To think white chocolate isn't actually a flavour

White chocolate cheesecake. White chocolate mousse. Do these things actually taste of anything except bland sweetness? It's not a flavour! I don't see the point of it. AIBU?

They're sort of rich, sweet vanilla. I'm not a fan, but white chocolate does have its own flavour.

Well, it is a flavour. Admittedly, a pretty disgusting and cloying one, but that's how white chocolate tastes.

White chocolate doesn't qualify as genuine chocolate because it doesn't contain chocolate solids (a.k.a. cocoa powder). White chocolate is typically made from a blend of cocoa butter, milk solids, sugar, milk fat and lecithin — a fatty emulsifier that holds it all together.

ShatnersBassoon surely it only tastes of vanilla if it's got vanilla added to it? Which is obviously a big improvement because then it actually tastes of something

Hershey's chocolate actually does taste of vomit though. I'd still rather eat that than white chocolate.

I like white chocolate. But then I also like the taste of creme eggs and Cadbury chocolate and by MN standards that makes me pretty much a devil worshipper. To be fair, devil worship would probably be more acceptable.

White chocolate is vile. I'm a greedy bastard and will eat most things but white chocolate can sit in the cupboard well beyond its use by date as far as I'm concerned.

Agreed. Chocolate with the chocolate removed. Sweety fatness or fatty sweetness. Just pointless and disgusting.
