To hope 3 month old DS will be entertained by Netflix's all day?

I'm in bed with what I think is a blocked milk duct and hoping doesn't turn into mastitis. DS is laid on the bed next to me staring at Paw Patrol on the IPad.

I know it's not going to last and he will get fed up soon, but how nice, and helpful, would a Netflix day be!

If you start to feel Flu-ey at all then get straight on to your Dr and tell them you need an urgent appointment to get extra strong antibiotics before 5pm.

I had two bouts of mastitis which turned into a breast abscess because my GP and health visitor were dismissive about how I was feeling. I knew something was wrong but they were adament I was making a fuss Angry

splendide My DS seemed to have a thing for Rebecca Brooks when he was a baby. We were quite worried.

Rhayader · 10/02/2017 10:09

Hope it clears up, I had full blown mastitis last year and it was the most ill i've ever been.

Maybe TMI, who knows? If you have a "magic wand" vibrator, that is the only thing that shifted the blockage for me.

Aliveinwanderland · 10/02/2017 10:18

Just had a hot shower and managed to get a bit cleared I think. I don't feel too unwell but will watch out for signs of being fluey and get straight to doctors.

Are we supposed to be entertaining them?! I just cuddle mine and watch what I want.

Nongoddess · 10/02/2017 10:21

Poor you! I found it made me feel really weird, fluey but also a bit crazy: strange racing thoughts and ideas, which freaked me out until I realised I was actually quite poorly. And with that in mind, do try something more soothing than Paw Patrol! the great perk of mat leave is watching your own rubbish until they are old enough to complain... xx

maddiemookins16mum · 10/02/2017 10:23

My DD loved the News channel when little (she would wheel her walker over to the telly and stand in front of it and shout!!).

MagicMojito · 10/02/2017 10:24

Also, it might be worth checking if its thrush. The way you described cheese grater against your nips gave me an awful flashback Angry Sad

lozzylizzy · 10/02/2017 10:25

Keep away from kids tv until they are old enough to ask.....i sometimes go to the kids menu when im alone out of habit.

Aliveinwanderland · 10/02/2017 10:27

DS won't be cuddled, he hates it. He likes to either be in his jumperoo, laid on his play mat with me playing peekaboo with a scarf, or if he is tired he will sit in his bouncy chair with his dummy and the tv on. I've not been able to sit on the sofa and cuddle him since he was 4 weeks old!

My daughter watched a lot of Top Gear when she was little too NotAPuffin. Doesn't seem to have unduly affected her :-)

ItsyBitsyBikini · 10/02/2017 10:34

My son loves has to tolerate homes under the hammer and Ncis. He's in nursery from next week so we're having a final day of watching crap tv together

Vandree · 10/02/2017 10:40

I suffered with blocked ducts a lot with my 3 but never mastitis luckily! Someone told me years ago to have a hot shower with the water pointed at the sore spot and then get a load of conditioner and a knobbly hair brush. Slather on conditioner to the boob and use the brush to massage the blockage towards the nipple. Hand express after or better yet get baby to feed with chin pointed towards the blockage. Nearly instant relief. Might feel a bit bruised for a while but the blockage and pain gone. Hotwater bottle helps too. Loads of fluids. I used to stick on Family Guy or the Simpsons when mine were smaller, bright cartoon that I didn't go mad watching lol. Hope you feel better soon

GeekLove · 10/02/2017 10:48

Looks like you've got it worse than I had it since when DS2 was the same age as yours I got blocked ducts. If you feel better I recommend going for a swim as it seemed to help fix mine. Sounds mad but I think that it helped massage the blockage from the other side.

ICanCountToOneHundred · 10/02/2017 10:52

splndide DD2 once kissed George Osbourne when he was on the news. I was horrified!

ineedwine99 · 10/02/2017 10:58

Hope you feel better soon OP. I agree with watching what you like, my 5 month old loves watching baby daddy and big bang theory with me (hope she might develop a love of science....) plus my not so secret love of scooby do Grin

chipsnmayo · 10/02/2017 11:00

Just chill and hopefully you feel better soon and watch the telly, they won't care.

My dd watched heap of Buffy with me when she was a baby Grin

Aliveinwanderland · 10/02/2017 11:04

Stuck him in the Jumperoo and I'm watching Orange is the new black!

Just done an agonising feed on that side but it feels much better now!

For a baby would suggest Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, some many bold colours. My very young baby DD's eyes light up when I put it on once. Its easy for them to see.

For your breast are you putting a warm compress on it? Also some cabbage in bra?

Warm water on it, hold shower against it, midwife recommended soak in bath but I couldn't get mine submerged in the bath without nearly drowning so I can't recommend this.

meganorks · 10/02/2017 11:14

I think that's what I had once. Put a hot flannel on boob for a bit then fed baby. Gone! Might be worth a try. If nothing else, one warm boob!

SarahM24 · 10/02/2017 11:17

Hi just wanted to second what another poster said about thrush, if your nipples are saw it could well be especially with the cheese grater comparisson il never forget that pain ask the dr about both you and baby being treated for thrush aswell. Hope you recover soon

Ohyesiam · 10/02/2017 13:28

Of you have anyone well can shop for you, get them to buy you a cabbage, savoy preferably. Cut the stalky bit out of a leaf, and wear it in your bra. I'm not crazy, it really sorts out mastitis and blocked milk ducts.
Good luck with it allFlowersCake

If youre on Netflix try Story Bots

Aliveinwanderland · 10/02/2017 13:52

Thanks everyone, feeling a lot better now. DS has been great all day but is just starting to get cranky as he has missed his big nap. He only usually has it if I take him out in the pushchair but im shattered from being up all night. Have tried his cot, bouncy chair and cuddles and none of them are working so he is grumbly and tired!
