I'm fat. I'm losing weight, being much healthier etc. But I want another baby. Are there any women out there who had a relatively straightforward pregnancy and birth whilst being fat?

My first pregnancy with DS was ok except for SPD in third trimester and then high BP at the end worked full time throughout. I had em cs after a failed induction and it was pretty bad (lots of blood loss, minor infection afterwards) and I'm scared that It will be worse this time now I'm older.

I do understand the risks and I'm making changes (lost a stone so far this year) but realistically I can't wait much longer - I'm nearly 39.

I'd really appreciate you sharing your experiences if you've been in a similar situation.

Thank you.

First time, pregnancy normal but elcs due to developing pre-eclampsia at 38 weeks.

2nd time, pregnancy again fine and VBAC.

The only thing I'd now do different is for a 2nd elcs as I felt I recovered better.

When I was in the GD clinic, I was pretty much the only lardarse in there. What I did notice was that they all looked to be over 35, or to be having twins. I think age might be a bigger factor than weight, perhaps, and there ain't nothing you can do about that!

Apparently the magic figure to help avoid GD is to weigh below 190lbs, so about 13 and 1/2 stone. But I read that in an article, so no idea how accurate it is.

I wouldn't get pg again at my current BMI, which is about 32; I would want to be below 30. I don't want diabetes, it haunts me!!

BMI was 47 when I got pregnant. My blood pressure was fine throughout and my GTT was fine. I was under consultant care.

Birth was a bit tricky as DD got herself in a funny position so ended up with a CS.
They decided to wait until morning when all the senior staff were in so I was quite the VIP.

However every pregnancy and birth is different OP so our experiences may be quite different to yours.

DD's position could have happened whatever my weight btw
