to think I'm not 'bonkers' for thinking I might be pregnant with twins?

This is my fourth pregnancy. With the first three I didn't truly believe I was pregnant until the scan as I didn't feel any symptoms at all. This time I tested early and a clearly visible line appeared within thirty seconds. I felt 'heavy' in my stomach within a week, totally went off food, feel completely sick and can't eat after 2pm, apologies for TMI but I have lots of discharge, a really dry mouth, I've gone up a dress size and look the same as I did at 4 months pregnant during my last pregnancy.

I've seen people looking but they've been too polite to ask. I've had lots of cramping and have been so tired I've had to pull over after driving for just ten minutes. All this and I'm only 9 weeks. I mentioned to my sister today that I'm worried it could be twins and she said I was bonkers and over dramatic and that it's just because I'm older than my last pregnancy and because all pregnancies are different. I agree the latter could well be the case but I was only last pregnant two years ago. I feel so very different and think twins could be the reason. AIBU to suspect it or am I being a drama queen?

Second pregnancy, I tested extremely early as felt so ill and tired. Line was very strong and turned out to be twins, however we lost one early on.

All of this is anecdotal really though as pp said some people have this experience some don't!

Good luck whichever way it goes!

Another shameless place mark

TheLegendOfBeans · 23/02/2017 12:58

The increased risks associated with twin pregnancy and birth worry me more than the reality of having twins

This. This soooooo much. I'd freak if this pregnancy turns out to be twins as I'm already on pins as it is. So many people tend not to take on board carrying twins is a big scary thing...my anxiety would shoot through the roof!

All the best OP and I hope you get the answer you are looking for although my gut says it's a singleton 👍

*dorothy, neon, mine said the same. I had a pregnancy test saying 3 weeks pregnant just before my period was due, got big very quickly, really, really tired. I don't really get sick fortunately so wasn't a problem. Consultant also confirmed that's twins, all symptoms magnified.

I was convinced I was pregnant with twins in my third pregnancy. I ve experienced everything you ve described. The first two were so easy that like you I didn't feel pregnant at all. Turned out it was a girl. Which we were very happy about after two boys.

Good luck op

babyblabber · 23/02/2017 13:06

I just had DC4. This was my 6th pregnancy as I've had two miscarriages. Like you, I was convinced it was twins at the start. I had morning sickness for the first time, a bump from very early in etc. I was freaking out and paid for two early scans and still didn't relax til after my consultant scanned me at 11 weeks (which is when my friend found out she was having twins even though she'd had early scans too!). Twins run in my family too and two of my cousins had twins a couple of years ago.

It could be but it could just as easily not be. Only one way to find out!

TeenyfTroon · 23/02/2017 13:11

Twins are awesome. Would have been easier at 29 than 39 though!
Good luck, whatever. Flowers

terrylene · 23/02/2017 13:16

Another one place marking.

It certainly chimes with me. I had all that you say, and terrible 'wind' from 8 weeks Grin. I had a works 'do' at 12 weeks and struggled to find anything to cover my bump. I got progressively more tired and struggled to stay awake or move much by the end.

Good luck with the scan whichever way it goes and take care of yourself.

They are hard work when little, but your experience will help you there. They are gorgeous as babies, wonderful growing up, but an absolute PIA at 22*)

How exciting OP! You never do know. Instinct can be a powerful thing. Flowers whatever the result of the scan, it sounds like your baby/ies will be very well loved Smile

jessiefish · 23/02/2017 13:56

Thanks everyone. The thought of twins both excites and terrifies me! I'm so impatient to know now. The clear blue tests only go up to 6 weeks + don't they? So it's too late to do one to see how far it says I am?

OOh maybe! You'll have to let us all know now :)

TheWinterOfOurDiscountTents · 23/02/2017 14:24

I don't know whether winter meant to say that she hadn't had a twin pregnancy or whether she had twins and lost them. It's not clear

It really couldn't have been clearer. [hmm...^I had babies before my twin pregnancy. I don't have twins.

jessiefish · 23/02/2017 14:33

I have the wind, bubbly and churning tummy too terry. If it is twins we're going to try and keep it as a surprise from everyone else until the birth I think Smile

Exciting stuff! Hope all goes well on Monday...

MerryMarigold · 23/02/2017 14:47

I suspected twins, was told triplets at first scan (17 weeks), but it turned out to be 'just' twins (scan was wrong). All your symptoms are similar to mine.

MerryMarigold · 23/02/2017 14:49

Good luck! I looked like 40weeks at 24 weeks. Tbh, the growth of my belly slowed somewhat (didn't grow so rapidly from maybe 30 weeks) as there just wasn't anywhere for it to go, but I looked like a torpedo. At the end I couldn't even drive.

jessiefish · 23/02/2017 14:57

We don't see family much Merry so should be able to keep it under our hat. Can't even imagine triplets!

Blatant place marking Grin

aibu1983 · 23/02/2017 15:49

MrsMozart · 23/02/2017 16:29

Just realised I missed off the important bit!

Congratulations, whether it be one or two Flowers
