What lovely things have happened so far in 2017? I got a new job I thought I had no chance for, after not working since last year following major life changes. What great things have happened to you this year?

After a very difficult pregnancy, and a really tough time when we thought she wasn't going to make it, our beautiful baby girl arrived last month. Right now she's lying on my chest fast asleep 😍

I won £30 on a £2 scratchcard, that's been the extent of my good tidings in 2017 thus far!

RedGrapeCornSnake · 13/02/2017 16:32

Bank will finally lend us enough money for our own house - we are now house hunting!
I have a date for cataract surgery, my vision has been deteriorating for quite a while now so I'm excited (and nervous!) to get it done.
We're also car hunting after an expensive time at the garage with the current one, newer car will be nice though so silver linings!

New Job and in laws are moving to be closer to us..... It'll be the first time we've ever had family relatively close by (work forced moving a lot) Grin

He's very happy Grin

Ann Summers in my town is having an amazing sale, I've got an absolute ton of lovely lingerie now! It's given us quite a boost....!!

PineapplePunch · 13/02/2017 17:12

After a miscarriage 5 years ago and then infertility followed by unsuccessful fertility treatment and then a round of ivf I finally had my perfect baby this year.

ASDismynormality · 13/02/2017 17:13

I bumped in to one of my childhood best friends today whilst out shopping, we hadn't seen each other for about 24 years! Left me with a lovely warm fuzzy feeling seeing her so happy with her family.

Ethelswith · 13/02/2017 17:15

For me, not so much.

For the DC, it's been brilliant. One has made it to a national ranking in their sport. The other has reached the regional finals in theirs.

lemureyes · 13/02/2017 17:16

Expecting my first child on my first wedding anniversary.
Getting a new car.
Hubby starting a new job soon.
Lucky enough to be a SAHM when baby arrives!

BoogleMcGroogle · 13/02/2017 17:18

DS can now say 'yes' clearly as well as the 'g' 'dr' and 'bl' sounds. It doesn't sound much for a 5 year old but he has verbal dyspraxia and it is a huge achievement, both for him and his fantastic speech therapist, teachers and support assistants. I love my determined little boy so much :)

Wantagoodname · 13/02/2017 17:23

I might finally have a house just for me and dd after living with my parents for years!!
Just have to pass the references etc but then it's mine!!

MerlinsBeard87 · 13/02/2017 18:07

It's a good year for us so far! Finally handed in my PhD after 4.5 years of working on it (although whether the bugger will pass is still in question) and I'm 5 weeks pregnant with dc2

JustHavinABreak · 13/02/2017 18:07

Love this thread...congratulations all!

Heyheyheygoodbye · 13/02/2017 18:09

DH got a great new job after suddenly being made redundant before Christmas Smile

sandragreen · 13/02/2017 18:14

I am finally losing serious amounts of weight after putting on four stone in four years.

Also got some interesting work where I get to travel abroad - I bloody love my job Grin

ifigoup · 13/02/2017 18:16

DH got a £1K tax rebate!

HermioneJeanGranger · 13/02/2017 18:23

I've lost 9lbs since Christmas and dropped a dress size!

We got a new cat and OH quit smoking too :)

ollieplimsoles · 13/02/2017 18:31

Finally took control of my emotional eating and the weight is effortlessly falling off. I can't tell you the torment food was in my life before I started sorting it out. I have not eaten normally since I was 14, my weight has been plummeting and piling on on and off til now.

jo10000 · 13/02/2017 18:31

These are lovely, congratulations everyone.

bookworm80 · 13/02/2017 20:08

Happy day here. We have just heard that our critical Illness insurance is going to pay out and by the end of the week we will be able to pay off our mortgage. My husband is two years into remission from cancer. We only just read the policy 3 weeks ago as we were convinced it only covered us for terminal illness. It's been like winning the lottery 😁Just had a bottle of champagne and now we're looking at holidays 😁😁

DanglyEarOrnaments · 13/02/2017 20:17

Things are just going well in general, in all directions, other years have been a funny mix but I feel very good about things right now! Smile
