AIBU?

Up, dressed, ready & out in 15 mins?

DH can do just this. Out of bed, quick shave, brush teeth, quick shower, towel dry head hair. Put clothes on ( jeans, shirt, jumper) Put shoes on, pick up wallet & keys.. Done.

AIBU to be jealous?

I hate having to wash my hair, dry it, straighten it, put makeup on every day. If I wash it the night before it feels dirty in the morning. On the rare occasions I don't bother with makeup (I don't wear much) people ask me if I'm ill because I look so rough.

How long does it take you just to get up and leave the house?

I just wanted to say, you don't need the makeup if you don't want it. People will comment on the change at first but once they get used to it the won't even think about it. I never wear it and no one comments, and it's not because I'm naturally stunning Wink

Pre DD I could be out in 15 mins, but I bathe and hair wash the night before, wear hair up and no makeup.

I'm still on mat leave so not got to be at work but I generally plan an hour to get out with a 5 month old. That leaves time for a feed and two poonamis.

25 mins including hair wash here. Add on another 5 mins for breakfast. Take 5 minutes off if I'm rushing and hasten the time in the shower.

We (me and 6yo dts) can be up and out inside 30 minutes. I hate it though it's all dressy and shouty. Instead I get up at 620 to leave at 815. Gives me 45 minutes before they wake up of peace and quiet and coffee time. Dh is ready in about 15 minutes but he doesn't deal with the kids in the morning.

I don't shower in morning - I do it early evening and hair drys naturally.

I can get up, dressed and out of the house in 10 minutes.

The reality is I'm up at 6.30 and leave at 8. I like time to have a coffee, search the internet, watch news etc.

Alarm goes off at 6.10am and I leave the house at 7.50am. That includes a snooze till 6.30, leisurely shower with hair wash every day, breakfast whilst watching the news, tidy up a bit, shout at children to get out of bed, leave house.

I cannot imagine trying to get ready in 15 mins and think it's a completely pointless race against time!

I'm not seeing people nentioning getting the house sorted in their morning routines. I include things like airing my bed, opening windows, making sure all wet towels and bathmats etc. are on radiators, rinsing breakfast bowls and cups (no dishwasher) and generally making sure everywhere is tidy before I leave the house, which I don't think you could do, along with getting yourself and your children ready, in under 30 minutes. I'd be stressed all day, knowing I'd be coming home to a messy house.

If I go out looking like the walking dead I can do it in 15 minutes but that's "bed hair", no make up and a casual outfit; I usually reserve this "look" for Sundays and time off.

The rest of the time (which is 90% of the time) it takes me about 80-90 minutes for a shower/brush teeth, dry/style hair, moisturise, make up, dress but that also includes at least 2 smoke breaks, a quick read of the papers online and lots of morning cuddles with my babies (dogs).

People who tell others that they look unwell with no makeup should be told to get an eye test and not be such dicks. Thick black and red circles look godawful.

Your hair wont be dirty if washed the night before. If you are stuck with ugly frizz ( my natural look) it is worth an annual boring few hours in the hairdresser to deal with it. Straightening to tidy then takes five mins.

Your choices , but there are ways to make less work.

On a hair washing full face of makeup day I can easily be approaching an hour and a half so that should make you feel better. I have long, very thick hair which even with a heavy duty drier takes a good 30 minutes to dry well (just blasting it takes 15).

I also have blotchy spotty skin (and have it regardless of whether I wear makeup or not before anyone starts!) so for me if I'm wearing it minimum makeup is moisturiser, primer, colour corrector, foundation, concealer, blusher - but once that's on I also feel at least mascara and lipstick of some sort are needed cos on me, full face coverage then no lips or eyes looks a bit odd. But I'll sometimes do eyeshadow/eyeliner if I have time and feel so inclined.

I don't sort the house Creme. Our house is generally tidy - I fold the duvet half back and open all the blinds, towels are hung as they are used. My porridge bowl and coffee cup go in the dishwasher.

DD (10) gets herself ready, makes her own bed, hangs her own towel up, puts her own stuff in the dishwasher.

On Fridays (I don't work) we get up at 8:05 and leave at 8:35. My 15 mins is just for me, when I go to work and leave DD&DH at home.

I can do this in about 20 minutes.

However during the week I can be up and out the house in 5 minutes. I work 3 minutes away from work as a nanny. I also start work at 6.30am. So I make as much use of my bed as possible, then get dressed - head to work for breakfast and my morning cuppa. I am glad my toddlers don't care how I look in the mornings Grin

I can be quick. Woke up late on Thursday and got myself and three kids up breakfasted and ready for swimming including putting on washing machine, doing dishes, mopping kitchen floor and putting dinner in the slow cooker in 50 mins.
However, I was barking orders and sick of the sound of my voice by the time we left the house. Also swimming was key as nobody had a shower.

To everyone saying hair doesn't need to be washed everyday.. lucky lucky you. I have incredibly thin hair and have to wash it everyday. Everybloodyday. If I don't the following morning it looks wet it is that greasy. Sure it might eventually 'self clean' but in the meantime I have a job that requires me to work and interact with people, I have friends and acquaintances I see. I have to do school runs, and shopping trips and brownie drop off and parents evenings and meals out. I'd sooner bic my own head than go out with slick wet look greasy hair for 1,2,3 or more days.

30 minutes for me and one year old. Shower, dress, run straighteners through hair, no make up, change and dress DS (he has a cup of milk whilst I'm getting ready), pick up bags that are packed the night before and leave. DH makes me a cup of tea so that saves me some time and I make breakfast the night before to eat at work. Feels leisurely. I've done it in 20 but a bit rushed. Pre DS I could get myself out of the house in 10 minutes, 15 if I wanted tea.

Posted too soon. On a weekday in term time I am usually up at 7 and leave the house at 8:50. Rarely have to nag anyone, get chance for a leisurely cup of tea and can and have deal with any last minute requests the DC care to throw at me for example making a hungry caterpillar costume when DS2 decided he didn't want to dress up as a spider for the ugly bug ball after all.

Yes, mine is too, Barchester, but it still takes a few minutes each morning to do those things both you and I have mentioned, to keep it that way. I suppose as a single parent, the difference is if I want to come back to a tidy house, I have no choice but to make sure I have enough time to do it in the mornings.

My ex would get up at least 90 minutes before needing to leave the house. He'd faff around with his hair in the mirror for at least 10 minutes - it wasn't even in any high-maintenance style, just short back and sides.

Whereas I wear a wardrobe of neutrals so everything goes with everything else, and my hair is dry so I only wash it twice a week max. If I washed my hair ever day I think my scalp would fall off. I hope you at least have short hair OP!

You do have a problem there. You hair's not dirty.

If we're talking "casual", I can get out in less than 5 mins: pee, splash face, throw on clothes (sometimes loose trousers and a jumper on top of pyjamas, so I can go straight back to bed with the paper). Grin

I only do this if I'm just walking to the local shop and back though, I have to have at least a cup of tea if I'm going further afield.

On work days I take for ever. Now I'm so ancient, my knees and hips seem to wake up long after the rest of me and it takes ages before I stop walking like I'm practising for a role in a zombie movie.

If I had to I could be out within 30 minutes, without my lo obviously, and if I didn't have to wash my hair that morning (I wash and straighten my hair every 3 days- don't need to do it more than that)
Up, very quick shower, take 5 minutes to drink my tea (I never have breakfast), then get dressed. Run my straighteners over the end of my ponytail (I always wear my hair like that for quickness and ease), then I'm good to go. I never ever wear any makeup, so don't have to do that.
Obviously I prefer not having to rush, but I could be out in 30 minutes if I had to. If I had to wash my hair before I go out, then you're talking a couple of hours or so.

Hour and fifteen minutes.
I have to make myself get upright when the alarm goes off.
Turn the light on in the children's room, have a quick shower, throw clothes in the direction of my 6 year old.
At this point DH is up and bumbling about. He usually deals with the toddler, so I make DH's lunch when I am dressed.
Fill the 6 year old up with toast, give the toddler a banana and eat my own breakfast.
Usually we get a few minutes breather before we have to pile out the door on the school run. Depends on how much faffing around DH has been doing.
If I attempted to wash my hair daily and aim to leave the house looking vaguely human, I'd have to add on an extra half an hour.

I can often manage to get out of bed 30 mins before having to leave the house. Get up, use the loo, wash, dress, brush hair, get stuff that's needed for the day and out.
