DH can do just this. Out of bed, quick shave, brush teeth, quick shower, towel dry head hair. Put clothes on ( jeans, shirt, jumper) Put shoes on, pick up wallet & keys.. Done.

AIBU to be jealous?

I hate having to wash my hair, dry it, straighten it, put makeup on every day. If I wash it the night before it feels dirty in the morning. On the rare occasions I don't bother with makeup (I don't wear much) people ask me if I'm ill because I look so rough.

How long does it take you just to get up and leave the house?

You could cut your hair in a style that you don't need to straighten and use a minimum amount off make up - just concealer, eyeliner/mascara, blusher and lipstick perhaps.

why it's so important to be out the door in 15 mins.

fair question. I used to be in the train at 6h30, coming home anytime between 8pm and 10:30 pm, so for me, faffing about my hair and spending time getting read meant having LESS time for having a life. Literally takes 2 minutes to do make up. I used to go for a jog a couple of times a week, and I need my sleep. Less faffing also = more sleep Grin

Wow. What would you consider a lot of make up?

Of course it is kids that make all the difference!

It's one of the many unspoken things that women tend to take on in families: getting the kids ready in the morning.
My DH this whole selfish getting-himself-ready, then waves cheery-bye and trots off to his place of work - he leaves earlier than me, which obviously means that I am responsible for school clothes, lunch boxes, lunch money, signing school forms/letters, finding extra bits like costumes/arts and crafts materials etc etc Hmm - and no, I don't do all that in the morning (there insanity lies) but it is part of unspoken women's work.

And before you ask, I have pointed this out to him, and he simply does not see it Hmm - yes, I should LTB, but he does have redeeming features. Humph.

Today it took nearly 2 hours. But that includes the hour and a half strop from DS

I'm not zooming about like a blue arsed fly, I just have everything organised so that it works smoothly and quickly. Things like brushing my teeth while the shower runs hot, planning what I'll wear while I'm in the shower so I go straight to the right drawer when I'm out of the shower (and air dry at the same time). It's all about the critical path! And minimising faffing to maximise sleep!

God. You need to get over the whole "it feels dirty" thing. It's obviously not dirty if you washed it before bed.

Just spray a bit of water on it and brush it or just brush it! I could never go through that hassle in the morning!

why it's so important to be out the door in 15 mins.

Because lying in bed for as long as possible in the morning is a wonderful thing.

So far today it's taken me 4 hours just to think about getting up. But then it's not a work day :-)

Pacific You are, as ever, so right. I deliberately leave before the kids wake up on my working days to avoid this (but pay the price on dealing with forgotten / late stuff that evening or my next non working day).

@haveacupoftea I am so glad I am not the only one who spends a good ten minutes every morning perched on the bed staring at the wall. I have no idea why I do it but it seems completely necessary.

I usually get up at 6.15. Make a cup of tea, sort out happycat, make sure DS is awake, go back upstairs. Shower and wash hair every day (has to be done every day) then perch on side of bed for aforementioned staring.

Then get dressed, dry hair, straighten hair, full face of make up. Pack lunch, make sure I have whatever I need, throw DS in car if taking him to college and leave around 7.30.

This!

I can't imagine having to wash my hair every morning before leaving the house. Far too much effort.

Staring? Really?! Grin

I am Not Good in the morning and I never wash my hair in the morning if I can help it (well, I don't wash my hair every day anyway). And no make-up here at all Grin, but aforementioned kids + hound + guinea pig - tbf the boar is the easiest one of the lot!

When I was a teenager, my alarm would go off at 6.30am, I'd get up at 6.45am (because, yes, every minute in bed is a precious one) and be out of the house by 7.10am - washed, dressed, breakfasted and school bag with everything I needed - to catch a train at 7.30am. Every school morning, without fail. I have no idea how I did that.
I think having a mother helped... Grin

Washing your hair every day is actually bad for your hair AND why you feel like your have to wash it everyday. The more frequently you wash it, the more frequently you need to wash it.

You need to sort your hair out if you have to wash it everyday. Start cutting down on washes, you might have a day or two of it being a bit greasy but it will adapt.

Some of you are incredibly efficient! I don't have to anything to get my kids ready and it still takes me a close to an hour. Get up, make coffee and breakfast, read -the news- facebook while eating breakfast, wash up, make bed, straighten up the living room, shower and brush teeth, brush hair but it dries en route to work, get dressed, makeup if I have time, put handbag together... Clearly deluded about how low maintenance I am! Grin
DH is up and out the door in 15 minutes but he showers at night and buys coffee / breakfast on the way or goes without.

I can do it comfortably in 15 mins with porridge and a shower, not a hair wash, I only wash my hair every fourth day.

Little make up, tinted moisturiser, vaseline on my lashes and lipgloss.

On the way to work, not on the way to the shower. We don't live in a Starbucks.

I can get myself up and out in 10 minutes, I wash my hair at night and generally wear it in a bun or a plait (bum length and I work with kids) so rarely bother straightening it. I don't wear any make up.

Getting the kids dressed and out the door however can take an hour or more.

I've slowed down. It used to take me 25 minutes, including eating breakfast and drinking tea, but now it's more like 35-40 minutes. No make-up though.

It takes me about 10 minutes.

I get up go to the bathroom have a wash(I have a bath at night)brush my teeth, cleanse, tone and moisturise my skin, deodrant and perfume on,underwear on then clothes,make-up and then my hair(I'm very lucky with my hair though)I have it tied up at night(so I don't smother my poor DH with it) Grin I take it out of the hair band, give it a shake(it's naturally wavy)and brush my fringe.

It used to take me ages to get ready,I think I just got alot quicker once I had children and as our family as grown(we have 5DC)I've got faster at getting ready.
