To Fucking hate periods and contraception and my GP and all this womanly bullshit.

I am 2 weeks in to my period (yes, 2 Fucking weeks of bleeding) and it shows no sign of stopping.

I've been down this road before and I'm fairly confident that it's due to my contraceptive pill.

Trouble is, I've tried pretty much every contraceptive available and none of them work!

I've got pregnant twice using microgynon,
The injection and the patches made me bleed constantly,
Had a Mirena coil which caused me lots of pain, and other sexual issues,
I have some sensory issues and HATE condoms. Honestly, the feel and smell of them makes my skin crawl.
I don't like the idea of rhythm method as I had hypermesis in my last pregnancy so I know I couldn't cope with a surprise pregnancy.

I need a GP appointment, to at least get some advice spiralling this nonsense, but our surgery is the sort where you phone on the day and despite phoning for 3 days, there haven't been any left.

So, wibu to whip out my entire reproductive system and I dunno, just throw it out the window?

We've discussed it, and he's not keen, I'd happily be sterilized, but I'm 26 so my gp won't refer me.

Has anybody 'doubled up' on hormonal contraceptives? Or is that a really bad idea?

He's not keen? Is he a wuss? Why should you keep putting yourself through all that shit, just because he's not keen. A vasectomy is a very simple procedure done under local anaesthetic. Tell him to man up.

Other GPs may refer you for sterilisation chat... A gynae was happy to book me in for surgery at 29 yo as I was sure I only wanted one child.

There's a private only treatment called Essure (google it) that essentaiy puts little tiny corks in your fallopain tubes. Like sterilisation but doesn't need actual surgery.
That might work but it's a few grand at least (my SIL looked into it a few years ago).

I bet he's 'not keen' whilst he's got a partner who keeps taking hormones.

Stop them and stop the sex until he takes some responsibility. You can't force him to have a vasectomy, but you shouldn't have to put up with lots of bleeding.

Why not try to get an appointment with your local Family Planning clinic? See what they say?

Do not get Essure. There is a huge problem with this method and women in the US are taking the manufacturer to court over it. It's leaving women in constant pain.

Rhythm method isn't reliable, but there are reliable natural methods - you could look into the sympto thermal method or the billings method (there's a very good book - taking charge of your fertility), which are comparable in effectiveness to contraception, if done properly.

If you don't fancy a natural method though, your best bet sounds like dp getting the snip. He isn't "keen"? Tell him you aren't keen on periods which last for two months, pain and the other issues you mentioned, so it's looking like abstinence for the forseeable future. You are going through an awful time here, you are not obligated to pump yourself full of stuff which is causing you serious issues - you don't have to make all of the sacrifices.

Yep - keep pushing to see a gynae... IME they're usually happy to sterilise if you emphasise how you are 100% sure of no more babies.

Honestly, he's not like that. He's never been anything but respectful to me, and if I wanted to stop having sex, he'd be a little hurt but he'd deal with it. I don't want to though, and I don't think withholding sex to pressure someone into a medical procedure they don't want is OK.

If he did that to me, I'd Lyn in a heartbeat.

Try a family planning clinic instead. Which pill are you using? Cervical cap or diaphragm any good for you?

Can't believe people are pushing the OPs partner to have the snip. Imagine the reverse:
I hate using condoms, what shall I do?
Tell your partner to have a hysterectomy

Thanks for all the advice, essure is out for the foreseeable future as we couldn't afford it right now anyway, I'll definitely look into other natural methods and keep pushing for a gp appointment.
Our family planning clinic was shut down last year and there hasn't been an alternative put in place yet.

Copper coil worked for me and my GP jumped at the suggestion and fitted it following day. No hormones, no discomfort.

As others have suggested, speak to family planning and not the GP if not getting joy at your surgery.

Ah diaphragm might be an option. I'm currently using Celeste, which worked fine while I was breastfeeding but I've just bled since stopping feeding dd2 a month ago.

I think it might suit you best to use a combined pill. Starting on a new pill can result in breakthrough bleeding for a couple of weeks so you will need to give it time for your body to adjust.

With your GP's permission you can then run monthly packs together thus avoiding a period. I run packs together with a week gap every 3 months. So, only 4 periods a year.

Sorry, cross posted. I see you have been using Celeste. It might be best to let your hormones settle and continue with that. Most combined pills are similar ingredients wise.

Please ignore this comment. Some men can have very bad side-effects. We'd be outraged if a man told us to woman up over periods so can we please refrain from doing it ourselves.

As for GP - does your surgery let you make a book ahead appointment for say 3 weeks' time? Or just turn up at the second it opens so you get ahead of those on the phone?

I had Celeste many moons ago, the GP stopped me from using it and gave me Microgynon which killed my libido. I guess that kind of had the contraceptive effect but wasn't quite the way I was expecting.

Sorry I missed a bit - the GP said that Celeste was an old-fashioned one and took me off it and this was about 20 years ago. It was much better for me that Microgynon was though.
