Lorelai Gilmore is such a bitch! *SPOILERS*

On maternity leave. I may have binge watched 6 series of Gilmore Girls Blush (whilst also doing mindless prep for baby tasks, laundry, knitting, batch cooking etc, don't judge me!).

She is controlling and hypocritical as displays many of the characteristics of her parents who she claims to dislike so much, self centred, a show and treats men abominably! I find myself disliking her more and more with every episode (just hitting the bit where she cheats on Luke) Angry

MoonriseKingdom · 22/02/2017 09:54

It's always the apparently nice ones Grin

InfiniteSheldon · 22/02/2017 11:57

On a lighter note I'm on series 4 now and pregnant Suki/Sookie? Is utterly beautiful and about two stone lighter !! Wish that happened to me Smile

Chippednailvarnishing · 22/02/2017 13:13

Didn't think much of Logan until I watched The Good Wife Grin

I hate the way lorelie refers every conversation to when Rory's was that age/interested in that/took a fucking Shit.
They do seem to think they are the only mother/daughter combo in the world.

Was shocked at how Rory is basically logan's bit on the side 10 years later, it's like her life just slide into Shit.
Didn't like Rory though, the way everyone worshipped her when she didn't actually do anything great. People just kept saying she was great.

Did find parts of the new one very funny though. How Rory kept forgetting her bf, and the one liners.

I'm team logan's, but that's just cause I want to sit on his face lol

Chippednailvarnishing · 22/02/2017 13:26

Grin star

MidnightAura · 22/02/2017 13:29

I enjoy just started GG. Only on series one. (I've not read the spoilers) so far Lorelai seems ok?

goodiegoodieyumyum · 22/02/2017 13:31

I think Sukie was really selfish when they were setting up the Inn I know she was pregnant but she just left Lorelei to do everything and says her job is as a cook and she shouldn't be bothered with everything else, she was actually very self obsessed at the time.

MoonriseKingdom · 22/02/2017 13:53

When does Sukie see her children? The inn is open 7 days per week. They do 3 massively elaborate meals a day. She won't trust anyone else to take charge. The food always looks amazing though. It's one of my favourite bits of the show.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 22/02/2017 14:29

Logan is a dick (although handsome!!) I don't know why anyone likes him. Ugh.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 22/02/2017 14:30

Especially in the new episodes!!

Bluebellevergreen · 22/02/2017 14:31

Didn't think much of Logan until I watched The Good Wife
SAME HERE 😍😍😍😍

Bluebellevergreen · 22/02/2017 14:32

Watching GG as an adult and honestly how much do I hate Lorelai!
But then again I really dislike Rori after watching the new stuff

user1471503992 · 22/02/2017 19:23

I was so delighted when Rory dumped Logan to go off and follow her career - I thought it was the perfect end to a feminist show - and then in the reboot it's like that never happened! I know the original writer didn't do series 7 so ignored it but come on! The rest of us watched s7 so you can't pretend it doesn't exist!

I was rather sadly reflecting that I don't think I've watched any show other than GG that a) has a whole cast of female characters b) without them being solely interested in finding men a la Sex in the City and c) that is openly feminist. And GG is ten years old! Please tell me they're out there and I just missed them?

Loopyloo80 · 22/02/2017 20:09

Agreed, user! Would also like to find another show like it! Girls maybe, but it's very different.

user1471503992 · 22/02/2017 22:53

I started watching Girls but they were all so self-obsessed and entitled I couldn't hack it. People keep telling me it gets better though.

Trills · 23/02/2017 08:01

I thought Lorelai looked perfectly like she was 48.

Jess appears to have grown up.

Ev1lEdna · 23/02/2017 09:26

Sometimes I disliked both Rory and Lorelai and sometimes I liked them. I think they are both flawed human beings which is pretty accurate as people aren't perfect.

As for Lane's storyline, it was a bit of a shame she got pregnant so quickly but the likelihood of a band succeeding is pretty small. I would have loved to see her get a chance though.

I do agree that the unprepared Rory was out of character although she was more arrogant as she got older I doubt she would be so sure of herself she would be unprepared. As for the cheating I wasn't impressed. I do like Logan but I hate cheating so it puts me off. As for Luke - I love him. You people leave him alone Angry Wink

user1487175389 · 23/02/2017 09:49

Oh I love Luke too! Something about the way he stands Blush

SpringerS · 23/02/2017 10:42

In the original series Lorelai's treatment of Rory after she runs out on Max and her behaviour at Fran's funeral were where I could no longer pretend she was anything other than a selfish, selfish person. In the first, he teenage daughter has had to suffer through the humiliating reveal in front of the whole school that her mother and teacher were in a relationship. Then Lorelai kept putting Rory in situations with Max that she told her mother she was uncomfortable with but Lorelai kept pushing her for no reason better than her own lack of consideration. Eventually Rory grows not just comfortable with Max and Lorelai as a couple but is happy and excited to have him as a step-father. (A fucking HUGE deal to an teenager). And Lorelai wakes her in the middle of the night, makes her run away with her and refuses to discuss what is happening because she's not ready to talk about it. Fuck that Lorelai, you forced your daughter to adapt to the idea of a new family set up with her teacher at a bear minimum your job as a parent is to do everything in your power to help her understand why that won't be happening and how you can minimise how awful it will be for her in school for the next two years.

And at Fran's funeral, she just chattered through the whole service obsessing about nothing other than how she could buy the Dragonfly. She was so unforgivably rude and disrespectful, if I was Fran's nephew I'd have decided there and then to sell to anyone but her. Even if she was the highest bidder.

You should try Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. It sounds like it's this awful trope-y show about an over the top stereotype of a man obsessed woman but it's actually an incredibly smart show that turns the trope on it's head while also making commentary on mental health. You have to be ok with musicals though.

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 23/02/2017 11:01

Springer I was about to suggest the same! But I don't like musicals, I just skipped all the songs in CEG

steff13 · 23/02/2017 11:07

Oh it broke my heart a little when Rory was interviewing Max for the paper and she told him she'd really wanted him to be her stepfather.

SpringerS · 23/02/2017 11:11

Is that possible? There seem to be a lot of songs in each episode of CEG! I'm not a musical fan usually but I do love the UTI song which was great and I kind of loved I Could If I Wanted To as well for some reason. Tbh, I developed quite the crush on Santino Fontana and can now only ever root for Prince Hans when I watch Frozen.
