsed posting a leaflet through my door or publicising their candidate in any way. I don't even know their candidate's name, as they haven't bothered putting posters up or campaigning.

It's a grim situation.

Loathe the DUP and Sinn Fein. Will be voting Alliance as usual, also PBP. I can't stand Mike Nesbitt but will probably give the UUP guy a vote.

Glad the main parties are quaking in their boots. I don't want Arlene back. I also don't want a costly Irish language act which is purely political.

I've had the SDLP and the DUP at my door. I enjoyed telling the young lad from the DUP that they would get my vote when they supported women having autonomy over their own bodies and anyone in a relationship to marry. He scurried back down the path as quick as his legs would take him, he wasn't stopping to debate with me.

I would have voted for the SDLP in the past but I'm really disappointed at their stance on abortion and gay marriage. I see Claire Hanna's breastfeeding bill as a bit of tokenism if I'm honest. I'm thoroughly depressed living here with the dire representation we have at present, there needs to be a massive change if we are to move forward, sadly can't see it happening though.

The greens, alliance and all the smaller parties will be getting my vote.
