To think white chocolate isn't actually a flavour

White chocolate cheesecake. White chocolate mousse. Do these things actually taste of anything except bland sweetness? It's not a flavour! I don't see the point of it. AIBU?

Does anyone remember caramac.. I used to think that was chocolate

toffee1000 · 23/02/2017 00:31

I don't mind white chocolate bars, but I had white hot chocolate but it was nasty.

JP1985 · 23/02/2017 00:46

Anyone else really want chocolate now?! 🍫

73kittycat73 · 23/02/2017 01:58

I have a whole bag full of various white chocolate stashed in the kitchen that I got for Christmas. I love white chocolate. I am however on a diet! Angry

LadyB49 · 23/02/2017 02:52

No matter how desperate, couldn't touch it.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 23/02/2017 03:25

What do you mean by 'flavour'?

Any taste is a 'flavour' really.

Flavour itself is ambiguous and subjective.

If you read any ' What are you eating this week?' thread on here it will pretty much inform you that the majority of people have the palate of a navvy with a crack habit and don't understand what flavour, nuance and balance mean.

I hate white chocolate. It's just sweet.

I don't think it has a flavour unless fatty sweetness is a flavour!

Milky bar in the olden days was nice and had a flavour. Rank now as is all other white chocolate apparently.

Chartreuse45 · 23/02/2017 21:20

People say that Hershey bars taste of vomit and it.is apparently for a very good reason. The first bars were made with milk that was not quite fresh. The consumer got used to it and now they add the rancid taste. I read this on Quora which is normally reliable though it seems so bizarre I feel I must be having my leg pulled.

backtowork2015 · 23/02/2017 21:55

Mmmmmm caramel. What was it? It wasn't chocolate.

backtowork2015 · 23/02/2017 21:55

Caramac! Silly phone

Scholes34 · 23/02/2017 22:30

I like white chocolate in chunks in brownies or cookies, especially with raspberries. I like white chocolate ganache on a chocolate cake. However, it only lends more sweetness to anything like a cheesecake, doesn't have enough flavour of its own and is just a waste of calories.

PrincessWizard - white chocolate isn't the work of the devil. Goat's cheese is the work of the devil.
