We're getting a takeaway and having a movie night. With all three kids (two teens and a 5yo).

We really know how to celebrate Grin

The valentine's Bunny my lovely Dad always delivers a personalised, wrapped box of maltesers for each person (that's 4 kids and 7 grandchildren...) in the middle of the night to be found on the doorstep in the morning.

How does it look in your house? Hotbed of steamy romance or just another weekday?

maddiemookins16mum · 13/02/2017 15:48

DD is on a sleepover, we're going to see La La Land and having dinner somewhere (nowt posh, the local pub probably).

roseteapot101 · 13/02/2017 16:03

First valentines day with new boyfriend..I've never really gone for it, but seem to be a bit soppy this year!

I have a mysterious envelope throu gh the post which I assume is from him (very well disguised handwriting!). I've bought a silly hot dawg card and am going to arrive on his doorstep tomorrow evening with a steak dinner and red wine.

Iamastonished · 13/02/2017 20:50

Nothing. OH and I don't "do" Valentine's day (OH decided it was just commercial claptrap), and he is away anyway.

DD and her boyfriend have decided not to "do" Valentine's day either.

PasDevantLesElephants · 13/02/2017 20:56

I'm taking DS to see the Chris and Pui Roadshow, talk about a hot date!

Shockers · 13/02/2017 20:58

DH is singing for other romantic couples, so I will be spouseless.

I'm taking the caravan to a nice spot about an hour away if the wind drops. DD and I will cook ourselves a nice dinner there and read books, or play a game. DS is going to a party up in the hills, but has booked a taxi home.

I have bought DH a card... I got it months ago because it's just right. We don't buy actual Valentine's cards, just ones we like.

The lovely restauranteur across the road has promised us a delivered meal of Chateaubriand with trimmings, pudding and wine for another night, so that's something to look forward to! Grin

debbs77 · 13/02/2017 20:58

Nothing. Single Mama here. Well actually, I'll be preparing for my daughters birthday on the 15thigh, same as every other valentines day!

WindyFlowers · 13/02/2017 20:59

Just a normal day in our house. It's our 10 year anniversary in a couple of weeks though Shock

poorbuthappy · 13/02/2017 21:01

We have a rare day off together without kids so breakfast out at local posh golf club then will be watching Trainspotting 2 at 11.30.
Grin

Peachypeaches · 13/02/2017 21:05

We just exchange cards and maybe a very small gift. For dinner we'll usually have a candlelit steak dinner and share a bottle of pink fizz, followed by an early night! We've been together for nearly 20 years.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/02/2017 21:05

We're going to IKEA to look at bookshelves

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 13/02/2017 21:07

Dh is at work during the day and i am working til 8pm in a dress shop

Joy of fucking joys Smile

Heyheyheygoodbye · 13/02/2017 21:10

DH is working all day. I am working in the morning then going to visit my DM and auntie. Then DH and I will have a wildly passionate trip to dog training class.

LongHardStare · 13/02/2017 21:10

14th February is s.a.d. (singles awareness day)

mysteriouscurle · 13/02/2017 21:10

Me and dh and ds are off out for meal at our local football club then watch the game. Three points in the "top of the table" clash will be the best Valentine's day present Grin tbh I dont really like Valentine's day so usually ignore it but meal followed by game will be ok

Heyheyheygoodbye · 13/02/2017 21:11

I have bought DH a funny card with llamas on it though. DH will have got me a soppy one and written an essay in it! I'm very lucky Smile

MyOtherNameIsTaken · 13/02/2017 21:13

Well we didn't do much for our anniversary yesterday so it's the usual Tuesday - early tea so I can go to my ladies club night but we might open a bottle of wine when I get back. Grin

Stuckinstressville · 13/02/2017 21:17

Up at 5 with my toddler , then after a day at work, taking my limping cat to the expensive lovely vet at 6.30 then councilling my jr dr brother, over dinner which I am somehow finding time to make,to not give up as he is emotionally and mentally and physically drained ( he asked to come
Over as he is on his knees with it) whilst playing a good wifey and collapsing in bed to do it mostly again the next day! Winner. Bonus as surrounded by people I
Love.

catwithflowers · 13/02/2017 21:17

DP playing squash. I'm celebrating with my dad and kids. Mum passed away a few months ago and I don't want dad to be on his own tomorrow ❤❤

Mungobungo · 13/02/2017 21:17

We do nothing. Not a thing. Ever since our first ever Valentine's Day together consisted of a disastrous meal at our favourite restaurant and DH spending the night on the loo with the schnitz.
We decided then that Valentine's day was a pile of shite so don't bother. I like it that way too. No pressure on either of us to provide some grand gesture. If he's lucky I might cook him dinner.

FlouncingInAWinterWonderland · 13/02/2017 21:23

We're having a slap up meal at KFC for DS2's birthday. He's chosen Tesco caterpillar cake for pudding/ birthday cake with cousins, aunt, uncle and grandparents. He's ever had shop bought cake before and suddenly anounced he'd like a caterpillar cake because when he was little that's what everyone always had and he missed out.

School are having a valentines disco DD is going too, DS2 is at fencing club, DS1 will need to decompress after school and DH has a late meeting.

I will be taxi, mediator and waitress at KFC.

I might open a bottle of red when the DC are all in bed or more likely just crawl into bed myself.

Rixera · 13/02/2017 21:26

OH is big on puns at the moment (I wish I knew why) so I've gone pun themed for Valentine's.
Made him a little love note (it's in the shape of a music note..) for the morning, along with a thermos of coffee with a post it reading 'words cannot espresso how much I love you' and a fresh cannoli 'i cannoli be happy by your side'.
For lunch 'are you a banana? Cause I find you a-peel-ing', 'I am nuts about you!', 'I know this is cheesy, but...' (cheese pinwheels) 'youre hotter than Sriracha' (dip for pinwheels' and 'I think you are the sweetest!' (raspberry blondies)

For dinner I'm doing spaghetti carbonara, and he has something planned to surprise me.

He is the soppiest person I've ever met, so trowelling on the cringe worthiest cheese for him. We used to do all sorts- I did a candlelit midnight picnic, surprise trip away, scavenger hunts- but now with DD we have the opportunity to find ways to make it special at home.

GoNorthatthefirstleft · 13/02/2017 21:30

I'm just home after some ankle surgery done this afternoon so I'm going to be staying in bed letting dh and the kids look after me I bought him a card before I went in so I just have to write that in the morning when I'm not so woozy
