To want to ram it into the ankles of anyone in front of me who walks really slow/ stops/ or cuts across me?

OP posts:
NotYoda · 17/02/2017 08:47

deliberate

LilacSpatula · 17/02/2017 08:47

Sometimes but it's soooo much more tempting on the underground when you have a wheely case...

notgettingyounger · 17/02/2017 08:50

We need Fast Lanes and Slow Lanes on pavements. Simples.

PS I have more often been held up as a pedestrian by slow moving buggies than I was ever held up by pedestrians when I had a pushchair - mind you, that was pre-mobile phones so not so many people were dawdling.

FurryLittleTwerp · 17/02/2017 08:54

My theory is that people push pushchairs & shopping trolleys in the same way that they drive cars especially in the local huge Tesco

The way they lurch across aisles or pavements roads without looking what's coming, or stop suddenly in the middle of entrances or narrow bits junctions drives me berserk!

I push things like I drive - I keep looking over my shoulder before swerving about & everything Grin

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 17/02/2017 08:58

OP - when you are dashing about with your buggy getting irritated by other pedestrians, spare a thought for when you have a toddler dawdling around getting in people's way - then it will be other people's turn to get irritated. I presume that's okay though as I'm sure it works both ways?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 17/02/2017 09:01

Although like a PP I have only ever seen tanks buggies being pushed slowly and holding everyone else up Grin

LRDtheFeministDragon · 17/02/2017 09:02

Can we also kill the people who are oblivious in doorways?

The other way I stopped to let someone coming the other way with a pushchair come through.

So the pile of tourists behind me ambled around me and stood blocking the door way in front of her. Hmm

Funnyface1 · 17/02/2017 09:06

It's people that literally climb over the pram that piss me right off. Also people that park in a way that you can't fit on the path. Paths are for people, why should I have to take my baby round and into the road? Grinds my gears.

OverthinkingSpartacus · 17/02/2017 09:06

You'll go from being annoyed at people suddenly stopping in front of you when you're using pushchair, to thinking everybody needs to be patient and understanding when it's you doing the suddenly stopping as your toddler has stopped to admire a crack in the pavement, interesting turd, piece of litter etc etc. :)

CigarsofthePharoahs · 17/02/2017 09:07

Can I mention shops that clutter up their aisles with all sorts of crap so that negotiating your way round even with a small buggy becomes impossible?
Nevertheless you have to go in as they're the only local shop that stocks what you happen to need. So you go in and then end up stuck halfway down an aisle for ages as their are people clogging up both ends of the aisle who seen to think "excuse me, can I get past?" actually means "please stand stock still and ignore me".

I very much agree in having a fast and a slow lane. I'd also like retractable spikes on my buggy for revenge on all the idiots who park up on the pavement, not leaving me enough room to get through.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 17/02/2017 09:11

Yes of course you bloody are!

Does that include old ladies? Or are they exempt? Because there's other reasons why younger people walk slow too, like arthritis which many young people have. So would it just be young people but you'd leave the older ones alone?

Jesus wept! I still can't fathom why some people think some parents have an entitlement problem... Hmm

amusedbush · 17/02/2017 09:17

Sure! Also, make sure that you batter the ankles of shoppers in crowded clothes shops the Saturday after payday and only walk in a straight path, never swerving around anyone even if you have space on your side and the oncoming person has to defy the laws of physics to get away from your buggy's wheels.

Just my experience? WinkGrin

AwaywiththePixies27 · 17/02/2017 09:17

Fenella I was overdue with my DS. The mood I was in anyone rammed me with a pushchair because I was going too slow would have got full wrath of me.

Hope your lo makes an appearance soon.

SuperFlyHigh · 17/02/2017 09:17

Miaow yes, that gives me the rage two women with buggies walking at snails pace taking up all the pavement!

More than once I've had to dive into the road to get past them and some of them could easily move their buggy to the side to allow me to pass on the pavement! Grrrr

NotYoda · 17/02/2017 09:17

So, to summarise:

There's always someone to be pissed off with

AwaywiththePixies27 · 17/02/2017 09:20

All these people in so much of a rush with their buggies/prams/tanks actually haven't said where they were in a rush to get to yet.

Odd that...

I had a double buggy with my DCs. Never managed to ram anyone's ankles because I'm not an entitled tit.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 17/02/2017 09:22

Maybe we need adverts on the telly, like the motorbike ones : "Think pushchair"

Why? Do pushchairs go at 30-40mph and weave in and out of traffic on major roads?

AwaywiththePixies27 · 17/02/2017 09:25

We need Fast Lanes and Slow Lanes on pavements. Simples.

They do in London dont they? As I found out to my detriment. I have a knee injury which has left me with a limp (apologies to all the mums who I may have inadvertently held up with my annoying self because I cant walk fast enough some days).
When I visited my aunt and uncle once. She took us back to the train station and told us they'd grab the DCs when we got off the tube to St Pancras and for me to keep up. I've never seen them move so fast in my life and I was left trailing behind Grin

GinIsIn · 17/02/2017 09:26

AwayWithThePixies I think murderous pretty much sums up the current state of mind! Grin The postman just greeted me at the door with "no baby yet? " and nearly had his letters inserted somewhere inappropriate!! Grin

SteppingOnToes · 17/02/2017 09:27

"Excuse me" would work too

AwaywiththePixies27 · 17/02/2017 09:29

Fenella Grin

AwaywiththePixies27 · 17/02/2017 09:32

Although like a PP I have only ever seen tanks buggies being pushed slowly and holding everyone else up grin

Livia me too. When we walk the school run. There's an army of four mums with prams who walk in a straight line and don't go into a single file once to allow for other passers-by to use the pavement too. It doesn't matter that all the people going the other way have to get to school and work too.

yeOldeTrout · 17/02/2017 09:32

I sometimes get this rage if I go shopping about 10am when the OAPs fill the supermarkets. It's a sign I need to give myself more shopping time in future.

tinytemper66 · 17/02/2017 09:32

I knocked someone over with my son`s wheelchair as he had stopped in front of me! I caught him in the shins!

AwaywiththePixies27 · 17/02/2017 09:37

Those pesky OAPs. Going shopping in supermarkets for food and stuff. Confused
