to think I'm not 'bonkers' for thinking I might be pregnant with twins?

This is my fourth pregnancy. With the first three I didn't truly believe I was pregnant until the scan as I didn't feel any symptoms at all. This time I tested early and a clearly visible line appeared within thirty seconds. I felt 'heavy' in my stomach within a week, totally went off food, feel completely sick and can't eat after 2pm, apologies for TMI but I have lots of discharge, a really dry mouth, I've gone up a dress size and look the same as I did at 4 months pregnant during my last pregnancy.

I've seen people looking but they've been too polite to ask. I've had lots of cramping and have been so tired I've had to pull over after driving for just ten minutes. All this and I'm only 9 weeks. I mentioned to my sister today that I'm worried it could be twins and she said I was bonkers and over dramatic and that it's just because I'm older than my last pregnancy and because all pregnancies are different. I agree the latter could well be the case but I was only last pregnant two years ago. I feel so very different and think twins could be the reason. AIBU to suspect it or am I being a drama queen?

It could be triplets lol

MrsBernardBlack · 23/02/2017 09:15

I don't think you're bonkers at all. My aunt's fourth pregnancy was twins. Soon you will know.
Congratulations, I hope all goes well.

jessiefish · 23/02/2017 10:29

The other three are 7, 5 and 20 months and all weighed within 2oz of each other at 6lbs something so weren't big and my partner is the same so it'd be strange if this was suddenly a big one.

I'm sure the odds are low and it's just one but it's bizarre how different I feel.

None of the symptoms you list in the OP is indicator of twins, and there is no way "instinct" or gut feelings can tell either. Sure it might be twins, but so could any early pregnancy.

BillSykesDog · 23/02/2017 10:35

Have you had twins winter?

TheWinterOfOurDiscountTents · 23/02/2017 10:38

I have had a twin pregnancy. I don't think thats necessary though to know that a heavy feeling a week after a positive test is not an indicator of twins, and neither is feeling sick!

Gingerbreadmam · 23/02/2017 10:39

ooh congratulations. placemark Smile

I agree. I didn't feel any different when I was pregnant with twins - biggest shock of my life Shock

Good luck OP, whether it's 1 or 2 or more Grin

Feeling extra sick and tired can be a sign, it can also be a sign of other things. I have twins and the OPs post really chimed with my experience. No guarantees there, but a possibility...

AgathaMystery · 23/02/2017 10:47

Same as grapefruit I knew immediately it was twins and I hadn't even done a +ve test. Very odd. Like grapefruit I miscarried one which isn't unusual. It's a strange loss.

TheWinterOfOurDiscountTents · 23/02/2017 10:48

Not really, because its normal to be much sicker or tired in one pregnancy than another anyway, so its not a sign of anything.

LagunaBubbles · 23/02/2017 10:49

Congratulations!

jessiefish · 23/02/2017 11:21

But then it also can be winter so a bit of a pointless post really Hmm

Oh, you should have said that only "yay hun you know best of course ur right #blessings" posts were allowed, I wouldn't have bothered.

Hmm
Okite · 23/02/2017 11:44

it'd be strange if this was suddenly a big one.
Imagine my surprise when my third baby popped out, she was 2 full pounds heavier than her two siblings who were both normal weight 7lb-ers.
Came out of nowhere! No rhyme or reason to it.
Basically, any of your symptoms could be...or they may not be.

Afreshstartplease · 23/02/2017 11:52

Congratulations op

Place marking to find out if your right!

Fwiw I didn't show with baby four til 4 months gone

BillSykesDog · 23/02/2017 11:55

winter, don't know if you had babies before your twins but in my own experience and anecdotally those of twin Mums of who I know a few through groups who'd already had at least one: the overwhelming consensus is that you feel much worse with twins. It can be a sign, equally it can be a sign of HG or age, but it did make me stop and wonder, and it was true. I think I was 7-8 weeks when I found out because a misscarriage was incorrectly suspected and I was scanned. And I had a feeling as the OP did and it was right.

BertieBotts · 23/02/2017 11:57

You could go and put a bet on. As an alternative to twin insurance.

TheWinterOfOurDiscountTents · 23/02/2017 12:10

I had babies before my twin pregnancy. I don't have twins.

neonrainbow · 23/02/2017 12:43

Actually a strong line on an early test can indicate twins due to higher levels of hormones due to two eggs implanting. According to my consultant anyway. Im not sure why winter is being so aggressive.

DorothyHarris · 23/02/2017 12:47

I had a sneaky suspicion before I had my scan but that was because I felt as though I was getting a bump earlier, I felt very very emotional as well much more so with my singleton pregnancy. It was twins but I still got a huge shock at the scan because I convinced myself it wasn't possible Grin oh how wrong I was.

DorothyHarris · 23/02/2017 12:49

neon my very experienced consultant said similar, morning sickness can be more severe etc etc.

BillSykesDog · 23/02/2017 12:50

I'm not sure neon, I don't know whether winter meant to say that she hadn't had a twin pregnancy or whether she had twins and lost them. It's not clear. Maybe if the latter brings up upsetting issues?

Aderyn2016 · 23/02/2017 12:51

Am shamelessly placemarking!
Best of luck for the scan.
