Erm... am I the only one who likes Lorelai?! (And also agree with pps finding the posts about her appearance disappointing. She's a woman in Hollywood. We all know they can't win. And I still think she looks great - she's almost 50!)
I loved that the show always passed the bechdel test every episode. Lorelai was witty and brave and a feminist.
Okay she was kind of a mess with relationships though - and I was uncomfortable about when she stopped talking to Rory when she quit school (but the writers probably had to find a way to make them fight for plot reasons!).
The junk food thing went a bit far.
And yeah - Dean was a bit stalkery.
Rory was never my favourite. I never got why the town adored her either.
Paris and Emily were by FAR the best characters. And, in the revival, have the best plot lines. I wanted more Paris!
I also felt really disappointed about Lane's plot from season 7 and in the revival. Lane was so cool! She never seemed destined to just turn into her mother.
It was so irritating how ASP mostly ignored season 7 because she didn't write it. Rory didn't come across well in the revival at all. But then, she wasn't too concerned about whether or not the guys she was with were attached even when she was young. Dean was married when she slept with him. But you'd have hoped she'd have outgrown that!
Also agreed that Lorelai's cruel words at her father's funeral weren't really true to character.
I thought Lauren Graham did a great job overall in the revival though. The final episode, when she had her memory about her father, made me tear up.
I'd love another series to see how she handles Rory's pregnancy etc
(and to see more of Emily and Paris!).
