To worry about my internet history?

I've just clicked through from an article about the new Neil Gaiman book, to the film Aristocrats, to a website about the joke 'the Aristocrats' (gross) to a wiki page on infanticide.

I swear to god if anyone close to me is murdered I am fucked.

Is it just me?

Mine is certainly a good mix of topics from various topics to the more basic such as archaeology , forensics etc although sometimes i wonder what would be made of the various topics if anyone was to browse through my usage, i have a quite various interests plus sometimes i can flit from one topic to the next.

ANameToHide · 14/02/2017 01:06

i love googling the grim stuff and then telling everyone about it out fortnightly Sunday lunch. My Mum just rolls her eyes and says "mumsnet?" whenever I give her a word to guess what it means. It all started with dragon butter several years ago :)

Dont google it if you are queasy though.

ReapAndSow · 14/02/2017 01:30

I think any dodgy internet searches can be explained away by saying that you are a Mumsnetter.

My biggest worry is that someone will find out that I've looked at the Daily Mail...

Oh dear, I can't believe I just admitted that..... I'm off to name change Shock Blush

MongerTruffle · 14/02/2017 06:43

A few years ago a woman in America was arrested for looking up "pressure cooker" and "backpack" two years apart.

Anotherdayanotherscreenname · 14/02/2017 07:00

Surely this is just a thread to throw the detectives off the thread op? Hmm

Anotherdayanotherscreenname · 14/02/2017 07:01

Quick follow up - totally joking but that hmm is used so aggressively now I need to clarify that! Grin

Hatemylifenow · 14/02/2017 07:06

I like to Google dangerous countries and see what the travel advice is

I do this too!!!!

PenelopeFlintstone · 14/02/2017 07:08

I've googled fisting and that fanny-licking dominatrix chair/throne thing - both threads in the Sex topic but came up on Active. What a pervert my kids will think I am if I get hit by a bus. 'Clearing your Search History' is the new 'Make Sure You're Wearing Clean Underwear'.

LotsOfAxolotlsAndOcelots · 14/02/2017 08:04

Soz Pavlovian I now know what a mushroom stamp is and I wish I didn't
Grin

ElderDruid · 14/02/2017 08:14

Why does your friend want to put her daughters leg in a cast?

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 14/02/2017 08:22

I love true crime podcasts so my internet history is a mixture of serial killers, crime scene photos and murderpedia!

PenelopeFlintstone · 14/02/2017 08:34

Envy at mushroom stamp - not envy

PavlovianLunge · 14/02/2017 08:49

Lots, mushroom stamp? I shouldn't look, should I?

VeryFoolishFay · 14/02/2017 08:56

Mine is mostly about cake.

I am really interested in family history and discovered that my great great grandfather was convicted of attempted buggery of a cow in 1874 and sentenced to 18 months hard labour. He was also indicted for another offence involving a donkey in 1896. I would be really interested to research the social context of all this. How shocking would have been the neighbours? He went back to his wife and had a further 4 children before they finally separated.

I'm terrified of googling in case of brings up images I'd never unsee. Plus a visit from the vice squad.

SouthWestmom · 14/02/2017 09:28

😂 gentleman for hire is hilarious. God help me if dh keels over one day and I fancy some company.

So many taken at weddings! Or open loo seats! Or half naked ! My area is seriously lacking in men I'd shell out for .

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 14/02/2017 09:33

I write as a hobby so mysearches can be rather 'interesting'.
As well as that though I've had a lot of interest in a lot of the Crime Investigation Australia cases (especially those that were unsolved) and the cases from the show Disappeared so i must look like a freak in general.

MargotLovedTom1 · 14/02/2017 09:53

Thank you for enlightening me re pink sock Pavlovian. Now what on earth is a mushroom stamp? Grin

When the whole Jimmy Savile fall out was happening, there were long running threads on here about dark goings on and establishment cover ups. It was very easy to get lost in weird little websites run by people who made David Icke look sane and reasonable so my search history at that time probably looked rather odd.

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 14/02/2017 09:55

Damn, I have changed internet provider and it has a net nanny, so I can't look at men4hire (well, not without going to all the bother of taking the net nanny off, which I can't be bothered to do).

My best internet history moment -

Very early days of the internet, flying to a conference in the US, looking for cheap flights. Thought to myself "Virgin Atlantic do cheap flights..." You can guess what happened next. Fortunately, like I say, early days of the internet so the google search just threw up text-based descriptions of the sites, but those were pretty bad. I sat there thinking "I'm going to get thrown off my PhD for searching porn on the university computer network..."

BishopBrennansArse · 14/02/2017 10:21

Hmm.
Knitting, crochet, serial killers, findadeath.com, loads of weird medical shit....

TiggyD · 14/02/2017 10:30

I was worried about my Google searches after preparing for my camping holiday in Scotland. It auto corrected and searched "How to kill midgets" instead of midges.

Matchstickbox · 14/02/2017 10:59

Tiggy that's made my laugh so much!!

PavlovianLunge · 14/02/2017 19:28

Margot, I assumed mushroom stamp would involve a penis and a shoe, but I risked a google, and it's not that. But it's still a bit Envy.

travellinglighter · 15/02/2017 21:16

Thanks silence, as I thought, I’m free to a good home. Think three legged one eyed mutt in a dogs home full of huskies and labradors. Lucky I have a girlfriend and she gets my time for free.

maddiemookins16mum · 15/02/2017 21:19

Yep me too (I read in some detail Whitney Houstons autopsy report the other day!!!). I often look at court transcripts too.
I accept I'm odd.
