I really can't understand anyone actually falling for the fake news thing when ALL the news media are saying the same thing... except Fox (which has not had the best rep anyway).

That leads me to believe it's wilful disregard of the facts - not wanting to admit they were wrong - or simply not willing to believe it's so god-awful. There'll always be those that will side with him no matter what.

GingerIvy · 15/02/2017 16:17

Ah - there is too much renewed interest in ACA, so now they're trying to gut it from the inside. Horrible.

www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/trump-health-officials-propose-rule-to-shore-up-affordable-care-act-marketplaces/2017/02/15/1f69bd7c-f307-11e6-b9c9-e83fce42fb61_story.html?tid=sm_tw&utm_term=.4e600ebff100
The new rule — the first move by the Trump administration to alter regulations for the ACA — would make it harder for consumers to buy health coverage outside of the law’s regular enrollment periods, give insurers power to deny new coverage to people late in paying their premiums and create more rigorous checks of applicants’ eligibility.

At the same time, the changes would eliminate federal reviews of whether health plans in the ACA marketplaces have enough doctors and other providers of care, a task the states would instead handle. And by cutting how much insurers must pick up for a specific benefit package, the changes would allow them to plans with higher deductibles.

Sorry, I'm out of the loop - I'm referring to Trump's tweets earlier today. Not so many bland picture tweets.

Ginger and Cozie No, I agree, but it's still 'sad' to have to choose between those two. Pence would be technically 'better' because he understands 'the system', he understands diplomacy, he understands a politician's need for a dignified 'image', and he understands how to 'walk the edge' between getting what you want and having to compromise. Above all he knows when to keep his mouth shut and stop himself from making the country embarrassed by his remarks.

His anti-woman/LGBT agenda scares me, though, and makes me afraid for the people who would affected, even though (hopefully) any damage would be fixed in the 2019 Congressional Session and the 2020 Presidential election. But, in the meantime, that isn't going to help the girl or woman who finds herself pregnant and can't get an abortion or the partner of a dying person who is denied 'next of kin' status because they are in a same sex relationship.

It'd have to be a two fold plan of action which (unfortunately) would mean that Scrotus stays in office for 2 years. First there would need to be a 'Democratic Revolution' in 2018 to gain a good majority in Congress then the moves to impeach Scrotus and remove him from office. This would 'roadblock' Pence from putting in action much of his agenda.

Hopefully the Democrats have a good 'game plan' and are playing the long game.

I wouldn't want to be Angry Spice today. Wonder if they'll still do a press briefing. I imagine so - he'll be Angry Spice in a big way today - denying (via orders from Trump) to denounce the media and make a statement with no questions. That's my bet.

TheMysteriousJackelope · 15/02/2017 17:04

There is an interesting article in Politico. It put forward the idea that Spicer and Conway talk nonsense on TV not to convince the American public but purely to give a public demonstration of their loyalty to Trump. It doesn't matter that they can be called out for inaccuracies, lies, or flat out not making sense, all that matters is that Trump can see they are behind him 100%. The concept is that to gain power in the White House depends purely on how much you are trusted by Trump.

I have no idea if that is true or not, but it would explain a lot. The idea that someone who is inept, or downright malignant could get into a position of power purely through sucking up is frightening.

GingerIvy · 15/02/2017 17:05

Jack Patriot Barbie has pretty much said that in a recent interview - I remember seeing it.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 15/02/2017 17:07

I wonder if this will all be made into a series on Netflix?

What's that famous quote? "Truth is stranger than fiction because fiction has to make sense." I think it would lose some of its riotous colour and madness in the adaptation.

GingerIvy · 15/02/2017 17:13

I imagine it'll make for an interesting documentary for future generations.
