It's more than 'odd', Bigly. It's a little disturbing.

Oh so the wee girl who sang at the inauguration of the presudent has a transgender sister and isn't happy now about the removal of federal protection for transgender students.

I wonder how many more will start to see the reality of Trump?

Destinysdaughter · 24/02/2017 14:06

Apparently Caitlyn Jenner isn't too happy either. Can't believe these pp supported him!

ironic he is worrying about FBI leaks when he discussed state secrets in the public dining room at Mar-a-largo. Glad intel community pushing his buttons

I wonder how many more will start to see the reality of Trump?

His hardcore base never will. Remember his statement about 'I could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and not lose any popularity'? That is exactly who he's talking about, and he was, and is, 100% right. Remember, Hitler conducted mass genocide and his hardcore fans never wavered in their devotion.

I think many more moderate Conservative-leaning people are already seeing it, but whether or not they'll act on it in the mid-terms remains to be seen. One of our friends voted for Trump strictly on the 2nd Amendment. He actually disagreed with Trump on many very important issues and agreed with Hillary on those same issues, but the 2nd Amendment overrode it all. He's beginning to wonder what the hell damage his Trump vote will end up costing this country, and his family financially. But will his feelings of disquiet translate into a vote for a Democratic Senator or Representative in 2018? So far, probably not.

And simply seeing the reality isn't going to help us for the next two years. Trump doesn't truly care about 'popularity', not when it is up against his personal interest. Yes, it sounds as if he can't handle not being admired, but in the end he'll gladly sacrifice that for personal gain. He's very much like a child: "Be my best friend, be my best friend!!! No? Well, I don't like you anyway, who wants to be your friend!!!!"

And just being unpopular won't get him out of office. He'll have to commit an impeachable offense. Certainly Nixon's approval ratings were in the toilet, but he didn't resign because of that, he resigned because he knew he was about to be indicted.

cozietoesie · 24/02/2017 14:41

Nixon's ratings ended up in the toilet, Across, but they were pretty OK in late 72/early 73 - hence the big victory in 72. (They hadn't found out about him at that point.)

I take your points though.

cozietoesie · 24/02/2017 14:47

Out of interest. How does your friend feel about the corruption that is becoming apparent?

GingerIvy · 24/02/2017 14:54

So... is Trump going to Maralago again this weekend??

GingerIvy · 24/02/2017 14:55

I'd be willing to bet it offers phones that are not secure and ways he can contact people he couldn't at the WH.

cozietoesie · 24/02/2017 14:56

I would assume so, Ginger. Wink

  1. THREAD. On the power structure of Team Trump. Bannon pulled back the curtain today. Here's what we learned... It's not comforting. (1/17)
  1. Steve Bannon is the brains behind it all. He sees himself as a political/social philosopher with a radical vision to remake America.
  1. Donald Trump is the front man who keeps his true believers riled up so he and Bannon can use them as leverage to wield more power.

  2. Reince Priebus is the manager, an operator with limited autonomy whose job is to keep the White House functioning. And he's frustrated.

  3. Kellyanne Conway and the Trump family are Trump's anchors in the chaos. But Conway is expendable despite her loyalty. And she knows it.

  4. The military guys (Mattis, Kelly, McMaster, etc.) are busy trying to preserve their reputations by disagreeing with Trump when possible.
    14 replies 385 retweets 792 likes

  5. Stephen Miller is Bannon's eager lieutenant, but his influence goes only as far as Bannon allows. Too young, too self-important.

  1. Sean Spicer is a flack, a traditional GOP operative whose days are numbered if you believe Beltway chatter. Not a vision guy.
  1. Per Bannon, cabinet chiefs are figureheads for a devious & destructive strategy: Put people in charge who will gut their own departments.

  2. Pence is POTUS-in-waiting, conducting a shadow campaign for the presidency, positioning himself to take over if/when scandal erupts.

  3. Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and other GOP leaders are playing a dangerous game of chicken, betting they can contain (and use) Trump.

  4. There are a few other lawyers, officials, friends, etc. who are loyal, but none have real power. Bannon overrides them if he wants.

  5. Any of these people could be leaking the inner workings of the White House. Palace intrigue is thick. Unpredictability rules.

  6. The main checks on Bannon/Trump are: The judiciary, the intel community, the people. Democratic leaders are left twisting in the wind.

  7. The media squandered their credibility during the election, helping to elect Trump by vilifying Hillary. Their impact is curtailed.

  8. So here we are. Anything can happen, from trudging along as we have been, to a dramatic crackdown on free speech and a major war.

  9. The best course of action for those who oppose this extreme agenda is to speak out, peacefully protest, donate to orgs, call reps...

Interesting

www.frommers.com/tips/miscellaneous/the-travel-press-is-reporting-the-trump-slump-a-devastating-drop-in-tourism-to-the-united-states#.WK-P_kKtNv2.twitter

Thus, the prestigious Travel Weekly magazine (as close to an “official” travel publication as they come) has set the decline in foreign tourism at 6.8%. And the fall-off is not limited to Muslim travelers, but also extends to all incoming foreign tourists. Apparently, an attack on one group of tourists is regarded as an assault on all.

As far as travel by distinct religious groups, flight passengers from the seven Muslim-majority nations named by Trump were down by 80% in the last week of January and first week of February, according to Forward Keys, a well-known firm of travel statisticians. On the web, flight searches for trips heading to the U.S. out of all international locations was recently down by 17%.

A drop of that magnitude, if continued, would reduce the value of foreign travel within the U.S. by billions of dollars. And the number of jobs supported by foreign tourists and their expenditures in the United States—and thus lost—would easily exceed hundreds of thousands of workers in hotels, restaurants, transportation, stores, tour operations, travel agencies, and the like.

cozietoesie · 24/02/2017 15:11

Thanks, Ginger and ami. Understandable.

God, I hope his "Never underestimate the people.." bites him in the ass.

"We're fighting the FAKE NEWS - they are the enemy of the people. they have no sources." He is saying the media is LYING about the sources.
