That transcript of the gaggle is very interesting.
I think it's clear from Spicer's words that Trump didn't want anyone else on screen that day to steal his thunder "The President spoke today. As you know, we don’t generally do we haven’t done briefings when the President has had a major event or an event with a world leader." and "And I think obviously the President gave a very powerful speech today, and our job is to make sure that we're responsive to folks in the media. We're here all day. We've got a big staff. And we want to make sure we answer your questions. We don’t need to do everything on camera every day. I think the President did a good job of making sure that -- today at CPAC, on camera, for a long time. And I wanted to make sure that the President's message carried."
Well that backfired!
I must admit, I thought once the hoo haa of the inaguration was over, things would settle down and he would just bumble along quietly until someone called him out for not delivering on his promises. Instead, we've had daily scandals, lurching from one thing to the next - Trump is driving this, with the timing of his executive orders and his tweeting. He is doing a very good job of keeping himself front and center of the news - it might not be the way he planned it, with far more negativity than I think even he expected, but he is driving this thing.
Sadly, the BBC won't boycott or ignore him - it's big news whichever side you're on. The State visit will be covered, but I expect it will focus on the massive protests that are bound to happen. And I'm holding out for Prince Charles to pull a blinder and insult him - THAT would be fabulous.
