How are I devices linked

Ricksheadtilt · 11/02/2017 19:24

I know it's not an aibu. Just desperate for traffic. If I have an iPhone how do I know mine isn't linked up to h's so he can see what apps I'm on (i.e. This one)

Snap8TheCat · 11/02/2017 19:28

He would need to be signed in to your iTunes account. Does he know your password?

Ricksheadtilt · 11/02/2017 19:30

Probably. So if I go into iTunes & change my password I'm ok? The phones/iPads aren't just automatically linked up? I know I sound dim but this is one of the (too many) things I've just let him do - so I'm clueless Sad

OP posts:
Mrsglitterfairy · 11/02/2017 19:31

Do you use the same Apple ID? If yes then he will be able to see every app you have downloaded etc but if you each have your own Apple ID then no, he can't see anything

Ricksheadtilt · 11/02/2017 19:34

I'm so ashamed. This is a stupid stupid thing. Every time anybtech needs updating - I just hand it over. I'm just beginning to realise how vulnerable this makes me.

I'm fairly sure we're on desperate iTunes accounts. So he'd have to actively log into mine. But I think he probably knows my password. Going to try and change...,

OP posts:
Ricksheadtilt · 11/02/2017 19:48

Fuck
I've gone in and indeed both phones & iPads are linked. If I actively remove his it's going to look suspicious. I'm fucked. Can't even post here now

You can get onto MN via the internet, it doesn't have to be via an APP. Remember to clear internet history though.

Ricksheadtilt · 11/02/2017 19:54

I use mn solely through safari on my phone. My mn password is safe.

OP posts:
ShowMePotatoSalad · 11/02/2017 19:56

Use MN through browser (iPhone browser has the option of using the browser that instantly removes the history so it doesn't get stored once you've closed it down).

Unlink the iphone and if he mentions it, then you know he's spying on you.

ShowMePotatoSalad · 11/02/2017 19:57

Definitely change your password. If you have separate accounts then they won't be linked, surely? Why is he logging on and looking at what you're doing. You sound a bit afraid - are you OK?

Ricksheadtilt · 11/02/2017 19:58

Ok.
I think I'm passed the point of 'mentioning'.
Off to delete. Browse. And re-enter.

Ricksheadtilt · 11/02/2017 19:59

No I'm not a bit afraid. I'm currently at terrified and holding onto my shot until I can safely drive me & the kids away

I think each device can only be logged into 1 Apple ID at a time, which means he has to log out of yours in order to log into his at some point. If you change your password now, the next time he tries to log into your account he won't be able to. If he asks, then just fudge around talking about vague emails saying you should change passwords regularly, or 'so-and-so in work' was telling you about this terrible virus and showed you how to change password. If he asks for the new one, tell him you've forgotten but it's written down at work, you'll check.
You can use your lack of tech savvy to help you here. But secretly get it up to scratch!

Ricksheadtilt · 11/02/2017 20:00

Anyway. Going. Deleting.

OP posts:
TotalConfucius · 11/02/2017 20:01

I'm sorry, didn't realise situation was so immediately desperate.
Good luck!

ShowMePotatoSalad · 11/02/2017 20:01

I'm so sorry, OP. Flowers

Can you take it to someone who will discreetly ensure it is not being monitored in any way? Someone who knows about phones and you can trust?

Ricksheadtilt · 11/02/2017 20:03

I'll have to substitute work for random mom in playground.... and I can get away with forgetting stuff.
What I'm getting to really is. He's gone out. I want to get advice whilst he's out of the house. I just need to know he's not seeing this whilst he's stewing and fuming in the pub.

OP posts:
Domino20 · 11/02/2017 20:05

And also you can use your ignorance as a cover. Just claim to have no clue as to how or why Account changes happen.

Looneytune253 · 11/02/2017 20:11

I don't think he'll b able to see what youre posting without your mn password op. Good luck

CantstandmLMs · 11/02/2017 20:17

He won't know your password and won't be able to access what you've written here on his device.

Sorry about your situation OP.

Ricksheadtilt · 11/02/2017 20:19

Thank you everyone.

Beginning to love vipers xx

discussions.apple.com/thread/4812102?start=0&tstart=0 Here you go OP.

DJBaggySmalls · 11/02/2017 20:23

Just change your password. Say someone told you that you need to do it every 5 months for security.
You can get away with doing that because you are not tech savvy so dont know he is spying on you Smile

PebbleInTheMoonlight · 11/02/2017 20:25

OK hands up I'm not Apple savy...but my browser on my tablet and phone are linked. If one of them has the password, they both do. I'd be surprised if Apple isn't as capable as Samsung.

@Ricksheadtilt if you're as vulnerable as you sound use the Internet browser and incognito browsing for accessing any help/advice. (Apple people please confirm you can do this). Wipe all passwords from your browser. That'll wipe them across all devices.

Keep safe Flowers

Rightontheschnozz · 11/02/2017 20:30

You sound scared stiff. Please seek help. Flowers

fledglingFTB · 11/02/2017 20:39

Your phone specified an update, you forgot your password and locked yourself out of you account. Forced to reset password. If he requests new one, give previous password, act dumb. Alternatively, set up a completely new apple account, with a secret email address. He shouldn't get an alert that you e logged out unless he checks devices.
