The travel ban impact on the tourism industry is only just kicking in. Come high season & you'll really start to see the impact on a serious level. How many schools are changing plans re school trips to the US as a result of this? The school in Canada has ruled trips to US out. The risk of having a member of staff blocked from traveling is serious - the Welsh teacher left in Iceland has had no information or reason given for being blocked from traveling with his school/pupils so no one can even mitigate with a solid list of exclusions to ensure entry. The uncertainty when you need set numbers for adult/pupil ratio is a huge risk from the POV of planning these things/risk assessments etc.

As an individual who would normally love to holiday in the US if I had the funds? No way am I going to take the risk of booking & paying for a trip that might include allowing DHS access to my phone and/or social media a/c's! It's a huge financial expense to holiday in the US & I won't take that risk as I can't afford to waste my money or limited annual leave.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who feels like that. That's not even scratching the surface of the political arguments & not wanting to holiday in a country that would make bigotry official policy.

I think the sheer level of upheaval & intrusion & inconvenience from the ban is a massive factor for anyone considering a holiday.

He's disassembling. Now he says he's not against the media or the press. Just the FAKE NEWS.

What an utter twat. He doesn't want them to be able to print stories unless they name their source.

GingerIvy · 24/02/2017 15:31

He is STILL banging on that they should not be able to print a story unless the sources are all named. you know, to prove they didn't make it up.

And he is complaining about the FAKE POLLS.

clothespeggy · 24/02/2017 15:32

He doesn't appear to like sources. His definition of source seems to be "anonymous source".

Now he doesn't like polls either.

Lweji · 24/02/2017 15:32

Apparently, an attack on one group of tourists is regarded as an assault on all.

Because it's also the attitudes towards foreigners, who could be dangerous illegal immigrants.

clothespeggy · 24/02/2017 15:33

He is the world's worst winner.

amispartacus · 24/02/2017 15:34

I wonder what he thinks about Watergate?

Lweji · 24/02/2017 15:34

"They didn't think we'd win...."

it's not wrong. But "they" like even less what he's doing. The win, his opponents can get over it.

GingerIvy · 24/02/2017 15:35

If you have high BP, this is NOT the speech to watch. He's dissing CNN now - saying they should fire the pollster. "Maybe they're just bad at polling or maybe they're not legit."

All the news medias are bad - their polls are bad. (except Fox - who just had a VERY bad poll on him, but he's not mentioned that hahahahahaa)

He says "we can't criticise their stories because of the First Amendment" (saying it in a snotty voice). Says media has their own agenda - not for the people or the country. They have an obligation to report honestly, but FAKE NEWS doesn't tell the truth."

"The media doesn't represent the people, never will represent the people, and we need to do something about it." Then more blather about his big win.

GingerIvy · 24/02/2017 15:36

Has anyone EVER seen a speech where he actually laid out a sane, logical, workable policy?

OH FFS - this place is packed - lines go back 6 blocks - they won't report that of course.

Lweji · 24/02/2017 15:36

Trump speaking:
He is right that his victory was a win like no one has seen before.
He won while also losing. Nobody had won with such a loss before. Grin

GingerIvy · 24/02/2017 15:37

"The likes of which the world has never seen before. There's never been anything like this. "

Now he's trashing Bernie.

GingerIvy · 24/02/2017 15:38

Back to "America first..."

cozietoesie · 24/02/2017 15:38

He's doing enough to satisfy himself but he hasn't 'got them' in the way Regan had.

Good point. He's really lowered our expectations hasn't he?

Hang on, I need to stand up for my flag.

GingerIvy · 24/02/2017 15:39

"Oh, we're building the wall, don't worry about it. It's gonna start soon, WAAAY ahead of schedule...." (repeats about a million times)

"And remember,we are getting the bad ones out - the bad dudes."

Lweji · 24/02/2017 15:39

It's funny that he thinks there have never been movements like his before.

Never mind the movement for independence of the US, never mind the movement for the republic in France, or the communist movement in Russia, or China.
All dwarf by comparison. Grin

The wall is ahead of schedule? What do we not know?

GingerIvy · 24/02/2017 15:40

"I inherited a mess"
"Failed healthcare - total catastrophe"

Think I have bingo.....

GingerIvy · 24/02/2017 15:41

Lweji It's almost done - it's invisible, you know.Grin

Lweji · 24/02/2017 15:41

Infrastructure in total disrepair. Yes, the US looks like Beirut during the war.

This is Times square now.

We're only showing Ami the good news now to keep her sweet. It's another Trump thread!
GingerIvy · 24/02/2017 15:42

Now he's rattling off his propaganda about ACA/Obamacare. I cannot believe there is still an auditorium full of people that are stupid enough to believe him. Sorry - that's not nice, but there you are.

GingerIvy · 24/02/2017 15:43

"We don't win anymore - did we win a war? Did we win ANYTHING??"

FFS. These people are either drunk or very stupid.

GingerIvy · 24/02/2017 15:44

I can't listen anymore. It makes me nauseated.

Lweji · 24/02/2017 15:44

Darling, this is the time to say HOW you're going to make health care less expensive. Not that you'll do it.

Oh, and where the money is coming from.

Disaster.

He's right that the national debt is bigger, though. Not sure what he's going to do about it. His plans can only lead to it getting even bigger.
