Love Randy Rainbow.
Does DT hate Chicago because it is Obama's home town? He talks as if he wants to nuke it off the map, as if it has personally offended him.

titsmcgee22 · 24/02/2017 01:03

There's a lot of replies to his tweet....calling him out and telling him to stop tweeting and get some work done.

peaceout · 24/02/2017 01:07

trying to keep up
wondering where it's all going
I heard him on the radio mumbledrawling about nuclear weapons, sounding like some old maffia boss whose been consigned to an old folks home

I so hope he has Alzheimers

AcrossthePond55 · 24/02/2017 01:09

I admit I haven't been to Chicago for years and years, but it's really a great town. Like all towns it has its 'less safe' areas, but by and large it's a vibrant, busy big city.

Great hot dogs! And White Castle burgers!!!

SenecaFalls · 24/02/2017 01:36

It's Hillary's home town too.

I lived in Chicago for a short time a few years back and have been back several times since. My son-in-law is from there and he and my daughter lived there until recently. It's a great city. It has some serious problems but so do most large (and smaller for that matter) US cities.

As in this: www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/trump-always-calls-out-chicago-city-closest-mar-lago-has-n722056

SenecaFalls · 24/02/2017 01:38

Oh, yes, and the food. Right now I'm craving a Chicago dog.

AcrossthePond55 · 24/02/2017 02:08

I had family in Palatine and Mundelein.

The people of Chicago were all just so friendly when I was there, and eager to 'show off' their city.

My son and DiL are doing a 'thing' where each year for their anniversary they pick a random US city to spend a four day weekend in. They've done New York and Portland. This year is Chicago and I've been loading them down with stuff to do. I was so disappointed to learn that Marshall Field's is no longer in business, but I guess that shows how long it's been since I've been there! I wonder if DB Kaplan's is still there.

JWIM · 24/02/2017 02:48

Interjecting a little Chicago tourist information having visited twice in the last couple of years. It seemed a great city to us but accepting it has some challenging areas like most cities. Across I can offer The Kitchen - a restaurant on the riverside and the Architecture Tour on the river is fab.

AcrossthePond55 · 24/02/2017 03:45

Thanks, JWIM. I'll pass those on to my son!

So, DH told me that there is a case headed to the Supreme Court regarding the legitimacy of the Trump presidency:

occupydemocrats.com/2017/02/23/supreme-court-just-advanced-law-suit-nullify-2016-election/

It will fail, of course, but this is really unprecedented.

CussingQuim · 24/02/2017 06:47

Ah good, morning, what did I miss? Any chance it was all a dream? Oh no, no it wasn't...

This from a feed of mine this morning...

"WHITE HOUSE INTERFERES IN INVESTIGATIONS INTO RUSSIA TIES

CNN, 8 hours ago
The FBI rejected a recent White House request to publicly knock down media reports about communications between Donald Trump’s associates and Russians known to US intelligence during the 2016 presidential campaign, multiple US officials briefed on the matter tell CNN.

White House officials had sought the help of the bureau and other agencies investigating the Russia matter to say that the reports were wrong and that there had been no contacts, the officials said. The reports of the contacts were first published by The New York Times and CNN on February 14.

The direct communications between the White House and the FBI were unusual because of decade-old restrictions on such contacts. Such a request from the White House is a violation of procedures that limit communications with the FBI on pending investigations"

AND

"TRUMP TRANSITION DONORS LINKED TO CABINET

CNN, 11 hours ago
President Donald Trump’s transition efforts raised more than $6.5 million, according to government filings, with the vast majority of the donations coming after the election — including thousands of dollars from people linked to his future Cabinet. […]

Trump Cabinet nominees or their families were consistent donors"

How can he get away with this shit?

So the WH is trying to influence the FBI's investigations and most of the cabinet bought their positions... you couldn't make it up could you...

About Bannon and his dynamic with Priebus.

Behind the mask of death, still not a pretty sight.

President Trump's doing pretty much what he said he'd do.
The time to be outraged & stop him if you didn't agree was November 8.

Looks like Morgan is one of those people who thinks people should shut up between elections and not raise concerns.

CussingQuim · 24/02/2017 08:26

A particularly choice WTF quote from that article Lweji...

"For Bannon, now safely inside the West Wing, that means still seeing the world through the lens of the Breitbart website that shocked the media conscience with so much alt-right trash. At one point on Thursday, Bannon even used the phrase “we at Breitbart”, as if there were no real difference between his old job in digital far-right media and his new job as a presidential adviser."

Roussette · 24/02/2017 08:34

I found the article and accompanying footage really quite chilling. So much divide, so much them and us.

Lweji · 24/02/2017 08:39

Yes...

When men tell you who they are, listen...

Meanwhile, Trump thinks having less 200 nukes than Russia is BAD and that the US has to increase their arsenal. From 6800!

It won't bloody matter, FFS.
Just to cause a little bit more destruction than their enemies. Which may or may not be Russia.

And he's hinting at a defense system against North Korean missis. Me thinks he should ask the Pentagon first about this stuff.
Ahem: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_national_missile_defense

At least I hope he knows what the nuclear triad is by now.

Found you at last! Just placemarking so I can catch up on what has been happening.

squishysquirmy · 24/02/2017 09:12

Thanks for all the info across these threads.
On the last one there was a discussion about how hard it can be to talk to family members about this stuff sometimes, when they have been taken in by some of the pro-Trump alt-right nonsense.
It got me thinking, and I realised that these threads (and the Brexit ones too) have been massively useful for this. They've kept me informed enough to calmly counter the nonsense with facts, where as usually I'm the sort of person to splutter a bit and think of something great to say a few hours later. I find a lot of the time these people have nothing to back up what they're saying - it's often some random argument they've seen on a facebook meme.
So, thanks for these threads.

The girl who sang at his inauguration has a trans sister and is apparently rather upset right now. It is good to see the penny finally drop for LGBT people who supported him, though how they didn't see this coming I will never know.

I'm following Morgan, Rowling, Bonnie Greer and Susanna Reid on Twitter.
Fascinating at the moment.

Lweji · 24/02/2017 10:25

It's a Portuguese joke, so no link.

Under the heading Fake News: Trump calls the French President to warn him of the Normandy landings after watching a report about it on TV.

It's clearly fake news, as he'd never watch anything history related.

BiglyBadgers · 24/02/2017 10:25

In good news I am relieved to see that UKIP didn't get anywhere in the Stoke and Copeland be-elections. Labour lost Copeland to the Conservatives but while I am disappointed that the conservatives had a win I can't say I am at all surprised.
