This (red) state after (red) state voting in laws that are aimed at tamping down protests is really, really troubling. I'm sure most, if not all, of them will be overturned as unconstitutional upon appeal, but the 'mindset' behind them is frightening.

There have been a couple of them proposed (but I think didn't pass) that basically said if anyone is protesting on 'your property', you cannot be sued if you run over them to leave your property. Presented, of course, as being 'necessary to prevent liability' but in reality a way to frighten off protesters.

No mandate to get insurance means loads just won't as they can't afford it.

Tax credit based on person's age, rather than income, means a younger person struggling financially will not benefit as much as an older person that is financially more secure. (kind of the opposite of what it was supposed to be created for)

As it says in the article, today's focus is all on nuclear weapons but imagine the devastation if chemical warfare starred to be used wider. The fact that Russia still has stocks of this VX toxin is worrying, to say the least.
