Yesterday came home to find a bit of folded-up paper wedged in a crack in the fence wall bit (pavement goes right past it). Opened it up to find 2x2p coins inside unrecognisable writing - see pic!

www.reddit.com/r/whatisthisthing/comments/5teecq/what_is_this_writing_found_wrapped_around_coins/

This one has been locked and the OP has been removed Confused

LightastheBreeze · 12/02/2017 19:20

It does seem to repeat itself, it isn't some shoolchilds very badly written 50 lines is it

pleaselookafterthisbear · 12/02/2017 19:21

hopelessly No but I'm about to go and watch it then report back excitably to you all. 😊

LightastheBreeze · 12/02/2017 19:22

Maybe it's locked because it is on there twice and could cause confusion, like when people do 2 OPs the same on here

GlobalTechIndustries · 12/02/2017 19:36

With the coins its either something to do with wicca.

user1482247122 · 12/02/2017 19:42

it looks like it could be 'light language' . Are you spiritual?

ChoccyJules · 12/02/2017 19:44

Dipsy, it isn't anything like what would be inside a geocache. For a start it's not a container.

Hasthebellgone · 12/02/2017 19:46

Don't mean to alarm you but it looks like south East Asian black magic. I found one attached to my pear tree once. Best leave it be I suppose.

murmuration · 12/02/2017 19:50

My thought was Mongolian: vertical, turned 180 degress on the photo where it's vertical. I know they were bringing back the ancient script. It looks like the same thing over and over again, so might be figure-out-able. I've got a Mongolian dictionary somewhere, including the old script, so I can give it a try (sorry it might be a while - DD's bedtime and might not have a chance until the morning, plus need to find the dictionary!).

Andrews55 · 12/02/2017 19:55

It could have been written by someone with mental health issues.

DagenhamRoundhouse · 12/02/2017 19:55

I thought it looks a bit like Hungarian!

MommaGee you can have Sammy, I'm holding out for Cas!

StarryIllusion · 12/02/2017 20:04

D'you know what I find curious? There's no grammar in it. There's a couple of marks that could be accents but other that that there is nothing to show where one sentence starts and another begins. I know next to nothing about languages but it strikes me as strange.

Villagernumber9 · 12/02/2017 20:11

It is written in very poor English. It is not any kind of short hand, nor is it Chinese. This I know as a fact.
On the witch craft side, copper is used because it is a very good conductor of energy. Normally used for good.
I will have another look to see if I can make out more words.
Hope this helps.

OFuckShitAndBollocks · 12/02/2017 20:23

Loving this thread, desperate for an update. I don't think it's creepy, just fascinating!

brooklyn66 · 12/02/2017 20:25

ah, couldn't see that one of the reddit threads OP had been removed, I think it shows up for me because I'm the poster. Nothing weird.

Sorry op but im sure its kids because my siblings and I used to write v similar notes to eachother & leave them dotted round the place. It wasnt a full on language or anything, a lot of it didn't make sense.
The two pennies though...Hmm that's a good idea actually!

Notquitewhatiexpected · 12/02/2017 20:42

Looks a little like Georgian. Don't know what what the coins mean!!

Yamadori · 12/02/2017 20:43

Whatever it is, it looks like it has been written vertically upwards or downwards between the lines on the page (2p's at the bottom direction).

It isn't Pitmans' Shorthand. DC looked at it and said Aliens definitely.

LightastheBreeze · 12/02/2017 20:51

It looks like it's written with an ink pen or quite blobby light blue biro as it's a bit smudged

mrspitt · 12/02/2017 21:02

Yogimummy123 · 12/02/2017 21:04

A blessing like this: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/O-mikuji

DingyDillDong · 12/02/2017 21:10

Place marking! I want to know what it is!

Jojofjo44 · 12/02/2017 21:17

Intrigued by this.

AYankinSpanx · 12/02/2017 21:22

I"m late to this thread but interested.

My only probably obvious contribution thus far is to point out that it's been written fluently, maybe even fairly quickly.
