Crisp sandwich - normal, right?

itwillbegrandsure · 23/02/2017 14:26

I LOVE a crisp sandwich. Especially with salt n vinegar crisps. Was thinking I'd love one earlier (but no crisps in the house) and then remembered a friend thinking I was totally bonkers for having crisps in a sandwich.

Anyone else? Or is my friend right and I'm totally bonkers...?!

On that note, any other 'out of the norm' sandwich fillings you all in enjoy?

I can't do crisp sarnies, don't understand why, but no no and thrice no....then again I can't do chips and gravy but love roast potatoes and gravy which is same?! 😕

Crisp sandwiches are the greatest invention of all time. No argument.
My personal fave is cream cheese with prawn cocktail crisps, but I appreciate it's a very personal thing. But if I have a sandwich and crisps at the same time, the latter will generally end up inside the former.

I once worked for a meedjah company in London staffed largely by bright young things, two of which I remember being mortified seeing me put crisps in my sarnie one lunchtime.
So, obviously I had to do it EVERY day after that.

lbsjob87 · 24/02/2017 17:38

cats EXACTLY that.

Craigie · 24/02/2017 17:41

Only weird in so far as I've never seen or heard of anyone eating a crisp SANDWICH, have only ever had a crisp ROLL on a very fresh, buttered morning roll.

venusinscorpio · 24/02/2017 17:47

Grin

Yes, I would have too.

iklboo · 24/02/2017 17:49

I love prawn cocktail or smokey bacon crisp butties on cheap white bread

Salt & vinegar on brown bread

Both with chunks of a nice sharp cheddar on the side.

trixymalixy · 24/02/2017 17:49

Fresh morning roll buttered with salted butter filled with pickled onion meanies. Mmmm

coffeeandbubbles · 24/02/2017 17:49

Peanut butter with wotsits. AH-mazing!

emmaw1405 · 24/02/2017 17:55

Is it a Northern thing? Salt and vinegar crisp sandwiches or with cheese is the best! I'm from up North - husband is a Southerner who thinks it's weird! Also love beetroot and cheese on thick sliced white bread.

Tech2016 · 24/02/2017 18:10

Cheese and Frazzle sandwich. Perfect comfort food ( heads off to the kitchen !)

geordiedench · 24/02/2017 18:11

Crisp sandwiches are gorgeous. Must be crusty white bread, soft inside and stuffed with cheese and onion crisps.

crispandcheesesandwichplease · 24/02/2017 18:12

I have found my people!

geordiedench · 24/02/2017 18:13

emmaw105 - could be. I'm from the north east. The local bakery used to sell them to us at lunchtime when I was at secondary school.

UnbornMortificado · 24/02/2017 18:14

Tuna and salt and vinegar crisps on cheap white bread with cheap marg.

I'm also from the NE.

Writermom22 · 24/02/2017 18:20

Mushy peas on toast.

Don't judge me. 😊

kookiecookie3 · 24/02/2017 18:25

Tuna and mayonnaise with salt and vinegar crisps! 😀😀😀 delicious

I have this argument with the DH every week! He thinks I'm weird

ChubbyMummy12 · 24/02/2017 18:26

Blackforestdonuts · 24/02/2017 18:26

iklboo · 24/02/2017 18:31

UnbornMortificado · 24/02/2017 18:36

Putting it on toast is just inspired.

Imaystillbedrunk · 24/02/2017 18:36

Is it a Northern thing? Essex Girl here, Cheese and Ham, nice white bread, butter, salt and vingar crisps. Food of the Gods

Stepmum123 · 24/02/2017 18:39

Wotsits between buttered sliced white bread... Heaven! I've just had dinner and am hungry again for a crisp sandwich, thank you OP!! 😁

WomanWithAltitude · 24/02/2017 18:42

Heavenly. My personal favourite is white bread (or a white roll), with mature cheddar and paprika flavour crisps. If no paprika can be found then cheese and onion is second best.

I also love a cheese, chip and crisp butty. Mmmmmm.....

ooohsopink · 24/02/2017 18:43

Not into crisp butties much but my two weird fillings:

White bread
Butter
Marmite
Cucumber
Mint leaves

Or

Any bread type
Cucumber
Peanut butter (crunchy if possible)
Sweet chilli sauce

I know. I'll get me coat.
Blush

WomanWithAltitude · 24/02/2017 18:43

Also, the bread / roll MUST be crusty. This is very important.
