To hope 3 month old DS will be entertained by Netflix's all day?

I'm in bed with what I think is a blocked milk duct and hoping doesn't turn into mastitis. DS is laid on the bed next to me staring at Paw Patrol on the IPad.

I know it's not going to last and he will get fed up soon, but how nice, and helpful, would a Netflix day be!

DS won't know or care what he's watching so unless you like Paw Patrol I'd switch it over to something more entertaining for you.

Agree. At 3 months he won't care. Put something on for you and relax.

YANBU but YABU to be watching Paw Patrol! Get something you actually like on free boob access for DS (if you're bf) and get him to feed on the blocked side to try and clear it. Good luck (with the duct and the chill day)

I swear by putting babies in front of the news. They think the presenter is talking to them.

At three months he won't care. I rewatched the whole of Game of Thrones in the first few weeks, kid doesn't seem traumatised .

If you must watch children's programs though, Hey Duggee is the only way to go. It's brilliant, a lot of episodes on iPlayer.

I had a blocked duct while bf'ing my first dc. I'm sure you know this already but feed, feed, feed - your baby is the best one to get the blockage out. Change positions, so maybe dangle your boob over your son for him to feed from (you feel like an idiot but gravity will help!) and also put your boob in warm water - again you'll feel like an idiot. My dh walked in on me resting my boob in a bowl of water with my bum in the air - took some explaining!

They don't need TV at that age or pay much attention to it. I took both dc to baby cinema and watched scandi thrillers. They slept through or ignored it until about 10 months, at which point I stopped.

I'm with coffeeCoffee - try and adjust the angle of your breast so that he is sucking from the blocked duct, if you see what I mean, this will help unblock it. This used to happen to me regularly

It is so painful feeding on that side, feels like he is rubbing my nipple with a cheese grater. It has been getting sore for a week or so and I've ignored it so will sort myself out next week and get someone to look at our latch. DS he had a cold so I put it down to that.

He isn't usually a cuddly baby at all and doesn't like being still so haven't had much opportunity for TV since he has been born. Will get the Paw Patrol off soon and try something else! It was the first thing in the kids section of Netflix and I thought he would like to colours.

My 10 month old pulled himself up at the TV and kissed Piers Morgan. Was horrific!

My DD watched an awful lot of Top Gear when she was tiny.

Watch Rick and Morty on Netflix - that's got lots of bright colours!

Don't wait until next week. Call one of the breastfeeding helplines, they probably won't be able to send anyone out but may be able to give advice over the phone. Even if it hurts you want to try and clear the blockage so it doesn't turn into mastitis. You need to angle it so his chin points towards the blockage. You can also hand express - google marmet technique. Do it in the shower, don't worry about collecting the milk. Get someone to bring you some Lansinoh for the nipple!

If you start feeling cold or flu like symptoms, get to the GP today or out of hours tomorrow. Don't hang about with it. Rest, fluids, feed as much as you can.

And yes watch something you like

Thanks everyone. I've got a doctors appointment for 5pm tonight incase it gets worse. Pretty rural here so out of hours are all miles away so didn't want to risk it over the weekend.

DS has nodded off on my bed so got some peace and quiet for a while. Will try and have a shower and see if that helps.

No baby cuddlers today as everyone is at work. DH has promised to be home early so I can use the car to get to the doctors. Don't fancy two buses in the cold.

My DD at that age was fascinated by quiz shows when we watched them. Something about the bright lights (especially Pointless / Tipping Point). Try watching whatever you fancy and see what works.

I second everyone who said he won't care what he's watching, me and DS watched about 9 series of Greys Anatomy over my maternity leave and numerous episodes of homes under the hammer. You will have enough time when your viewing is restricted to cartoons etc, so enjoy something fo you just now!

Also second the advice to watch out for mastitis, look out for your boob feeling hot and you feeling fluey - I had it twice and it's horrible.

I suffered from blocked ducts quite regularly for the first couple months. Hot baths, warm flannels and gritting my teeth while baby fed was the only way to get through it.
Also, watch whatever you want we watched Games of Thrones and the Walking Dead and she doesn't seem to be traumatised.

This was years ago (DS now at Uni) but when I had a blocked milk duct I was told to clean my windows, using my left hand (blocked duct on left side.) Supposedly the circular motion helps. It worked for me. Also; warm, hot bath.
