Has something happened to Mini Eggs?

Chloe1984 · 07/02/2017 18:23

Bought a pack of Mini Eggs from the supermarket yesterday, I know about the changes to Cadburys chocolate in general, but these didn't taste anything like Cadburys chocolate whatsoever. They tasted like something you'd get from an out of date cheap advent calendar.

Has anyone else tried them recently? Really bad, tasted more like Nestle chocolate than cadburys, I wouldn't have known what it was if it was a blind taste test.

I'm off to stock up on some Dairy Milk Snow Bites in the sales, as these do actually taste like Mini Eggs should!

Ferrero is just like cat litter rolled in stuff

Is that true about dairy milk? I had one from the corner shop on Sunday and it was lovely and satisfying. I wondered if they had changed the recipe back or if I had just come around to the new taste!

Cadbury is foul. Has been for a while now. I don't think I've eaten any of it for close to 12 months. I think their use of palm oil, despite the evidence presented to them about how damaging it is to the environment, and how it has impacted the taste of their products, is coming to bite them in the ass.

Our Easter last year did not feature Cadburys in any shape or form. Nor will it this year. Total boycott in the Middling household.

There's plenty of lovely ethical chocolate to eat - why would anyone want sickly palm oil stuff?

Frouby · 07/02/2017 21:03

I was gutted when I tried the Roses at Christmas. They tasted oily and cheap and nasty.

I don't eat chocolate often but when I do I have a little bar of Aldis dark chocolate, either 70 or 85% cocoa. It is bloody gorgeous.

Does anyone remember the little Macintosh eggs you used to get at easter? Bit smaller than a cream egg but filled with caramel. Bloody lovely they were. Haven't seen them for year.

badg3r · 07/02/2017 21:08

They are really slimy now. Not good AT ALL. I am even more disappointed about this that the resizing of the chocolate orange segments. At least they still taste good!

venusinscorpio · 07/02/2017 21:14

If they have put some milk back into dairy milk, hopefully they might roll it out to other brands?

MongerTruffle · 07/02/2017 21:29

Cadbury denies it

SuperBeagle · 07/02/2017 21:33

They can deny it until they're blue in the face, but that doesn't change facts.

Toomanycats99 · 07/02/2017 21:58

Ellapaella - exactly what the office thought! (Had to pass them round for 2nd opinions!)

Chloe1984 · 07/02/2017 22:04

DailyMail- knock off Smarties is an excellent comparison, that's exactly what they tasted like, they also seemed a bit smaller in size too.

Not sure how they can deny that the recipe hasn't changed.

Has anyone found any nice alternative creme eggs? I really miss them. Just before they changed the recipe there were some absolutely lush batches of creme eggs, now they're just thin chocolate egg shaped imposters filled with gooey lies.
