Crisp sandwich - normal, right?

itwillbegrandsure · 23/02/2017 14:26

I LOVE a crisp sandwich. Especially with salt n vinegar crisps. Was thinking I'd love one earlier (but no crisps in the house) and then remembered a friend thinking I was totally bonkers for having crisps in a sandwich.

Anyone else? Or is my friend right and I'm totally bonkers...?!

On that note, any other 'out of the norm' sandwich fillings you all in enjoy?

White bread, sandwich spread and cheese and onion crisps, YUM! Straight back to my childhood! Smile

AYankinSpanx · 24/02/2017 19:14

There's barely anything on this thread I want to eat. Pink's peanut butter, sweet chilli and cucumber sounds the best.

I'm reading on thinking I might be converted, but it all sounds flipping 'orrible! Grin

Callaird · 24/02/2017 19:24

Tiger bread, cut on the bias, laughing cow cheese, at least 4 triangles, marmite and cheese and onion walkers salivates I'm eating healthily and now feel very sad!

hotmessmom82 · 24/02/2017 19:26

Oh I do love a crisp sandwich with cheese spread after a few glasses of wine 🙈 I may be partaking this evening actually 😋

Callaird · 24/02/2017 19:27

Not Northern, London born, Home Counties bred. Mums go to dinner is a cheese spread and bacon walkers sandwich, she's not so fussy about bread (weird seeing as my dad was a baker for 40 years!

itwillbegrandsure · 24/02/2017 19:28

I'm having a good ole chuckle reading these posts!

I'm Irish, so if the majority of you did end up admitting me to Bonkersville, I was totally prepared to putting my love of a crisp sandwich down to it being an Irish thing!

What a relief that it's not!

And some of the combinations sound delish! Though not sure I could face a pot noodle sandwich!

After all that, I still haven't had a crisp sandwich yet! But I did go out and buy a bag or 6 of crisps...

My DH used to love a Royster's T-bone steak crisp, corned beef and brown sauce combo sandwich. He can't get Royster's anymore so has to make so with Flame Grilled Steaj McCoys

VerbenaGirl · 24/02/2017 19:52

Love a crisp sandwich... for me it has to be ready salted with cucumber.

Jaagojaago · 24/02/2017 20:13

Crisps in sandwiches?

I had literally no idea this was a thing.

inappropriateraspberry · 24/02/2017 20:14

I've never had a straight up crisp sarnie, but love adding them into my usual fillings. I make a normal sandwich then once sat down to eat, I'll slip in a few crisps here and there! Lovely!

Elvisrocks · 24/02/2017 20:18

Adding frazzles to a sandwich is delicious - tastes better than bacon

inappropriateraspberry · 24/02/2017 20:21

Elvis I love a frazzle, I'm a veggie, but love them! Don't like real bacon, but that synthetic taste is amazing!

wineandtoastfortea · 24/02/2017 20:52

Crisp and salad cream on white bread...perfect. Also love Wotsit and primula.

bluebellsparklypants · 24/02/2017 20:57

So with you op,
for me butter, crisps and then squish them together so the crisps all crunch and break up, heaven
My mum used to grate cheese for me which I rolled in to little balls and put them 'in' skips (crisps)
Also love roasted peanuts, grated cheese and salad cream in a toasted sandwich (also yum on crackers)

FuckingSausageFingers · 24/02/2017 20:57

Totally normal and delicious. Cheese and onion crisps. No cheese. Plenty of butter.

DH on the other hand: never had one. Weirdo.

kennycat · 24/02/2017 20:59

Food of the gods-yes
Any sandwich improved immeasurably by crisps- yes

I must state that it has to be FOLDED crisp sandwich therefore not an actual meal or snack so it counts as calorie free. And the crisps have less chance of falling out.

Just off to scout out some crisps, bread and something else, maybe pickle or brown sauce to scoff right now.

FuckingSausageFingers · 24/02/2017 20:59

wineandtoastfortea OMG I forgot about cheese spread + wotsits. No frills cheese spread for me though. Primula's a bit posh!

2bluestars · 24/02/2017 20:59

Had crisps in my sandwich at lunch, nom.

If its a crisp only sandwich, it's got to be with salad cream Grin

GlobalTechIndustries · 24/02/2017 20:59

I must admit I do like a crisp sandwich with mc coys crisps.

Jangles1970 · 24/02/2017 21:00

White bread, cheddar cheese and salt and vinegar crisps, literally, could live on that....and just for a change, chips and cheese sarnie!!! Why is the unhealthy stuff soooo f**king scrumptious???

Almostrubbish · 24/02/2017 21:20

Love crisp sandwiches but haven't had one since I was little.

Syrup on cheese on toast yum.

Does anyone still eat chip butties? Not had one in forever with losses of salt n vinegar

mygorgeousmilo · 24/02/2017 21:30

I will and do make a sandwich with anything! Crisps are just your gateway filling leading into more addictive fillings. Try spaghetti bolognese in a sandwich. Must have half a slab of real butter on it, and you'll have to fold the bread instead of cutting in half. A soup sandwich, only works with chunky soup - spoon out the chunks, put them in a folded in half slice of bread, you'll Thank me later. Chip buttie, obvs. Fish finger sandwich, Obvs. Oh, oh! Stew in a sandwich! Made this the other day, again you scoop out the chunks of veg/meat and, crucially, a dumpling. Fluffy white bread with butter. Salivating just thinking about it.

user1483021490 · 24/02/2017 21:42

Peanut butter and marmite is my favourite combo....

kennycat · 24/02/2017 21:51

mygorgeousmilo I agree, if it can't be put in a sandwich do not trust it.

I call myself the earl of sandwich at home because a blimmin love love love a sandwich of any kind. Even a crap one.

As many fillings in one sandwich is my favourite obv, lots of salad, cheese, ham condiments etc. And crisps obv.

gillys · 24/02/2017 22:14
