to think I'm not 'bonkers' for thinking I might be pregnant with twins?

This is my fourth pregnancy. With the first three I didn't truly believe I was pregnant until the scan as I didn't feel any symptoms at all. This time I tested early and a clearly visible line appeared within thirty seconds. I felt 'heavy' in my stomach within a week, totally went off food, feel completely sick and can't eat after 2pm, apologies for TMI but I have lots of discharge, a really dry mouth, I've gone up a dress size and look the same as I did at 4 months pregnant during my last pregnancy.

I've seen people looking but they've been too polite to ask. I've had lots of cramping and have been so tired I've had to pull over after driving for just ten minutes. All this and I'm only 9 weeks. I mentioned to my sister today that I'm worried it could be twins and she said I was bonkers and over dramatic and that it's just because I'm older than my last pregnancy and because all pregnancies are different. I agree the latter could well be the case but I was only last pregnant two years ago. I feel so very different and think twins could be the reason. AIBU to suspect it or am I being a drama queen?

How did you get on jessiefish?

ChrisYoungFuckingRocks · 24/02/2017 17:54

I was in so much pain, very bad constipation, absolutely exhausted, and I couldn't get my jeans up by 6 weeks! I was in so much pain actually, that I had my first scan at 6 weeks, and yes, it was twins. I was 36.

But then I've always known I was going to have twins. It was just something I always knew, even though there is no history of twins.

emmaw1405 · 24/02/2017 17:59

I've got two sets of twins. First set I had a feeling from 9 weeks it was twins - really sick and really tired.

Second set - no sickess, no tiredness - nothing. No clue until they did the scan and the first set were only 1!

I'd already got three girls - we thought the fourth might be a boy as symptoms were different this time. Nope - it turned out to be daughters number 4 and 5!

Hope all is well OP.

Congratulations! Without wanting to sound negative, maybe get tested for gestational diabetes if you aren't tested automatically (I was because of age and weight at that time!!). I had a couple of the symptoms that you mention (especially a hideously dry mouth) xx

EweAreHere · 24/02/2017 18:05

Congrats! Hope your scan went well. x

I felt very nauseous from early on and very sore books with my fifth pregnancy and the scan showed two sacs (a twin pregnancy). Exact opposite symptoms to my previous pregnancies (all healthy single boys!)

Congratulations with whatever you're having! X

Hope the scan has gone well Flowers

Storminateapot · 24/02/2017 18:24

It is possible - my second pregnancy was twins and showed that early. In fact, it was so 'different' from my first that I convinced myself I was going to be told something was wrong at my dating scan, not that there were two people in there!

Hope it went well today jessie x

I thought I was having twins with DS2 - I was so ill - had an early scan but it was only one. Having been terrified I was immediately disappointed Blush

ridingsixwhitehorses · 24/02/2017 18:37

My kids are same ages as yours and thought of having four let alone five terrifies me.
Good luck

NewPuppyMum · 24/02/2017 18:49

I was pregnant with twins and lost one. I had gone in for an early scan due to previous problems and saw two. Thoughtless casual sonographer and then at my next appointment, when I'd lost one, a midwife said, oh you're the twin lady aren't you. Devastating. Really difficult pregnancy and labour both nearly died but that wasn't due to the twin pregnancy and DS has had some issues but he's here.

I really hope all goes well for you.

I know of a family who had two sets of twins. When she conceived again she got insurance against a third set. Insurance paid out enough for them to clear their mortgage. Six kids under ten!

I think everyone has that slight feeling, just like loads of people have a feeling they'll "go early" and end up overdue.

Hope things are okay though OP. Flowers
