What's a suspect country?

A definition would be nice.

CussingQuim · 11/02/2017 12:39

I would guess it's "Any country other than America". And America too, because of all the bad people in it. (But not America because #MERICA!)

I have definitely listened to too much More or Less.

They cover all the ways you can take down polls and comparisons.

What worries me is the impression he's trying to create in people's heads...

It seems like he is linking refugees to terrorism and they should be treated with suspicion.

And that judges are bad. And that the media ix fixed.

"Come into the light, children... listen only to meeeeeeee....... "

It's more than that - I really worry that people will get influenced by his words and act on them.

And Trump will remain silent.

Re: most refugees coming from places like Syria, does he think Americans in general are really, really stupid?

Also, it's not as though Syrian refugees can walk to the US. The US only takes in refugees who have undergone an intensive and lengthy vetting process.

Or is it a stupid tweet to intentionally distract people from the Michael Flynn problem?

Yes, watching Piers Morgan being told to fuck off on live TV is exactly as satisfying as I'd always imagined.

Re: most refugees coming from places like Syria, does he think Americans in general are really, really stupid

TBF - it seems that since the 'ban' was announced and then halted, the proportion of refugees coming in from the 7 countries has increased.

That's true.

BUT

What does that mean?

How MANY refugees have come in?
Not the proportion.
Why has the proportion increased? Are refugee agencies prioritising vulnerable people from these countries over other refugees?

Life is more complex than 140 characters.

I'm sure I'm being thick, but how can Trump just plan to do an new Executive Order reinstating the travel ban when it's already been declared unlawful? Sure, he can reword it, but that doesn't get round the fundamental irrationality, does it?

GingerIvy · 11/02/2017 13:02

I imagine that will be the basis of it being hauled back into court the moment they reissue one.

Megatherium · 11/02/2017 13:03

A staggering 77 percent of the 1,100 refugees let in since Judge James L. Robart’s Feb. 3 order have been from the seven suspect countries.

And yet they haven't committed any acts of terrorism. What was that we were told about the terrible danger the courts were putting the country in?
