Someone asked this:

Top US states by 2015 GSP (Gross State Product) and blue/red*

1 California - blue
2 Texas - red
3 New York - blue
4 Florida - purple
5 Illinois - blue
6 Pennsylvania - blue-ish
7 Ohio - purple
8 New Jersey -blue
9 North Carolina - red-ish
10 Georgia - red

So, of the top ten, 5 are blue/blue leaning, 3 are red/red leaning, and 2 are even split.

Interestingly, California has a bit more than twice the GSP as the next ranking state.

*as determined by last 4 presidential elections
blue Dem
red GOP
purple even split
'-ish' 3 of 4

Weather and lifestyle play a huge part.

How?
It doesn't seem to do great for Southern Europe, for example.

That moment the president blamed his staff for not telling him $1 TRILLION on infrastructure would drain the treasury

"Mr Cohn also argued that the bold infrastructure projects that Mr Trump envisioned would need private-industry partners, those people said, in order to avoid weighing down the government with costs.

That got Mr Trump's attention.

The president-elect turned to the other people in the room - his son-in-law Jared Kushner, his chief strategist Stephen Bannon, chief of staff Reince Priebus, and Stephen Mnuchin his campaign's chief fundraiser (and nominee to be Treasury secretary) - surprised that his infrastructure ideas had such a potential downside.

"Is this true?" Mr Trump asked the group, according to those people. Heads nodded. "Why did I have to wait to have this guy tell me?" he demanded.

Lweji Probably referring to the fact that we have 'the best' weather here in the Golden State and that we're generally seen to have a more relaxed and 'happier' lifestyle. The weather part is true, because although the southern coastal (FL, GA, etc) part of the US also has lovely weather, they have horrible humidity (and HUGE ASS bugs!!). I think the lifestyle part is just good PR. Everyone seems to think we're all blonde, hair flicking, fit, and live at the beach. It is true, however, that many of us can ski in the morning, swim in the sea in the afternoon, and watch the sun go down in the desert. But it still takes a lot of driving!

We used to joke every NY Day watching the Rose Parade, which was always a beautiful sunny day that we'd see an influx of people from east of the Rockies.

US veterans return to Standing Rock to form human shield around Dakota Access pipeline protesters

Might as well.
Considering Federal jobs have been frozen, they are probably looking for something to do.
I wonder if they have guns too (2nd amendment).
Who are they sending against the veterans? The army? Hmm

POTUS happy with Miller's telephone interview. Contemplating making it required practice.

again - no proof this is a valid account - just monitoring it for interest.

Wow, watching that video. Miller is a real slime ball.

Deejoda · 12/02/2017 15:47

Good on the veterans. Should be interesting sending in the army. I imagine the army would stand a respectful distance away and do nothing much.

The crackdown on illegal criminals is merely the keeping of my campaign promise. Gang members, drug dealers & others are being removed

I would like someone to ask Sean Spicer how many gang members and drug dealers have been removed.

I wonder if this will have any effect on crime?

Because I have nothing else more interesting to do, here's a breakdown of US states GDP per capita and last presidential result.

There's a definitive trend towards blue in the states with higher GDP per capita. It would be interesting to look at the reasons for it.

Stephen Miller says White House will fight for travel ban, advances false voter fraud claims

Anticipating Monday is going to be rather scary. New EO travel ban, that is likely much worse.
