DD went to a concert last night, or was it a gig? She came home saying that she was jumping straight into the shower as she was covered in urine. Apparently the male of the species had been urinating into bottles/cups then hurling the piss filled pots towards the stage, soaking those, like my dd, who had managed to get to the front.

Charming Hmm

Or am I just old?

Purplevamp: This is definitely not a new thing. I went to Donnington Rock Festival (now called Download hmm) one year and people pee'd into plastic water bottles. At least they had the courtesy of yelling "incoming!!" when they tossed them into the crowd shock.

Yes, in some footage you can see the announcer guy (Tommy Vance I think) wearing an American Football helmet on stage as a precaution! A bottle full of liquid is pretty dangerous as a missile, regardless of the specific fluid inside.

I suppose there are upsides of course, Daphne & Celeste getting bottled at Reading for example.

Purplealienpuke · 13/02/2017 18:27

Took dd to her 1st gig at 14, outdoor kaiser chiefs. A guys pissed down the back of a poor woman's legs quite blatantly! There were pots if piss being thrown. I've been to alot of gigs a festivals and never seen that before (or maybe too out of it to notice Confused

Dreamanddream · 13/02/2017 18:29

Why do people go? I don't get it. I just would t want to be near this behaviour!

Snifftest · 13/02/2017 18:31

Not new. Disgusting though.

Dreamanddream · 13/02/2017 18:32

Actually reading this read, I despair. What is actually wrong with the human race?!

lynzeylou · 13/02/2017 18:36

I've seen it at festivals in the 90's. My mum remembers being pissed on by a guy behind her at a football match in the early 60's.

Tapandgo · 13/02/2017 18:38

It's been going on for years - and why I've always avoided being at stage level. People doing it are pure morons - can't imagine even thinking about it.

Rhayader · 13/02/2017 18:39

Not a new thing. Ive actually seen guys urinating while moving forwards to get a better pace to stand.

BeastofCraggyIsland · 13/02/2017 18:40

Yup, seen this happen many times at various festivals and at several big outdoor stadium concerts, Muse and Red Hot Chili Peppers I think. It's fucking disgusting, luckily I've only been 'hit' once and it was beer, but have seen/heard people being hit by piss and it's utterly rank. It's never happened at any of the many U2 concerts I've been to though, or at anything indoors at the O2, obviously a better class of fan Smile

simiisme · 13/02/2017 18:53

Not all festivals are the same - thankfully. We go to Beautiful Days and I have never witnessed pee throwing!

forcryinoutloud · 13/02/2017 19:00

Is this a thing? WTF? ~Go to Chester Zoo and get in with the chimps. you'll probably have a more civilised experience.

Dreamanddream · 13/02/2017 19:02

I've never known an animal (other than a human) deliberately urinate on another.

Shockers · 13/02/2017 19:08

My dog often pees on other dogs in his haste to cover their scent after they've peed. He's very tall though, so perhaps it isn't deliberate.

catsmother · 13/02/2017 19:12

I've seen this, and narrowly missed it at a couple of outdoor Muse gigs - Wembley and Emirates I think. Also, am pretty sure it was happening at Kasabian in Leicester last year though thankfully I was in the seats as had my daughter with me. It's absolutely fucking vile. I like to be in the crowd, and preferably on the barrier, so I limit how much I drink - simple .... but of course stadiums aren't going to stop selling beer. Gives me the rage, it's not just the piss throwing but the drunken twattish behaviour, the vomit etc. You do NOT need to be off your head drunk to really get into the music if you're genuinely a fan. But alcohol isn't going to be banned unfortunately.

ghostwatch · 13/02/2017 19:14

Christ ! I'm glad I don't go to gigs ! How rank !

TheDevilMadeMeDoIt · 13/02/2017 19:14

From page three of the thread - I knew there was a reason I never wanted to go to festivals or big gigs. That is revolting! You don't get that are wet wet wet concerts.

For some reason that amused me hugely Grin

HappyFlappy · 13/02/2017 19:32

Well it never happens at the opera

Or the ballet. Though I wish the buggers would speak up - I couldn't hear a word of Swan Lake . . .

p1nkflam1ngos · 13/02/2017 19:39

Been to hundreds of gigs over the years, mostly metal and hardcore, and have never had a tumbler full of piss over me. The odd bit of lager, but (touch wood) never piss. I don't know if people are more good humoured about getting covered in an obnoxious strangers urine, south of the border, but in Glasgow it would not go down well. Maybe it's the small venues that make the piss lobber more identifiable, and therefore less likely to take the risk of an absolute kicking.

ExitPursuedBySpartacus · 13/02/2017 19:41

Which one? I saw the Moscow State .Ballet on Thursday and it was very odd.

LoveMyLittleSuperhero · 13/02/2017 20:35

p1nkflam1ngos I don't know what it is about Glasgow but you're comment got me thinking, I saw Within Temptation, Evanescence and Pretty Reckless in Glasgow and none of this was going on.
Saying that tiny venue in Wolverhampton it happens in and venues at the NEC/NIA in Birmingham are pretty brutal for this sort of thing. It must be a location thing.
Still gross.

p1nkflam1ngos · 13/02/2017 21:48

Just asked my other half, also a regular gig goer up here, and he was like Shock 'what?! Lager, but not pee.' He however has been down South to Download, and he says it's only place he's ever seen it happen - and it happened in abundance.

I've also been to metal festivals in France, where people went to the side and pissed up against the tent - but not against people. I've had blood, beer, vomit on me, but never urine. I think that would be my tipping point.

RubyFlint · 13/02/2017 22:38

This is all newsto me. How grim.

FinallyMrsE · 13/02/2017 22:40

I left an oasis concert after about 15 minutes during the early 00's when I discovered this was a thing... disgusting!
