To worry about my internet history?

EssieTregowan · 13/02/2017 21:24

I've just clicked through from an article about the new Neil Gaiman book, to the film Aristocrats, to a website about the joke 'the Aristocrats' (gross) to a wiki page on infanticide.

I swear to god if anyone close to me is murdered I am fucked.

Is it just me?

Probably Confused

Iusedtobedontcall · 13/02/2017 21:25

I like to Google dangerous countries and see what the travel advice is Hmm so today I've looked at Mogadishu.

Clickncollect · 13/02/2017 21:28

I was recently an avid reader of the MN Blind Gossip threads and had to google all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff to try and break the code names. My internet history is now a disgrace!

EssieTregowan · 13/02/2017 21:29

Honestly I end up being randomly directed to all sorts of dodge.

I am quite interested in crime stuff so I probably have a search history full of serial killers and stuff.

You read about people being done for murder based on their google search for 'ways to hide a body'. That'll be me.

Bahh · 13/02/2017 21:30

I do nowt but read about serial killers so I wouldn't worry.

ArchNotImpudent · 13/02/2017 21:31

As someone once said to me, your internet search history represents all your innermost hopes, fears, fantasies, obsessions and delusions so YANBU.

ProudBadMum · 13/02/2017 21:34

My history could get me arrested. I google things to win arguments so a lot of weird questions.

emma2468 · 13/02/2017 21:36

I'm fascinated by serial killers so god help me too!

SilenceIsBroken · 13/02/2017 21:39

An Internet history is like a digital id. Freud would love it.

Remember when mine was full of dogging websites after a rather illuminating MN thread on the subject. And another time, the gentlemen4hire site.

hungryhippo90 · 13/02/2017 21:44

Gentlemen4hire..... sounds interesting!
🙉🐵🙈 I am curious. I have to go and see.

I think most people nowadays would be worried if the police saw their search history. I've made some downright odd searches! I can't think of anything particularly interesting at the moment, but I do often catch myself thinking, irs a bit odd I'm googling this!

missmoohoo · 13/02/2017 21:48

This is me too.
I think I would be arrested. The worst times have been when the sex topics popup. I have to google to know what they mean.
The blind gossip thread. That's not too bad.
The worst one is when a conspiracy thread pops up.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 13/02/2017 21:55

Grin You'd be fine.

I'm writing a book about (amongst other things) lesbian dildo-usage in the fifteenth century. You can imagine what I've clicked on by accident. Luckily, my workplace is very understanding.

DoloresVanCartier · 13/02/2017 21:56

Mine is full of serial killers, unsolved murders etc. I'm knackered I think!!

travellinglighter · 13/02/2017 21:58

Every time there is an atrocity then I have a hugely curious urge to figure out how they do it. I have resisted the urge to google fertiliser bombs, IED construction and terrorist handbook so that I don’t kidnapped and transferred to a CIA black site by mercenaries.

LotsOfAxolotlsAndOcelots · 13/02/2017 22:04

Don't go Googling pink sock, blue waffle or dragon butter like I did back then peeps Grin

travellinglighter · 13/02/2017 22:05

And now I have the gentlemen4hire on my internet history just because I was wondering what the going rate for selling my body is. Nothing is what I’m guessing however the website seems to have gone.

Sparklingbrook · 13/02/2017 22:06

I delete my browsing history a lot. Grin I fear one day my laptop might die without warning (it's 3 months old so unlikely) but I don't want IT man seeing my sad 80s internet adventures or all the websites of cats. [blush}

ProudBadMum · 13/02/2017 22:06

I wondered that before traveling I did google escort price lists

Sparklingbrook · 13/02/2017 22:06

Blush even

missmoohoo · 13/02/2017 22:08

@Traveler you hit a nail on the head with murders. I read every thing to do with a murder case to try and solve it.
Every gossip going I will be on to it. I haven't done any digging on information for this year yet. Am waiting for an intriguing one. There is always one. No offence!
I keep truck of old ones too, to see how they have developed.

BathshebaDarkstone · 13/02/2017 22:09

You do know Axalotls I'm going to have to Google those now. Grin

NeverGoOutOfStyle · 13/02/2017 22:11

@Iusedtobedontcall I do that too!

My internet history is such a weird amount of unrelated stuff. I assume if DP is murdered and they look through it, I'll be okay though.

RhodaBorrocks · 13/02/2017 22:14

Mines full of serial killers, conspiracy theories and penguin bollards, guess I'm going away for a long time if it ever sees the light of day!

Spudlet · 13/02/2017 22:15

I fell down a YouTube rabbit hole of videos of wellies being made Blush. Should I come to an abrupt end any time soon, I shall be marked out as a boot fetishist.

There's just something very relaxing about it, I found Blush

mumofthemonsters808 · 13/02/2017 22:17

I was watching a crime drama last week in which the main characters search history was checked, I cringed because I thought what mine would unravel. I have a habit of just googling random people and seeing what comes up. I really can't afford to be a victim of crime, never mind a criminal and there is not point deleting it because it can all be traced (well according to Silent Witness). I thought it was only me who behaved inappropriately when DH goes to bed early.
